Product Description
The APC Backups Connect BGE90M system offers guaranteed power protection for networking equipment (router, modem) and other low power devices (smart devices, VoIP or cordless phones, home automation and security systems). When power is disrupted due to storms or outages, the BGE70 keeps you connected to your network for up to 3 hours and charges smart devices. Get weather updates, make phone/video calls, check email, update social media, stream movies, and maintain home automation/security during extended power outages. The Backups Connect BGE90M is an innovative UPS that is designed to power networking equipment for prolonged periods during blackouts. Run a router, modem and another low-power device (power a VoIP or cordless phone, maintain your home security system) for 4.5 hours during a power outage. Additionally, 2 USB charging ports power smartphones and tablets during extended blackouts. Access to the internet is a critical component of our personal and professional lives. Unfortunately, a power outage breaks our line of communication for business operations, news and weather updates, and restricts us from contacting friends and family. At APC by Schneider Electric, we understand the network is critical to your everyday life. Backups Connect will keep your network running, even when the power goes out.

If you're looking for an inexpensive, consumer grade UPS for your modem, router, and possibly IP phone (to retain E911/Network/WiFi service during a power outage over VOIP for example), this would be a great choice.
Note: this is only for low power draw devices! it does not have 3 plug grounded support, and only works with 2 pin outlets. Additionally, just because it fits, doesn't mean you should plug it into this, like a vacuum for example (I had a roommate do this, and the battery immediately shutoff; it didn't break so I'm assuming it protected itself.) Stick with low draw devices, like modem, routers, switches, cameras, phone chargers, etc. Avoid Vacuums, and other equipment with power draw over a few Amps.
Like many have said here, this is NOT a UPS for your CPU tower, monitor or any other high current consumption items - not to mention it is only 2 prongs, so cords with a ground plug (like those found on a computer or monitor) wont work anyway.
So with that said, I wanted to give a good and real world test of this unit -not guess and tell you that "I have a router and modem connected to it and it keeps the devices running even during a 20 minute outage I had last week. I like this unit a lot. Get one too". No, I wanted to see for myself a true test that was a bit more quantified in nature. So after plugged in for the past 2 weeks to assure the battery was good, conditioned and fully charged, I decided to conduct the test today.
Test:
I plugged in a single 115 VAC floor lamp with an old school 45 watt incadesent light bulb. By my math and Ohms Law, this would equate to a little over .3 amps current draw at 115 V / 45 watts. So with light turned on, stop watch on my iPhone in one hand and pulling the plug to the UPS in the other, the test began!
Results:
The light remained on for exaclty 52 minutes before it abruptly went out. The UPS went dark as well and tapped out without a sound (no annoying alarms going off in this UPS which I like).
Conclusion:
Happy. And worked as I expected. I think getting almost an hour out of a 45 watt lamp sucking the battery of this little UPS is pretty good and meet my expectations. I would suspect that this little guy would keep my modem and router up until the 2 hour mark (?)....maybe someday I will try that, but until then, there you have it; no opinions, personal thoughts or "It should run for XX amount of time" - just a real test sample of what this unit did under my observation.
Original review:
I installed this to power my modem, router, and small 8 port switch. I can confirm that it does successfully power all three from battery power, and I can keep my internet connection going even with the unit unplugged. That's about all I can say, though; functionally, it works fine. The design could stand to be much better, though.
My issues are as follows:
-The power light is unnecessarily bright. Easily fixed with a piece of tape.
-The beeper when it is unplugged is incredibly loud. I have experience with multiple different APC PSU's, even a rack mounted one, and this one is by far the loudest I've heard.
Most importantly:
-THE PLUGS ARE THE WRONG WAY 'ROUND!!
If your gear is 10+ years old, then it will probably work just fine. For the longest time in the early 2000's, manufacturers for some reason wanted you to only ever have one thing plugged into an outlet at a time, so designed their power bricks to block the ports around them. It's 2017 though, everyone makes the wall warts sideways now! You can plug everything into one power strip!
Coincidentally, all 3 wall warts I had to plug in are sideways, which means that I can only fit two adapters on the backup. Luckily I also have some short extension cables, and I was able to rip the ground prong out of one and use it to plug in the last adapter, but that should not be necessary. They should have made the plugs face in the other orientation, to accommodate modern designs. Or at the very least spread them out more. Or possibly integrate those fancy rotating plugs that I've seen crop up occasionally.

Every system has an APC UPS on it.
I bought this specific Back-UPS to run my modem, router, and main switch.
Be aware that the three outlets are two-prong AC only.
This unit cannot be used with three prong AC wall adapters or cords.
This is why I gave it only 4 stars. There is no reason they could not have designed it to take three prong AC adapters as well.
