She asserts that maybe if we can scale back our desires or our expectations, we may have a better chance of managing what we have instead of trying to figure out how get more! It has confirmed what I suspected was happening to so many today, and affirmed my efforts to do just what we should be doing, and that is to be satisfied with what we have.
The author states (and I agree) that many personal finance books assume middle to high levels of income. This book assumes a more modest level of income. She looks back in time to a simpler lifestyle and lower levels of spending to provide perspective on what really is necessary to survive and how to fund a lovely simpler lifestyle.

To give the books their due - The books read extremely pleasantly and rather dreamily.
They are simply written and rather like a persons thoughts than direct communication or advice
They feel slightly patronising at times but i was prepared to overlook this and they would not necessarily appeal to a modern woman or an
Old fashioned woman who can formulate her own independent thoughts and opinions
The Christian side of the writing is what made me want to read the books
I was swayed along by Mrs Whites dream
Like existence and seemingly very Christian existence
I then decided to join her Facebook group for the books subject matter - homemaking the Christian way apparently- and I always left Likes and very praiseworthy comments
I then discovered I had been barred from the group purely on account of my appearance- I am a glamour model and I choose not to dress as Mrs White suggests we do ; which is conservatively
Mrs White writes about loving the Lord reverently on almost each page of her books and her online blog
Yet the Hypocrisy of her Judgements on certain women like myself is in fact entirely anti Christian
One of the Lords main teachings is this -
Judge not, that ye be not judged
I rest my case
Extreme disappointment and money truly wasted on this
Beware
