A beautifully illustrated and very informative book that details bamboo types, growing conditions and best of all, how to turn this wonderful plant into useful projects. The gates, in particular, inspire the reader to get right out there and build them because they are such a worth while and gorgeous addition to any garden. Smaller projects, such as garden trellises, are entirely manageable and the furniture building ideas spark creativity. I built a a 6 foot wide by 5 foot tall trellis to support peas that has really added to the beauty of my vegatable garden and elicits great comments from neighbors and passers-by alike. I need to add that the book was so fairly priced I couldn't pass it up.

This book was very inspiring on ways to use up pesky, invasive Bamboo cane to make some lovely, useful and inexpensive things for house and garden, which grows widely in my area. I used this book in conjunction with Building Bamboo Fences (Japanese author) to build myself two large trellises to act as a screen between my neighbor's property and mine. Also, this book showed me that bamboo, while an incredibly invasive weed, also has great potential both as an ornamental and for use as a very inexpensive, yet tough and durable building material, especially in garden landscapes. My only disappointment was that I was unable to locate the Bamboo Farm where many of the projects in the book were created. They do not seem to have a website. If anyone knows the website, I would like to learn more about the Bamboo Farm in Georgia.

This is a wonderful book that has lots of ideas for using bamboo. We have so much bamboo growing around our place it is nice to see some uses for it besides feeding it to our livestock in the winter time. Even our chickens eat the green leaves during the winter and then we can use the stalks to build something else!

This book surprised me in that it is far more useful than I would have thought (judging by the cover and some of the topics covered). Yeah, there are some cheesy craft projects shown... but there are some great ideas on how to build bamboo fences that mimick traditional Japanese fences using western techniques and that's what I was most interested in when I bought it. It's an inexpensive book that's actually worth much more than the cover price.
