    Product Description

The Nomad is made of smooth, clean, unfinished poplar hardwood, not pine. Many of the pine frames on the market have a rough splintery feel. Pine averages 18% moisture content, our hardwood is kiln dried to 8%, which means it's far less likely to split or warp. This pure untreated wood is preferred by many consumers seeking a natural, hypo-allergenic alternative to today's chemical laden products. We have been selling furniture since 1984 and these are the finest quality unfinished bed frames we have seen. *Assembly required. -SORRY, WE DO NOT SHIP TO ALASKA OR HAWAII.

    Perfect for my kids!
Bought the twin size bed and the trundle for my two boys. I was originally headed towards a bunk bed but decided against it since as it would be a pain taking on/off sheets and I am so glad I went with this! It is durable (kids like to jump on the bed even though they aren't supposed to), and the color is awesome. Maybe a bit more yellow than I would like, but still a very good color. Didn't need to stain it at all. The price makes it even better. It was very easy to assemble.

OK, so I'm not usually a total rah-rah for American companies... I like all cultures, and will buy from whomever makes the best product (price, quality, style, etc). But, I have to tell you, this Nomad company is what I wish all American companies were like. And, I wish Ikea was MUCH more like this:
    - I received one box, 6 ft long x 10" x 4" (I just needed the twin size bed)
    - everything was packed efficiently in the box (not a lot of wasted packaging for me to recycle)
    - everything came apart easily
    - one page for pictorial instructions... easy-peasy to follow (after step 1 - see below)
    - each piece of lumber is solid, square, no cracks, smoothly sanded, no tags, no markings (careful, it's not finished)
    - the design to assemble this is elegantly simple:
    - some cutouts where a little extra joining strength is needed
    - wood dowels already inserted in one side
    - screws and bolts are clean; receiving threaded inserts are clean (smooth engagement, perfect fit)
    - if you appreciate the various woods, you'll love the quality of the poplar they used.

The whole thing went together (from the time that I opened the box) in about 20 minutes (phillips screw driver and one hex bit; no pliers, no sockets, no straight slots, no hammer). I did have to study step one of the instructions for about 3 minutes to make sure that I wasn't about to be dealing with Chinese instructions... nope, it's correct and accurate.

Now, the bed has absolutely nothing stylish (other than super clean, simple, rustic). But, I could paint it, or stain it if I needed. It has no headboard. But, it was super inexpensive, beautifully manufactured and will be mostly covered by bedspreads. Best purchase I've made in years (I'm going to watch this little company, I think they're a hidden treasure in America these days).

After 1.5 years this bed is holding up just fine. The (100-175 lb) kids plop down on this every day to catch up on TV and someone ends up sleeping overnight in it a couple times a week. There have been no problems. I never did finish the wood and worried that maybe it'd start warping. But, that hasn't happened as far as I can tell. It's still great.

I wanted a simple frame with storage underneath and this is it. The side rails give you 11.75 inches of clearance. Underneath the bed itself is nearly 13 inches. This is a very good frame for small spaces. One annoying thing - it creaks when you move. The little creaks and pops began after two nights. It sounds like old wooden stairs. Not squeaks. Its occurs with about 30 percent of the slats with one side affected more than the other. Weird. I took the mattress off to check it out. Everything looks and feels sturdy. No cracks or anything. I gently tightened what little I could, but the noises remain. Maybe it will stop as the wood adjusts to this humid New York summer? If it does I will up the rating to 5 stars.

Delivery - This frame was shipped out two days after I ordered it, with an arrival time of 1 to 3 1/2 weeks! But it came in 3 days instead!

Assembly - I used a #2 phillips screwdriver, a hammer wrapped in a rag, and a little piece of sandpaper to do a teeny tiny bit of sanding. Dont be scared off by the unfinished wood. Its smooth - not splintery. The frame is light enough and sturdy enough that one person can easily assemble it.

I bought this for my daughter's 1st big kid bed and I'm pleased so far.

It was super easy to put together. The wood feels very solid and there is no weird chemical odor.

There were a few knots on the side rails, but since I'm painting it, it doesn't detract from the appearance. Unlike another reviewer, I thought the edges were very clean. I did run over the cut edges with a fine sandpaper to make it just a bit smoother before priming & painting, but I would not call the edges rough at all.

A few of the slats are a little bit loose, but not so loose that you're losing support, hearing noise, or otherwise being annoyed by it. Any loose slats can be secured with a wood screw (pre-drill the hole!) through the side rails if needed.

I bought a 7" memory foam mattress to go on top and I'm happy with the overall height of the bed - not so high that my daughter will hurt herself if she rolls or jumps out (which I'm sure she will).

I would buy it again. The price is great and it arrived very quickly. I have zero complaints.

I usually do not write reviews but as I use this tool to assist me in my purchasing decisions, I decided it was high time I replied. The bed took me an hour to stain, the stain took very well(cherry). It took me an hour to put the bed together (usual for me). Instructions were easy to follow. I put a nice mattress on it and am enjoying the sleeping comfort. There is no instability noted. The frame was a little higher than I expected (pleasant surprise). It is not noisy on turning. I weigh 200 lbs. I am happy with this purchase and would highly recommend it.

The product came on the exact day as promised. It was very true to description. Very easy to put together, and I'm a 76 year old woman who had to get it up a flight and a half of stairs. After the mattress was delivered from a local source I found that when put on the frame it left a 1-1/2 to 2 inch gap at the front of the platform. So I took the frame apart, turned the side rails upside down and then reinstalled the slats. Perfect! The bed fit down in it like a glove and now there is no possibility of the bed sliding around either. I am using this in an office/guest room so wanted a tailored look with a fitted mattress cover. I didn't like the camp cot look because the bed is high off the ground. Bought some nice long decorative baskets that fit under the bed for storage and it really made the bed look more attractive. The wood quality is pretty much okay, with one apple size very rough knot. I think I will apply a clear coat of finish after sanding it a little but it could be left unfinished with not much problem. For the money this was a great buy. Seems very sturdy. Overall I am very pleased.
