For large rooms up to 490 square feet, the Whirlpool Whispure Air Purifier features electronic controls and 4 fan speeds, including Turbo Setting to clear the air quickly, and Sleep Mode for quiet operation while saving energy. The True HEPA filter captures 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns. A charcoal pre-filter traps odors and pre-cleans the air before it reaches the HEPA filter.

This unit replaces our original - that is exactly like it. The only reason we are replacing the original is because we've had it running 24/7 for three years and feel like it needs retirement. It still works great and all but we are thinking it's time to replace it. We have two parrots and one of them sheds a powdery substance that this unit is great at collecting. We know that because it needs cleaning about every 4 days from the powder. I highly recommend this air purifier !!

Longest lasting air purifiers I've ever had. Others may offer fancy gadgets or other bells and whistles but if you want a unit that can run 24x7, 365 days a year for years and years, go with these whirlpool units. I have 4 of them and the oldest is approximately 14 years old and still going strong (knock on wood). They may make a little wind noise on max but the newer ones have a sleep mode button that slows it down for 8 hours and then puts it back to the previous setting when done. It's quieter in sleep mode than on Max. I have all 4 of them running on max circulation 24x7. It's amazing how much dust they pick up that would otherwise be circulating through the house. I live in Las Vegas and there is an inordinate amount of dust in the air and these are perfect for keeping my home clean and clear.

I bought this to help with my allergies, and my other Whirlpool air purifier worked well so I got this larger one for my living room/kitchen. My indoor air is noticeably more comfortable to breathe after using this. It was very simple to set up, just took it out of the box and plugged it in! I love that I can back it up against the wall. It sucks in air from the front and then blows it out from the top of the unit; on a hot day, it feels nice to stick your face over it! I'm sensitive to noise, and I find it annoying even on the lowest setting. However, it's not a big problem for me if I'm not sleeping in the same room as it (with how loud it is, I would not recommend it for a bedroom if you have problems sleeping with fans on), and I usually cannot hear it from my bedroom at night. I've never tried another brand of air purifier, so idk how it compares to other brands in terms of sound or air filtration quality. I'm very happy with the quality of my air after using this product.

12 years ago I was wandering around at Sears and they had 1 Whispure air filter, the demo model that was still for sale. I talked them into discounting it by about $10 and I bought it.
A week ago, after running practically 24/7, it made a small, dying gasp and just quit! I was there by its side, it was a solemn moment. :-(
Anyway, I went right to Amazon and found one just like the old one and it was delivered the next day! Same filter types as the old one.... I plugged it in and it's purring softly in my bedroom as I write this.
Also, did I mention I have 4 cats and you should see the dander and fuzz that these filters would pull out of the air. That first floor model taught me about the quality of these machines!
I would highly recommend this product. A bit pricey but well worth it.

If you have allergies, this is a great air cleaner with a pre-filter and very large HEPA filter. You replace the pre-filter about every two months and HEPA filter lasts for over a year. The unit tells you when to replace each of them. This unit has four speeds with a "turbo" that's load and works the best after vacuuming a room. I run it on turbo for a few hours, then turn down to low, which is quite soft and acts as a "white noise" at night time. Very easy to replace filters. I bought this one for a friend, but I've had one in my bedroom for several years with no issues.

Still using older Whirlpool AP450 units for the last 10 to 15 years and love them! I bought this one (WP500 / AP51030K) in early 2023 and another one 6 months earlier. The motor in this newer model started making excessive noise within a few weeks of receiving it and the first one lasted about six months before the motor noise also made that one unusable. After being a loyal Whirlpool air purifier customer for last 20 plus years I've now switched over to other Manufacturer whose name also starts with a 'W' and very happy with their units. I heard other negative reviews on these newer Whirlpool units but refused to believe them based on my experience with the older models. Don't make the same mistake.

For us, this is the best air cleaner out there. We’ve had one in our bedroom for over 10 years and still runs quietly unless you set it on high of course. The filters are very easily changed out. The Hepa will go basically a year without changing. The flexible charcoal pre filter will need changing a few times a year. If we happen to not have an extra pre filter , my wife just vacuum’s it with one of the attachments and it’s good fo another couple of months. Worth every penny!
