Although I've been a writer most of my life, I became an author because I was a blogger first. I started blogging when I changed my life completely and knew I had to share what I was learning with others. Surely I couldn't be the only one who wanted a better life by living more simply. After a few years I'd built a very successful blog with an international audience and then Penguin came knocking at my door.

My first book, Down to Earth, is still selling well. My second book, The Simple Life, sold out on the first day and was reprinted the day after publication. Many people want to live simply but don't know how to start, or need the motivation to continue. I think my books offer that at the very least; I hope you find they give you much more.

I have long enjoyed Rhonda's blog and wished her books were available here in the States. It was good to find out Amazon now sold them for the Kindle.

This little book is simply the story of how Rhonda and her husband came to change their lifestyle and over the years go from a two career couple to becoming more self sufficient. Along with their story, Rhonda shares good advice.

It makes for enjoyable reading when one has just a little time here and there, especially those of us who desire to become more self sufficient... even if it is only by growing some of our own veggies.

This is a short book and a pleasant read. Rhonda and her husband didn’t start out to be minimalists, but they did purposefully go from a fast, consumerist lifestyle to a slow, simple lifestyle, and it made them emotionally rich with love and satisfaction. Rhonda and her husband live in a rural area, but she is quick to point out the decisions they made in changing their lifestyle were particular to them, and that there are different, but philosophically similar, decisions that everyone can make when simplifying. My take away from the book is it’s okay to be a bit odd, going against the consumerist grain of society, and live slower and happier. It’s a feel-good kind of book, and I’d like to read more from her.

An inspired and inspiring piece of writing. The author distills her life philosophy clearly and quickly, giving real life examples along the way.

I started working towards the simple life several years ago but still have to work outside the home to get to where I really want to be - working INSIDE the home. Rondha's words provide encouragement, reminding me to enjoy the journey and the work I do, although not what I would choose to do long term, it will eventually allow me to live the life I want one day.

I'm really sorry, but by the time I started looking at this publication, I had already looked at six others, and I had become burnt out on the idea of simplifying my life, but HAD come to the realization that I was seeking something to tell me to be present in my self and in my life. So if these books did accomplish that, then I thank the authors for that.

I have just turned sixty and just decided to retire this week, I just love this advice on how to live a simpler life, and how to grow more of and make our own food, and to be more content to work in my own home am motivated by rhonda to start by baking my own bread and relishes to start with, it does remind me of my grandparents and theirs nothing better than the smell of home baked bread.

I have Rhonda's other book and I just love it, I grabbed this when it became available and although it is a bit shorter than I expected it has some really interesting thoughts about how simplifying our life changes the way we feel out our home. This book is more about changing what we think that what we do.
