Blues Soloing Maps: Playing the Changes Kindle Edition

4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 239 ratings

The blues is one of the most accessible and gratifying forms of music to learn on the guitar at any level. Beginners get a huge kick out of playing their first solo using the minor pentatonic scale, while intermediate players want to take their soloing to the next level by studying chords, arpeggios, or scales, as well as key theory concepts.

The purpose of this book then is to give you an intermediate road map to solo over blues changes that outlines those changes instead of just blowing over them with a single scale.

The concept I’ll show you in this book is incredibly simple to grasp; all you need do is practice it and watch your blues playing grow in a matter of weeks. It’s a solid concept that can be applied to every chord you solo over in order to craft a blues solo where you really play the changes.

This is probably the shortest book you’ll ever read on blues soloing, but the information it carries is powerful and will take your blues playing to the next level.

Graham Tippett (1977-) studied literature, music and languages in the UK before making a permanent move to Mexico in 2005. It was there he began to explore and research methods of improvisation on the guitar and published the '2 Position Scale System' series of instruction books in 2014, which are the fruit of that research. He is also well-known for his love of languages and music, drawing parallels between the two art forms as he continues to write and research on the subjects of language learning and improvisation. His relentless research into guitar improvisation has recently lead to the creation of the Hacking the CAGED System series of books, and Soloing Without Scales - an alternative look at how to improvise on guitar. Graham is also a graduate of the ACM (Academy of Contemporary Music) in Guildford, where he was taught by the likes of Guthrie Govan, Dave Kilminster, Eric Roche and many others.

I chose 4 stars because this book is beyond beginners and that's not specified up front before purchasing. However for more advanced players moving beyond just playing Pentatonics and getting a good grip on playing the blues, this is the best place for a logical next step. A short book, containing a limitless path into becoming a true bluesman.

5.0 out of 5 stars a simple but effective process

If, like me, you’re bogged down with too many books and courses and YouTube videos, this ebook reduces things to the basics. The basics for 12 bar blues and the basics for mixing major and minor. It’s all right here and if a person just practiced this every day, they would be very bluesy.

On pouvait s'attendre à des exemples d'utilisation des concepts ? RIEN ! Uniquement des grilles que l'on retrouve dans tous les bons manuels traitant des pentatoniques !
=> ne pas gaspiller son argent pour des informations disponibles gratuitement partout !

We could expect examples of the use of concepts? NOTHING ! Only grids found in all good textbooks dealing with pentatonics! => do not waste your money for information available for free everywhere!
