Product Description

The anniversary Hot Drive’n Boost MK3, featuring a complete new overdrive design that gives a even more authentic “tube” simulating overdrive than the original HDB, which is know to be one of the best. The new HDB MK3 sound like a tweaked up quality tube amp, and on contrary nearly every other overdrive pedal does it not change the original tone, has no midrange pronouncement, no low end cut of, no high end cut of, all that gives a tone of a clear brilliant tube drive of it’s own. FEATURING: Built in mains power supply. Two in on functions (overdrive & boost). Blue high bright LED. With the BOOST feature the Hot Drive'n Boost MK3 is a "TWO IN ONE" pedal. That allows you to get that extra "kick" (up to 20db) for solos to really stand out. The Hot Drive'n Boost MK3 has a built in regulated (+-12V) power supply. This enables us to design circuitry of the highest quality with maximum headroom. The low output impedance insures a lo noise connection, and gives improved working conditions for the guitar amp.

The first reviewer must be joking or not to be taken seriously. I've hear of this boost/drive that I've decided to give it a try. What a disappointment that is. I've tried much cheaper pedals that produce decent sound for a fraction of the price and without the noise. That hum when the boost is used, is so annoying and you start to feel it when the level is at 1.5. So when you want to go loud, the noise will be there with you - going louder. So some say well you need a humbucker not a single coil, and a tube amp, and special cables and blah blah blah...that's their overly used line to get away with poor performance. I don't mind them saying that as along as they print it on their product label or something in the description that says: Not as great for single coil guitar, will not be friendly with Stratocaster" or something like that and I will be fine with it. But paying top dollar to discover that I could have gotten a better deal with cheaper pedal, is outrageous... and you know what, the sound is not that great anyway (in my opinion of course).
Wouldn't recommend that, unless I see it used somewhere without being noisy.

Most of us continue to look for the holy grail and never find it. This is about as close as I've come in terms of good overall blues/rock tones. Dead quiet, high headroom, good options for boosts.

This is a serious pedal. I've had this for 3 years now and it will stay as part of my gear forever. Got it used. No issues with it. No noise (not sure why someone here said is noisy) at least mine isn't and I use single coil pickup (Tele) and Vox hardwired amp. This pedal is made in Denmark. This is an OD not a distortion pedal. It works as meant to be, for those who are looking for a natural tube sounding pedal with lots of balls. The sound is great, specially on low setting, turning the gain all the way up does get a little harsh for my ears. The wave control is very important as I've noticed that the pedal will react very differently depending on the tone of the guitar and the amp you use, so you just need to adjust the wave to your liking. The pedal gives a lot of character to your tone. Sound cleans very well when lowering the volume of your pickups. Performs great with other gear. I have a higher gain OD pedal that I use before the mk3 that I only engage if I want a more compressed led tone for solos. The mk3 is absolutely great for chopping chords with some drive (thing of Gilmour), for playing blues, classic rock etc. Last but not least.. the best part of this pedal is the boost portion. The boost is so good I would keep it only for that main purpose if I didn't like the drive portion (which is not the case). Using both drive and boost gets incendiary.. fantastic. This pedal has soul embedded everywhere. I have compared it side by side with many other OD pedals and they all just pale against this gem.
