I bought the Sprite bath ball filter a week ago for two reasons: One, our water at our newish house is so chlorinated that simply smelling a glass of it makes my nose tingle. I'm not crazy about me or my kids taking baths (or showers--but that is for a different review)in such chemically-treated water. Also, I have eczema. My skin issue seems to have multiple contributing factors, but I know that chlorinated pools can aggravate it. Given that our water seems to have nose-tingling levels of chlorine, I wanted to see whether filtering out the chemical from my baths and showers would help.
I found it easy to install. Our bath faucet is shaped atypically (our landlord likes fancy bath and sink gear), but I managed to get it on properly on--albeit in a slightly awkward way--in about fifteen minutes. Our bath tub has one handle, and when turned up all the way, all the water runs through the filter. So no problems there.
When I took my first bath in it, I smelled no chlorine whatsoever. The water also had that silky feel that other reviewers talked about. My skin seems less dry and less itchy than it usually does after baths, which is good, too.
When I showed my husband the filter, he immediately laughed and said "That will never work." Our four year old son and two year old daughter take baths in that tub, and he was certain that they would knock it off during their bath. The first time that my son saw it during his bath, he did take it off the hooks. He was also about to squirt soap into it before I intervened. Sigh of relief there. But since then, he (and my daughter, for that matter) have had no interest in the ball, even when water is running through it during their bath. (And they LOVE to fill up various bottles and cups with running bath water, so it's not as if they are playing at the other end of the tub). So I am happy that they will get to take less-chlorinated baths (I'm also happy--in a tongue and cheek sort of way, of course--that I proved DH wrong, LOL).
