I just received this product, and I absolutely love it! While there is some fuzzy air sound in the background (and this could be due in part to the inexpensive cassette tape I am using), it picks up singing/instruments with amazing accuracy and clarity. I have been thoroughly impressed and have been using it extensively. The battery power so far seems to be working very well, and the volume can go up rather high. I was definitely surprised by it's quality considering the price, and would recommend it to anyone who would like a simple, inexpensive way to record for a good, decent sound.

I use these portable recorders to tape and listen to tapes while I walk so I need something small enough to fit two of them into a fanny pack front pocket. This is exactly what I need. It's easy to use and has a good window for seeing how much tape I have left to record or listen to. The only thing I don't like on it is the voice activated switch as I'm afraid it will get moved and I don't think to check it--I always think the batteries must have gone bad. But this one is in a position that it will be least likely to get moved the wrong way accidentally so that's a plus. Great price also.

A few months ago my old hand-held cassette tape recorder stopped functioning. It was beyond repair, so I needed to get a new one. After some searching, I chose this cassette recorder from Sony. I've had it for over a month and it works fine. I particularly like how the "record" button is colored bright red and it isn't right next to the play button so you should never make the mistake of accidentally hitting record when you really wanted to hit play (something that happened every now and again with my old recorder). It's been years since I bought my old recorder, so I was quite surprised to find that the average hand held cassette recorder is now selling for about $40. This device sells for less than that. I've been quite satisfied with the Sony TCM-150 and recommend it. As a side note, the label for this device says it comes in a carton of three--that is a mistake. You only get one, but the seller has them in cartons of three.

This is a good recorder which is handy, simple and dependable. The price is right too. The quality is reasonably good, at least good for what I use it for, which is recording piano tunes just for further development. I lost my previous Sony TCM150 so I had to buy a new one this time, so this is a repeat buy.

I purchased this recorder for a dear, elderly friend. Her previous player had broken and she had been unable to find a replacement locally. She's very choosy about things, so I was taking a chance in buying this player for her.

She called me right away to sing its praises. Although the unit is capable of recording and has other functional capabilities, my friend's primary concern was that she could play her nightly cassettes with minimal confusion and maximum ease. She loved the sound quality, unit size, and user friendly buttons.

I love my friend and I'm always pleased when I can make her happy (which isn't always easy). She hates change--unless it's change for the better, which this was. I was able to please her, which pleased me. After seeing her player/recorder, think I'll get another for myself.

Sure, I have several cassette players that are part of stereo/boombox systems. I mainly use mp3 players or cd's, but still have plenty of cassettes around. I'll also use this player/recorder for spoken word projects. That I can easily take this unit anywhere (can even throw it into my tote bag and use it with or without earbuds) also make it a great choice. Love it.

I bought my recorder used from ShopCell -- it arrived without a box, in an envelope mailer. Totally unprofessional. Then, after 3 uses and 3 months, it stopped working. I thought it was a fluke a month ago when it quit after a couple of minutes -- put in new batteries & thought that would solve the problem. It didn't. They won't stand behind it & replace it. I'll never buy from them again, that's for sure. As for this recorder, I don't know if they sold me an improperly reconditioned unit, a broken unit, or an old unit that was on its last legs. $40 down the drain.

I don't need much. I am not even going to use it for recording. Amazon has the correct info that recording is Mono. But it shows that it supports STEREO playback. I have old stereo tapes and stereo personal recordings that I just want to make stereo digital versions using a tape player. So I just wanted something small and cheap. This claimed to fit the bill. Well I get it in the mail and I notice it say "EAR" where it should say "Headphones". I remember in the past that meaning mono. So the first thing I do it open the manual and sure enough under the section labeled "Playing a Tape", it says "If you plug in headphones to the EAR jack, you will get mono output from the left and right channels."

And sure enough, put in a stereo tape and it's mono mixed output with headphones! That is a HUGE selling point issue for me! If I had know it was Mono output only, I wouldn't have bought it, regardless of how cheap. I gave it 2 stars because Amazon lists that as "I am not happy" with it. Which is the case.

As the newspaper and yearbook adviser at my high school, one of the best tools any journalist can have is a portable tape recorder. Sony's TCM-150 is the most economical and reliable recorder I've found.

To be sure, there are no extras. It doesn't have a counter. There is no half-speed recording option to double the recording time of a cassette. And there is no variable-speed playback option either.

What it DOES have is a one-touch recording feature, a puase button that works in both "record" and "playback" mode, and a built-in microphone that works just fine for my students to record interviews. Is there an audible hum when playing back an interview? Sure, but that's not an issue for me or my students. The recording quality is actually quite good. If you are looking for an audiophile quality tape recorder, you're going to be spending way more than what this little gem costs.

From my experience with this product (and I have several of them). this is an economical, versatile and reliable recorder. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Affordable, clear sounding and easy to use. It doesn't come with a tape which would have been nice but was able to find a tape. The recorder was cheaper on amazon than in walmart even with the shipping. A good buy.

C-60/90 CASSETTES IS A GREAT FIND. IN THE MODERN AGE OF MP3`S AND SUCH THEY ARE GETTING HARDER TO GET HOLD OF SO IT`S GREAT TO SEE A COMPANY LIKE SONY ARE STILL PRODUCING THE EQUIPMENT TO PLAY THESE MEDIA! I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT TO ANYONE, AND THE SOUND QUALITY OF IT IS GREAT, TOO! WONDERFUL VOLUME ON IT, AMD VERY EASY TO USE. WELL DONE SONY!
