DE89LBLAMZ Head

CLEAN SHAVE

The two-part die-cast razor head has been expertly engineered to deliver a shave that is gentle on the skin but still very close and smooth. The classic Edwin Jagger closed comb head is chrome-plated and hand-polished before delivery. Famous among the wet-shaving community, this razor boasts an excellent reputation for the expert level of shaving it achieves.

DE89LBLAMZ End Cap

PREMIUM QUALITY

Machined from solid brass, triple-plated and hand-polished, the Edwin Jagger DE89L has an elegant and sophisticated metallic design. The handle is finished with an attractive scratch-resistant lined chrome plating, with 'EDWIN JAGGER' proudly engraved on the collar.

DE89LBLAMZ Deconstructed

CLASSIC DESIGN

With an overall length of 3.7", this is a standard-sized razor. The practical 3.3" handle is designed to be easy to use with great levels of maneuverability and agility. The handle is light and small, but the head is heavy, which keeps you from taking a chance and cutting yourself, while still giving you the control you need to achieve a close, professional shave.

DE AMZ Packaging

PROFESSIONAL RESULTS

At 2.4oz, this is a decently weighted razor, providing a reliable shave. Slightly heavier than common disposable razors, you can use the extra weight to your advantage and allow the agile razor to glide across your face without having to apply pressure. This means fewer cuts, less irritation, and a smoother shave overall.

This Collection combines the latest technology and traditional techniques to produce elegant razors. Balance and shape ensure professional shaving experiences every day.

Never before have I used a real razor except for the cheap disposable name brands. I decided after all of these years to go back in time when my grandfather was alive and try shaving like they did back then. Always had fond memories of him shaving with a blade and brush and putting this rich lather on his face... It was a everyday ritual for him. Did some research on some sites devoted to shaving etc... saw Edwin Jagger and loved this razor. Love the detail and craftsmanship and the history behind this company. (if they been around for a few hundred years than they have to be good). I have never had a closer shave before in my life. Yes, there is a little bit of a learning curve and yes I did get a nick here and there.... But those were rookie mistakes. I understand there are different types of blades etc... And I plan on getting a blade sample pack to try and find which blades work best. I will never go back to plastic disposables again. Just like the 3 bears states, not to big, and not to small, it is just right! ( my version ). Oh... Get some glycerin shave soap if you are new to safety razors... I got some Van Der Hagen and works great and at a good price too.10-20-2012 : So far so good.... I really enjoy this safety razor. I got a great deal on blades that should last me a long time. I actually save money by not purchasing those throw away disposables. The weight and feel and the textured handle really helps keep a good steady grip. I suggest you get a good boar shaving brush to lather with and glycerin shaving soap and it will be the closest shave you will ever have.1-2-2013 Well..... It finally happened. I dropped it and the head of the razor snapped off. I know it is totally my fault but I was shaving in the shower and dropped it. Dropped it about 4-5 times before it finally broke.Review of the Merkur 180 HD and why I prefer the EJ...I got this to replace the Edwin Jagger DE89Lbl ( 9 is the model year). I have dropped it in the shower a few times (totally my fault) and the head broke off. So I decided that I would try another brand just to see if there is a big difference. Well the Merkur arrived and I have shaved with it twice and it gives a pretty decent shave and the handle is slightly larger with a buckwheat etched handle with a good feel so it doesn't slip. For me I prefer the Edwin Jagger DE89BA11 Double Edge Safety Razor, Barley Chrome (the 2011 model). In researching the many DE razors out on the market, they also have models that have been updated hence the DE89BA11 because it was updated in 2011 with a slightly different weight distribution in the handle. So the 1st EJ that I bought was a older model DE89Lbl which is a 2009 model.Unfortunately this info is not always in the product info and when trying to replace the EJ all they have on Amazon is the 09 model year and not the 2011. I had to go out of the Amazon sphere which I found several sites that do have the most current model and was actually a few bucks cheaper. As much as I love Amazon, you still have to do your research.Ok... now for the reason I prefer the EJ razor over the Merkur.... the quality and the finish of the EJ is far superior. The chrome is brilliant, and not one flaw on the chrome of the EJ. The Merkur was lighter, but had many blemishes and just not as elegant in my opinion. Yes the Merkur is good, but I cant wait to get my Edwin Jagger DE89BA11 Double Edge Safety Razor, Barley Chrome (the 2011 model) soon. I will use the Merkur as a back up and possibly use to travel with so in case I loose it I still have my Edwin Jagger.
