Customers are not satisfied with the surface of the casserole. They mention that it has an extremely rough surface and is not particularly well cast. This is a GREAT pan! HOWEVER, you must take the time to polish the bottom or it is not worth it!Although it comes preseasoned, the metal itself is very rough. So rough that I believe no matter how much cooking you did to fill in the pores, it would remain very uneven and be difficult to clean.I took a polymer grinding/polishing wheel to the bottom of the pan to remove the high spots and casting nubs. Then I reseasoned it. There are still some low spots and casting irregularities but 95% of it is smooth.I can cook 10 eggs at a time. 3 pounds of potatoes or two large chickens. Absolutely a must for my family of 8.Now that it’s smooth it is very easy to clean the bottom. I marked it low on the easy to clean because it is soooo heavy and large. My wife doesn’t clean it. Just me.I would buy again for this price. Just be aware of what you are getting into.

What a killer pan! My wife told me to buy the biggest cast iron lasagna pan I could find, and this DEFINITELY does the trick. It is also amazing for roasted chicken, turkey, and even brisket on the smoker. It's huge and ready to work. Very happy with the purchase!

I know it’s costly for a pan, but it’s worth it.
Nice quality. I love cooking on cast iron. Its cleaner, no chemicals leaching from the cookware . This pan is my go to for everything I cook on the top of my stove. I can cook a big mean all the chicken cutlets fit all at once . Lots of pan cakes, eggs for 6 sunny side up, all at once ! And bacon ! I just love this pan . Worth it .

The good...
The thickness is great and this pan feels strong.
Holds a ton and really gets a nice sear on all sorts of things including hash browns and vegetables.
Chili Verde pork and a couple of roasting chickens cooked in the smoker are the favorites to date.
Expect it to be our forever roasting pan and cook many turkeys and stuffing rounds at thanksgiving.

The ok...
The weight can be a bit much. Best to have a strong teenager about to carry it when full.
By the time it is cleaned the weight can get a bit tiresome. Usually worth it.

The seasoning at arrival is only an initial start. More will be needed.

The bad...
It really needed sanding when it arrived to remove casting marks. It took me about 10 minutes with a fine file to get it in great shape. Carefully felt all surfaces for rough spots and removed them.

I use my grill A LOT, and when I saw this pan I had to have it to make chicken in! I knew it was going to be large when I ordered it, but when I got it I was surprised just how large it was. I can easily put three chickens in it (and depending on size I have squeezed 4 whole chickens into this!) It evenly disburses the heat so that the chickens can roast nicely over low heat for hours without me worrying about the bottoms of the burning. I have used it on the top rack of my grill (yes, it is a LARGE grill LOL) over high heat to make an awesome crusty bread, I have used it in my conventional oven to make huge pans of corn bread and it has lived up to my expectations every time I have used it.

The Cons: It is LARGE! This is also one of the pros of this pan - and the specific reason I purchased it.
No lid - I would have LOVED LOVED LOVED a huge domed lid - I just wonder if anyone could have lifted it then!
Storage - you really need to think about where you are going to store this pan because it is approximately the size of a half sheet cake pan. I actually ended up putting to large nails into a wall in my pantry and I hang it instead of trying to find room in my cabinets.

The Pros: It is LARGE! Easily cooks 3 whole chickens with room for all that nice hot air to circulate and make them deliciously browned.
It's cast iron! Built to last, this pan will be something my son and his family will want when I am gone - and it will be just as wonderful then as it is now!
The best thing about cast iron is how evenly it cooks, how durable it is over high heat, and how easily it cleans up - if you are thinking about getting this pan think no more, jump in and do it! You'll love it!

This pan is huge, heavy, and should probably last a lifetime. It's big enough for 8 full size burger patties or a dozen bratwurst, or 2 whole chickens, or pretty much whatever you want to cook in it. It covers 2 eyes on the stove so you can use it as a massive griddle.

Made in China, very heavy, bought it to cook briskets from Sam’s Club. I would have dealt with the weight but don’t want cast iron from China!

This is a great heavy duty roasting pan. Cast iron is quality and works great going from oven to induction cooktop to make gravy from roast drippings. Also works as a great griddle with deep walls. Can fit multiple pieces of French toast etc. overall I’m very happy with the purchase.
