I received the TEW-635BRM on a Tuesday morning, and tried using the wizard for installation (for A.T.T. DSL). I could not get connected, and ATT would not help, since it is not an "approved" modem. The unit froze after about 2 hrs., and it would not reset, and I could no longer log on to the router. I did a return to Amazon, and as is usual, they shipped another unit which arrived on Wed.
The second unit would still not work with ATT., I downloaded the latest firmware, and it installed fine. No Help! I believe the problem has to do with the unit not cloning the computer MAC address, but I'm not sure. I have several wireless, and 3 wired computers, so I couldn't disable the DHCP function, and again asked Amazon for a return, which was sent immediately.
Amazon has been great, as usual, but I can't recommend this unit for obvious reasons. BTW, the Trendnet support phone number is nowhere to be found on their manual, so log on to their web page before you dis-connect you present setup, and write it down, if you try this unit.

This modem/router works with Nettalk internet phone device and AT&T, BUT YOU SHOULD CHECK IF AT&T STILL ALLOWS THIRD-PARTY MODEMS/ROUTERS. AT&T appears to have changed their internet equipment in a way that only allows their modems to work with their equipment.

SETTING UP MODEM/ROUTER FOR AT&T INTERNET USERS (Important information above!)

First, have your modem/router connected to your computer and phone line wall socket as directed on the manual instructions (pg. 3). Do not go beyond page 3 yet. You will need to update the firmware of your modem/router so it can work with AT&T. Go to Trendnet's official website, and download the latest "firmware" for your modem/router. To get you started, look for the "Downloads" link on the website. Then, once you have downloaded the firmware/files, read the directions that came in the download.

Now that you have updated the firmware of your modem/router, follow the manual directions on how to set up your modem/router to your AT&T internet service (pgs. 4-6) AND USE THE INFORMATION BELOW to help you:

"Setup wizard" settings you should use for AT&T internet

Connection to Configure: VC 1 (Router-Primary Internet Connection)
Method of Determining the ADSL Parameter (VPI/VCI): Manual Selection
VPI: 0
VCI: 35
DSL Modulation: MultiMode
Login: PPPoE
DSL Multiplexing Method: (LLC-based)
Login name: Use your AT&T email. It usually ends in att.net. If you don't have it or have one, call AT&T.
Password: Use your AT&T network password, NOT your email password. AT&T changed this about two years ago. If you don't know it, call AT&T.

Continue following your manual instructions. Look at the comments submitted by other Amazon reviewers for more help.

SETTING UP NETTALK ON THE MODEM/ROUTER

Once you have set up your modem/router and you are able to access the internet, you will be ready to connect your Nettalk device to the modem/router. Follow the instructions that came with the Nettalk device. After connecting the Nettalk device to the modem/router, wait for about one minute. Your phone should ring once. If it rings, you're done! If it doesn't ring or the light on the Nettalk device is not green, you will need to call Nettalk technical support.

I hope this helps.

I set one of these up for my father in law. The only issue I had was with his ATT DSL user account password. The device would not accept his password that he had used on his ATT 2Wire modem. It simply wouldn't allow it. It kept generating a "Passwords must be in ASCI characters" error message. We called ATT. They were both helpful and patient; they seem trained only to support the 2Wire modem, but they hung with me for over an hour while I got this worked out. They reset the password and generated a new one and within 15 minutes I was on the Internet. When I went to the ATT user account site to change to a new user generated password, the Trendnet modem would not accept the change. The same ASCI character error message. ATT reset the password and generated another new one for me. The modem accepted it and I was online again. Another attempt to setup a user defined password failed again. ATT gave me another new password and I was online quickly again. I gave up on trying to change it.

As far as speed, my father in law reports a noticeable improvement over the 2Wire we replaced.

As far as features, this device has more than I understand. It has all the latest technologies and is quite configurable. It has switches to toggle Power and WPS and Wireless funtions on the back.

The settings for ATT DSL are:
Connection to Configure: (VC 1)
Connection Method: (Manual)
VPI: (0)
VCI: (35)
Internet login: (PPPoE)
DSL Multiplexing: (LLC mode)
PPPoE login name: (your primary email address)
PPPoe Password: (your primary email password...this is where I had trouble)

I have set up Zoom and USRobotic modem routers with less frustration, but the improved speed warrants four stars for this device. I got it for under $100 at a local retailer.

Update: I am adding the following solution provided by another, more savvy, user. Thanks "OS".

"This modem has some faulty code that does not allow you to use your regular SBC/ATT dsl username/password. The fix is to download the latest firmware patch from Trendnet. Look up this model on the Trendnet website and go to their downloads link. You will see the firmware update that specifically addresses the "Passwords must be in ASCI characters" error everyone seems to be getting when trying to enter their DLS credentials into the router config screens. Download the firmware (which comes with instructions) and install it on the modem. After the firmware is installed, reboot the device and that particular input page will now work as intended. I've done a few Google searches and am amazed that no one has posted this. The patch has been out since May of 09."

Works quite well, in use for 6 months. ASked a question to trendnet using the web interface and got an answer in 24 to 48 hours, a satisfactory answer to a question about measuring total trafic monthly (no way to do it thru the router), but at least they answered in a cordial and fast way. Product is stable and has lasted more than certain competitor products. Works perfect with Telefonica del Peru Speedy service.
