Chai's Choice
Outdoor Adventure Dog Harness
The Chai’s Choice Outdoor Adventure Dog Harness Vest eliminates pressure from your dog’s neck preventing possible neck, spine, and windpipe injuries. Even if your dog is not a puller, he or she could be injured wearing a collar if they make a quick move to chase a squirrel, dog, or person. From a training perspective, dog harnesses are useful for teaching your dog not to pull as the pressure from a harness is more evenly distributed around your dog’s body.
- Stylish, Durable, Scratch-Resistant Oxford material outer layer.
- Lightweight Duraflex Buckle with Large Loading Capacity.
- High Visibility Design For Night Safety
Comfort and Safety - Wherever You Are
Designed with reflective material for good visibility at night and a sturdy handle for looping seat belt through to secure your dog while riding in your car. From the coast to the mountains - to your daily walks - Chai's Choice is designed for you.

Our first dog (currently 10 months old, adopted at 9 weeks old) is a 52 lb, sheltie, boxer, mutt mix, with a deep and narrow boxer chest. He is very athletic and needed something comfy that he can run in. He has black, fine, fluffy long fur- the harness hasn't pulled fur or caused any balding. He doesn't normally pull too bad, but the chest ring is still nice for intown when he's excited to get into the dog park, it reduces the pulling.
We usually walk in the country/on trails and he is OFF LEASH 90% of the time, but still wears his harness for safety and convenience. The bright color of this harness (Orange for him) lets me feel secure knowing he'll be spotted and recognized as a family pet if he strays a bit too far from us (as he usually does to scout out the trails ahead). He always wears a collar (embroidered, no tags) but it's hard to see because he has a huge mane of fur, the harness however is easy to spot.
Our second dog (currently 9 months old, rescued at 6 months old) is a 65 lb Husky/Spinone mix with a round barrel chest, that at times can pull very hard. This harness (neon yellow) fits her very well, is comfortable, and helps reduce the pulling by at least 75% (no harness stops all behaviors/pulling 100%- that requires training, and patience).
While in town or on neighborhood walks we hook it on the chest ring, this is when she normally pulls the most. When we're out in the country or on nature trails we use a longer lead and hook it to her back/top ring since she doesn't pull as much during these types of outings. I feel she is very secure in this harness. She is powerful and has escaped out of collars several times before (talk about heart attack!). This harness hugs her body perfectly and gives me a lot of control all while knowing she feels no discomfort.
WATER/SWIMMING & WASHING IT: Both dogs have swam and gone mudding in these harnesses and I haven't noticed it weighing them down in any way or preventing them from swimming in deep water properly. The harness does absorb some water especially where it's padded. Hang to dry or pop in the dryer on a low heat setting. I have left it out to dry each time so far and it seems almost completely dry the next evening. Mine have been stained with mud, I just wash it on delicate cycle warm/cold and they come out fine.
SEATBELT/CAR RIDES: Right off the bat with our first dog we knew we needed to strap him in after a few car rides, so this is another thing I spent time and money on, trying out different options.
Our concerns were: dog loose in the car and flying into things when we hit the brakes or accelerate, dog distracting you while driving by getting up front or blocking your view, dog jumping out of the car the instant you open the door, dog jumping out the window, or the dogs overcrowding each other's space.
The best thing we've found so far is (Etekcity 2-Pack Pet Car Seat Belt on Amazon- 2 for $10) adjustable doggie seat belts that snap in like regular seat belts on one end, and then have a dog leash clip on the other end to clip it to your dog's harness.
The harness works great to keep them comfortably strapped in and braking fast or accelerating doesn't do any harm to the dog. They are accustomed to waiting until we unclip them and then say "Okay, Zane" or "Okay, Zoey" which releases them to jump down from the vehicle. We usually clip the doggie seat belt to the handle or the back ring of the harness.
Another tip- we have an SUV and put the back seats flat often so the dogs can lay down and stretch out in the back, and there are no seat belts to clip into when you lay the seats flat, so we've clipped a carabiner to the doggie seat belt and then attach the carabiner to the (built in) metal bracket on wall of the inside of the car behind the back door where the seat would snap into place. Make sure you use a good carabiner, and not a flimsy keychain one.
NOTE: We used to attach the seat belt leash clip directly to the dog's collar, this is dangerous. Before they got used to being strapped in a few times they jumped out of the car as soon as the door opened and got their necks yanked. Another time I braked hard, my dog flew forward, the seat belt tightened yanking his neck which caused him to let out a choking sound, never again. After that point I only attach a seat belt to a harness. I know sometimes it's not as convenient to put a harness on if you're just taking a quick car trip, but it's much safer.
I give this harness 5/5 stars, as it is everything I wanted in a harness. You won't regret choosing this one. The only thing I can think of that would improve it is having more color options, I'd like to put pink on my girl. That being said, the available colors are nice.

Bella's is starting to show some effects of the wrestling and competition for the ball. Boonie likes to half stand on her back with his front paws as he is running back with the ball. It is funny to watch and amazing that he can run for a few feet with his front paws on her back while she is also running. It is only cosmetic damage probably from his claws. there are a couple of quarter inch spots on the edge where the orange fabric has pulled from the binding but the harness is still strong. I use the handle to help lift both dogs in and out of the truck.
Bella's harness also came in very handy when she had surgery on her neck for a pharyngeal abscess and couldn't wear a collar but needed the cone of shame so she wouldn't scratch at the incision site. I have a soft cone.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005U6GMJW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I was able to creatively attach it to the harness with it's velcro strap. It wasn't easy but it worked great and I could take the whole contraption off of her when needed and didn't have to worry about getting it back on because that was easy. Just like putting the harness on normally. Cone on dog without collar and she was comfortable even if she hated it.
When these ones get old I will gladly buy the same ones again. I don't think that will be for a few years yet though. Adding new pics of them in the teardrop and tied out to the spiral stake during our eclipse camping trip.
Last years review follows: These TrueLove harnesses are now my favorite harnesses. We bought them before going on a three week trip camping across the country and back with our two Field Bred Springers last Sept and Oct 2016. They fit 43 lb Bella and 45 lb Boone great but could be adjusted much larger for a bigger dog. I have them fit snug to prevent grass, sticks and burrs getting between the harnesses and the skin.
We wanted something that would be comfy for them to wear, easy for them to walk and play in, easy to help them in and out of our big truck, something reflective for visibility and easy to get on and off. I chose the blaze orange because at home we live in the woods and there are hunters around in the fall and our dogs run in the acreage out back and in the woods when we are enjoying nature. Orange is the best color to see in the woods and is universal language for hunters.
A plus is the front dee. I like the tag mesh to keep the jingle quiet even though I haven't used it yet. The front dee has made walking Boone dog a pleasure. I work with him on leash but he is just so exuberant that he can't help himself and pulls. He will choke himself with a training collar and I am always afraid his regular collar will come off when I need it to stay on. Clipping the leash on the front of this harness makes him spin around when he wants to run after a squirrel or pull hard. My arm is so happy.
I read that tip in the reviews before I bought these and with all the choices on Amazon it helped me decide to buy these over other good looking and functionally similar harnesses. When we were at the camping event we traveled for they made name tags for the dogs too and we clipped them to the top dee webbing. Everyone there loved the harnesses. There were lots of dogs but ours were the only ones who were reflective and high visibility.
I knew I had chosen the right harnesses for us when they arrived and I adjusted them to fit each dog. They are very adjustable and strong enough to pick up our 45 lb male with the handle. We tested it to make sure it would stay on in case we needed pick him up to put him in the truck or to haul him out of a mud hole or if he went through ice. He is the adventurous one and even though we haven't needed that functionality it is nice to know the harness can take it. They way these fit make it possible. They didn't rub anywhere and the dogs wore them all day every day for three weeks and even after wearing them at home they still look new. I haven't let Boone wear his to swim or roll in the mud though. I am sure that will be the test when the snow melts in May.
Video is of Bella and Boone in Missoula Montana playing in the October tall grass while wearing these harnesses. They were tired by the time I shot this. You should have seen the springing kangaroo dogs when they were fresh. The harnesses fit so great it is like they aren't even wearing them. Even my Canine Search and Rescue friend loved these harnesses when she saw them and her dogs have top of the line gear.

Even my Canine Search and Rescue friend loved these harnesses when she saw them and her dogs have top of the line gear.

his head is 31" wrapped around the ears, and his chest is 40 just behind front legs where the
strap goes. all snug measures. dog loves it, will play, walk and nap with it on, but doesn't keep it on.
it's seems very well built. but i do question the back strap, it seems backward since the reflective tape
is on the inside on the lower section.
