About the Author

When Kelly Bejelly was told that she was prediabetic in 2009, she tried the Paleo diet in a last-ditch effort to cure herself. Within six months, she lost sixty-five pounds, normalized her blood sugar levels, and won her battle with anxiety and depression. She then began experiment-ing with grain-free recipes in an attempt to convince her picky-eater husband that giving up gluten was not a life sentence to a tasteless existence. Now Kelly shares Paleo comfort food recipes on her website, A Girl Worth Saving, and proves that you can still enjoy your favorite recipes without grains, gluten, or dairy. Kelly lives in Portland, Oregon, with her husband and son.

Surprised and Delighted!
I've made the pizza, the sloppy joes, the cereal, the cucumber salad, and the "oatmeal" cookies. All winners and worth the price of the book just in those gems! I like that the recipes are a bit simpler and less exotic than a lot of the other paleo books. This book and Danielle Walker's books will be the books I reach for again and again. The only minor thing is that there is quite a bit of tapioca flour in the baked goods, but that's okay because treats should be occasional anyway. The tapioca is what makes them such a good texture. Why make treats if they aren't delicious, right?

I'm so stoked to finally get my hands on this Paleo cookbook! I just received my copy yesterday and couldn't wait to open this beautiful cookbook and drool over all the recipes that Kelly put together to make this cookbook so fabulous. If the pictures were alive and real, I would have eaten every single one of them by now. The photographs of the food are amazing. The recipes are simple and have ingredients from the most basic Paleo pantry so you don't need to race to the store to purchase something you're not familiar with to start cooking! Kelly put a lot of thought into this book especially for women (and men!) who do not have a ton of time to spend in the kitchen. Simple, quick, delicious. I can't wait for her sequel to "Paleo Eats". I write this post with sincerity and appreciation for Kelly and her dedication to her health. She has shown me how important it is to take care of my body through nutrient dense foods with simple recipes. Thank you Kelly for sharing your journey and your commitment to not only your own health but the health of others.

I just received this book and so far have been very impressed with both the amount and the quality of information in this book. Contains stories, substitution options, conversions, paleo baking tips, pantry suggestions...
Not to mention that it's beautiful to look at, organized well, and written with a great writing style - highly relatable and fun, yet practical.

These recipes range from easy to more advanced, but they are all very doable, even as a novice cook.

The ingredients remain simple and straightforward. I really like how it is written - it shows you how you can do A LOT with a FEW ingredients. Perfect for those like me who like it simple.

The recipes themselves look delicious - y'know, stuff that you'd actually eat. On a regular basis. Some more exotic dishes thrown in here and there, can't wait to try them (eg. unfried ice cream).

This is a REAL paleo cookbook, NOT a crappy cookbook with shady "paleo" recipes.

Oh My Goodness , i'm in love with this cookbook!!!! I got my copy yesterday afternoon and today I made the coconut cinnamon cereal (the best!) and for dinner I made the chicken parmesan (sans the parmesan part) which my husband raved about all through dinner!!! First off, the book is visually beautiful, big color photos for every recipe which is a feature that sails my boat! I love to pick what to cook by seeing a photo. The second thing I love about this cookbook is that the ingredients lists for all the recipes are short and simple. And the best part is.........having given up grains recently, the cookbook offers recipes to satisfy all my cravings for comfort foods made with grains that I grew up eating making the transition to going gluten free MUCH less painful. Buy this cookbook, you will not be disappointed!

This is a beautiful book, and Kelly's warmth and enthusiasm shine through. She loves good food, and she knows how to help us prepare delicious food.

The photos are beautiful, and the instructions are clear. I appreciate that, if one is already following Paleo food prep, no additional shopping is required for specialty items. But if I *did* need a pantry item, she's got me covered with a listing of suggested sources. Extras to help us better incorporate the recipes into our plans are: (1) on the recipe page, mentions of other dishes in the cookbook that would go well with this dish; (2) a graphic element at the bottom of the recipe page identifies which menu category the dish fits into, and sometimes there is also a special notation that the recipe fits into a special event category such as birthday/holiday. To easily find a recipe, there is a section toward the back of the book where each recipe in a menu category is listed using a small photo - for those of us with visual memories. I use an index a lot to find recipes and I have found a few issues with this index. So I will either write in missing entries or perhaps use the visual index of recipe categories, or maybe even turn to the Table of Contents.

This is a "comfort food" cookbook, and I'm looking forward to trying many of the recipes. "Food from the Heart." The Honey Ginger Carrots were a hit yesterday. I've been making the Sweet Bread, but have had to make some adjustments. I've read elsewhere, though, that the brand of coconut flour one uses can make a huge difference in how the baked goods turn out. I'm not quite satisfied yet, but DH asks for me to make it when we run out, so it's enough of a success.

I'm pretty sure this is going to be one of my "go-to" books among my Paleo cookbooks. I'm looking forward to many delicious meals incorporating these recipes. Am especially looking forward to the No-Bake Chocolate Raspberry 'Cheesecake.' (Valentine's Day is coming up soon, and it's going to be on the menu!)

This is a great collection of recipes with an emphasis on baking. There are a lot of paleo versions of childhood favorites, including cookies, pies, breads, rolls, etc. The main flours used are tapioca, almond and coconut. The main sweeteners used are maple syrup and honey. The recipes are delicious and healthy and completely paleo, but if weight loss is your goal be careful of the sweets. They are so good, it's hard to stop. ;0)

I love Kelly's new cookbook! Actually, I love all the new Paleo cookbooks I've bought but they are all very complicated! That's why I Iove Paleo Eats so much! Kelly makes the foods I grew up with, simple and easy to make! I'm not a cook, but the simple steps she uses in this cookbook have made me a believer! I can cook healthy, delicious foods that my family will eat without the complicated steps many Paleo recipes require. And the writing makes me feel like a friend is teaching me how to cook! . Thanks, Kelly for this cookbook! It feels like we've been friends a long time!

Easy to follow recipes, using readily available ingredients to make tasty foods. In the interests of full dislosure, I am a long time follower of the Kelly Bejelly's blog, A Girl Worth Saving, so my opinion may be biased.

Whether you are just beginning your paleo journey or have a well established routine of eating fresh whole foods, this book is a welcome addition to any paleo library
