Customers generally like the size of the backpack. They mention it's pretty roomy, the shape of the inside might be inconvenient, and the 24L is the perfect size for a day pack. The waist level storage was incredibly useful, and a rapid escape bag as it fits their shelter, water, fire, food, and clothes. The high quality materials, versatile pocket setup, and comfortable fit, feel, and adjust like bigger backpacks that they use for backpacking. The hip pockets are great for storing a pocket knife, but they are disappointed that their phone was not included.

As far as space goes, you need to know what you are buying, this is not for backpacking, if that's what you want, you should be going bigger. This is a day pack, it doesn't hold a lot, but it is not designed to. It does however hold everything I need it to, with plenty of attachments on the outside to hold a rod tube, hiking poles, or whatever you need. The two pockets on the waist band probably wouldn't hold a smart phone, but are perfect for holding fly boxes. There are two small pockets that are good for keeping little items easily accessible. Side pockets are great for water bottles. The bottom pocket holds an included rain fly which is a handy accessory. It's a well thought out design for a day pack.
My backpacking pack is an osprey, and there is a reason i bought another. They are comfy. I was using a sling pack for fishing, it just didn't work. So I upgraded to this, it is no problem wearing this thing loaded up from morning till night. Very adjustable all around.
I haven't taken this on a plane yet, and I'm not sure how it is going to go when I do as it has a pretty large footprint for not a lot of storage space. That is my only complaint, it takes up a lot of space for what it is. But that's a pretty minor complaint and really doesn't matter.
Osprey makes different packs for different activities, don't limit yourself by buying this one when you're after a bicycling centered pack. If youre after a day pack for hiking based activities, this is a good choice that I am very happy I made.
Edit: still going strong. Still love it. It has really settled into my gear collection as a fishing backpack. Working great for what I want.
Edit 2: I've started mobile style archery hunting. Hawk helium sticks, and a tethrd predator platform all fit well on the outside with included straps. Rangefinder, binos, headlamp, release, all the archery stuff fits in it well and makes long walks on public easier.
The Abenator is ready to strike again, I just nabbed this beauty in Blue. As soon as this gem arrives, I'll update this review.
The 2014 edition Stratos was awfully disappointing for me so I gave it away - hopefully this model is improved. I can already predict that vertical zipper is going to be irritating and concerning if I stand in line because I'll be wanting to make sure it's still closed.
Stay tuned!
Update:
I honestly couldn't be happier. It's comfortable, great looking and well-made. There are two pockets at the top, one for glasses and one for like pens or pencils or so it seems since it's not very deep and then you have that long center pocket which I was nervous it wouldn't stay zipped up but it does. That pocket holds everything. Haha.
As you know there is that suspension system that keeps the pack off your back which allows air flow but it also prevents you from stuffing a few extra items into that main compartment. So there's that.
I'm on the hunt again for a new pack. Go figure.
Enjoy, guys.
I bought it as a substitute for a previous backpack (from a different manufacturer) that I had bought that was too heavy and bulky for short outings for hiking and photography. I needed something that was both light and that could accommodate my photography gear.
And, so far, this backpack fits the bill. It's light, comfortable, and well balanced. The pack itself is several pounds lighter than my previous backpack. I'm able to fit 2 lenses, filters, camera trigger, and the camera itself if needed. I can also fit other gear such as a headlamp/flashlight, knee brace, water dish for the pup, etc.. While it doesn't have a specific spot to carry a tripod, the ice tool loop on the right side doubles as a tripod holder with a little bit of fiddling.
I'd definitely recommend this backpack and will definitely be buying Osprey gear in the future.
