About the author
Kelly Bejelly is the recipe developer, writer and photographer behind the popular grain-free food blog, Agirlworthsaving.net. She is the author of the cookbook, Paleo Eats: 101 Comforting Gluten-Free, Grain-Free and Dairy-Free Recipes for the Foodie in You.
After being diagnosed as pre-diabetic in 2009, in a last-ditch effort to save herself, she tried the Paleo diet. Within six months, she lost 65 lbs, normalized her blood sugars, and ended her battle with mental anxiety and depression.
Her cooking style focuses on "Paleo Cooking from Heart". You know what I'm talking about. . .
The soft chocolate chip cookies you shared with your mom hot out of the oven. The sweet and sour meatballs that you got every time you visited your favorite Chinese restaurant. The key lime pie your grandmother made every time she visited.
She lives in Portland, Oregon with her husband and her two sons.

Not to mention that it's beautiful to look at, organized well, and written with a great writing style - highly relatable and fun, yet practical.
These recipes range from easy to more advanced, but they are all very doable, even as a novice cook.
The ingredients remain simple and straightforward. I really like how it is written - it shows you how you can do A LOT with a FEW ingredients. Perfect for those like me who like it simple.
The recipes themselves look delicious - y'know, stuff that you'd actually eat. On a regular basis. Some more exotic dishes thrown in here and there, can't wait to try them (eg. unfried ice cream).
This is a REAL paleo cookbook, NOT a crappy cookbook with shady "paleo" recipes.
The photos are beautiful, and the instructions are clear. I appreciate that, if one is already following Paleo food prep, no additional shopping is required for specialty items. But if I *did* need a pantry item, she's got me covered with a listing of suggested sources. Extras to help us better incorporate the recipes into our plans are: (1) on the recipe page, mentions of other dishes in the cookbook that would go well with this dish; (2) a graphic element at the bottom of the recipe page identifies which menu category the dish fits into, and sometimes there is also a special notation that the recipe fits into a special event category such as birthday/holiday. To easily find a recipe, there is a section toward the back of the book where each recipe in a menu category is listed using a small photo - for those of us with visual memories. I use an index a lot to find recipes and I have found a few issues with this index. So I will either write in missing entries or perhaps use the visual index of recipe categories, or maybe even turn to the Table of Contents.
This is a "comfort food" cookbook, and I'm looking forward to trying many of the recipes. "Food from the Heart." The Honey Ginger Carrots were a hit yesterday. I've been making the Sweet Bread, but have had to make some adjustments. I've read elsewhere, though, that the brand of coconut flour one uses can make a huge difference in how the baked goods turn out. I'm not quite satisfied yet, but DH asks for me to make it when we run out, so it's enough of a success.
I'm pretty sure this is going to be one of my "go-to" books among my Paleo cookbooks. I'm looking forward to many delicious meals incorporating these recipes. Am especially looking forward to the No-Bake Chocolate Raspberry 'Cheesecake.' (Valentine's Day is coming up soon, and it's going to be on the menu!)

Nur immer daran denken, wenn Amerikaner von almond flower sprechen, gibt es bei denen nicht wie bei uns das Mandelmehl, sonder sehr fein gemahlene Mandeln.
Whether you are just beginning your paleo journey or have a well established routine of eating fresh whole foods, this book is a welcome addition to any paleo library
