Let me preface this by saying this compressor, after getting my hands on it, seems like a very good quality compressor. It seems sturdy and well-built. The motor and the compressor were both very quiet and smooth for the whole 5 mins they ran before failing, but I do not believe the failure is a manufacturing or quality issue. I'm convinced it was damaged in shipping because from a build perspective, this thing is solid. I would definitely recommend purchasing one, just ensure you go over it with a fine-toothed comb before the shippers leave.
I'm having to write a review mostly about my experience with Amazon, their shippers and Industrial Air because my $700 (w/ tax) compressor is nonfunctional. I ordered this compressor a couple months back (it arrived 14Oct2020) as a gift. When the shippers dropped it off I moved it into my outdoor storage at let it sit till the holiday season. The box had a few gouges in it, but nothing that would make me feel like it was damaged. Being a gift, I was not going to unbox it. I will say at this point it was obvious that the box had been down on it's side. As long as it wasn't dropped on it's side or had other heavy items stored on top of it, that's fine. Just let it sit for a few hours to ensure all the oil returns to where it's supposed to be and you can verify the oil levels are good. Although, the box does blatantly say to store it top-side up with big arrows, but I guess the shipping company couldn't understand that. Unfortunately, when the Christmas season arrived and we finally unboxed it, I noticed the plastics had some cracks and breaks in them, as you can see in the pictures, indicating it may have been dropped or had other heavy items stored on top of it. However, it's just plastic safety covers and I assumed it would be strictly a cosmetic issue. I shined a flashlight inside the housing and everything seemed to be in order. I opened the instructions and followed the startup guide. Checked the oil, ensured the switch was off, opened the petcock, plugged it in, switched it on to let it run for 30 minutes for break-in. About 3-5 mins into running it I hear a loud crash and then it got really quiet. The motor is still running, but the compressor is not. I turn it off and begin to inspect. I can see inside the safety housing the belt has jumped. I grab my tools (it takes a Torx T-20 to remove the safety cage) and pop off the cage. When I pulled the cage off, a number of metal pieces clang on the floor and I see the drive wheel on the compressor is shattered. Please reference the pictures. Note to anyone still reading, the drive wheel for the compressor seems to be some kind of cast iron so it's a brittle metal and I'm assuming the rough treatment during shipping caused stress cracks since there were cracks and stress marks in the safety cage. That being said, had it not been abused in shipping, the thing probably would have outlasted me. Since the motor was still running after the drive belt jumped, I knew the motor was still good. After cleaning up the pieces, I inspected further. I can manually turn the compressor, and it seems to be creating compression, so I'm fairly certain that it's not damaged other than the obvious catastrophic damage to the drive wheel and a couple extra cracks in the plastic safety cage. I can discern no other damage at this point. I grab the warranty card and give Industrial Air a call. Apparently, they are a really small company because all their warranty calls appear to go to a single telephone line. For the record, I'm 100% okay with this; I actually prefer it since I'm getting to support an American small business. However, no one is answering this phone line and their voicemail box is full. This is on the Wednesday after Christmas, two days before New Years, mid-afternoon. I call a couple times and can't get anyone on the phone. Again, I'm okay with this. It wouldn't surprise me if their whole company took off for the week and I hope they did. Family is important. I then hop online and chat with an Amazon rep. Apparently, my return window for this has passed, but I wouldn't want to return it anyway. It seems wasteful to ship a file cabinet sized air compressor back when this one is fine and I would just turn around and buy another one anyway. I tell the Amazon rep my issue and that I can't get in contact with Industrial Air. Even though I'm out of the return window, she offers to start a return for me. That's pretty good customer service, but I really just need a functioning air compressor at this point. We're starting a shop build and wanted it on-hand to run our nail guns. I tell her I'll wait and try Industrial Air again and will reconnect if I can't get a remedy through them. I'm sure Industrial Air will take care of me. They seem like a great company filled with good people. However, the moral of this story is if you buy this or any piece of equipment from Amazon, inspect that thing like it's a newborn child when it arrives because the shippers that serviced my order were straight garbage.

Initial setup:
The compressor has a short power cord, so once I got it placed in my garage with a 20ft 15A extension cord. The unit does NOT have a quick connect post regulator, but it is setup with a port for 1/4" NPT female thread. Some might think this is a flaw, personally I think this is the safer bet since not everyone will run the same diameter hose. It's a safer bet to have the user select their own fittings that they've probably standardized off of. The tank drain valve was closed, and the unit already had its oil filled. This compressor uses a semi-synthetic with no detergent oil. It says it on a sticker right next to the motor.
Breakin period:
The instructions state that you need to open the drain valve at the bottom of the tank and flip the switch to "auto" for 30 minutes. Although that was the extent of the instructions from the manufacturer, I went ahead and closed the drain valve, ran it to the auto shut off pressure (~155psi), and checked the joints for leaks. I did not have any leaks and the pressure valve worked fine. I did at this point realize though, that the drain valve can be difficult to get to as the tank is about 2 feet in diameter.
first run:
Ran the unit with a die grinder and a wire brush to clean up some wheel hubs and it ran like a champ!
List of flaws:
The drain valve is difficult to get to (suggested to get an extension with a valve)
longer power cord
All in all it is a good compressor and I am happy with the purchase.
