Great drives. No packaging problems for me.

The two drives I received were well packaged in individual boxes with internal, plastic suspension pieces on each end of the drive. These were part of a larger order so, both drive boxes were inside a larger box. The packaging was great. The shipping time was quick. All parts worked properly upon arrival. So far, these drives seem to perform very well.

This is the first time I assembled my own system. I selected the components after an ungodly amount of review searching but I am quite happy with the end results. I am over clocking, continually at 3.8GHz with CPU temp at 37 degrees C and the fans are still in silent mode. I built this system to get ready to upgrade to Pro Tools 9 from M-Powered 8. With M-Powered 8 I can now run a ridiculous number of plugins. My new system rocks!

Great drive and I am loving it. Its quite, doesn't get crazy hot and its fast. No issues. Bang for the buck! I read specs on internet and its one of the fastest 1TB SATA drive available. You are getting damn good value for the price its sold for. 32 MB cache, 7200 RPM and SATA interface. Go for it!

There are few HDD available with 64 MB cache and those will outperform this drive sometimes, but those are $20-30 expensive. So choose your priority. The seek times and the average latency is really good for the class it belongs. I am happy with it.

I haven't used this drive for long time so can't comment on its reliability but didn't hear any serious issues so far. I am placing my bets on this one now!

I recently ordered D-Link 2-Bay Network Attached Storage Enclosure DNS-323 and wanted two sata drives. I searched over 20 different models and then wanted to buy a reliable fast
storage drive. Western digital failure reviews were enough for me setting back from buying their drives. Finally I read about this drive and found its very fast. Very few failure reports and despite of packaging issues nobody said the drives were broken.

I took my chances and ordered this drive. Amazon bubble-wrapped those drives very securely and then put them in individual card-board box. Those boxes were part of bigger enclosure and it was air-cushioned.

The packaging was secure and way better than what customers mentioned in their reviews. I guess Amazon picked it up and then fixed it! Thank you Amazon for listening to your customers!

Excellent HD but terrible packaging

First, my experience:
I must be very, very unlucky. I first bought two of them, one of which came with issues (lots of bad blocks). I contacted amazon and they promptly refunded me. As I needed a second HD for a raid0 setup I bought another one and it had also lots of bad blocks. I couldn't ask for a refund 'couse I thought it would sound suspicious (2 failing HDs in a row) provided that I don't even live in the USA. So I simply gave up, ending up with one working unit and two useless units. I also have to say that the packaging was really bad. The first two HDs came with a thousand other products of mine but with no extra protection(only bubble wrap).
So: Amazon Customer Support: 10
Samsung HD Performance: 10
Amazon Packaging: 0

Now, the HD itself is very good. When half full it sustains an average read speed of 150mb/s which is really good for it's price. A raid0 array would have been really nice.

Great drive, and great packaging

I was hesitant to order a pair of these drives, because I had read so many horror stories about packaging. But, the price was too good to pass up, so i pulled the trigger. Apparently, Amazon has listened to the past complaints. A large box arrived at my door. When I opened it, I found 2 smaller boxes inside, padded with air bags. Each box was marked with a Fragile Item sticker. Inside of each box was another set of airbags. The hard drive clamshells were wrapped with several layers of bubble wrap. The drives appeared to be very secure and well padded.

I've had the drives for 2 weeks now and have put them through their paces. One drive already has 750gb stored on it, and the other drive has 250gb. I was actually replacing several smaller drives, so I filled the first one up quickly. Performance is really very good. The drives are very quiet, and they don't appear to put off much heat. HDTach lists the average read speed as 120mb a second, and the burst speed is about 240mb a second. That's phenomenal performance for a mechanical drive at this price.

Ich habe ja schon vieles gehört, dass die Samsung Festplatten nicht lange ihren Dienst tun, dennnoch habe ich zugegriffen weil ich eine 1Tb brauchte.
Ich muss widererwartend nun das Gegenteil behaupten, da mich diese Festplatte seit ca einem Jahr ihren treuen Dienst erweißt OHNE jegliche Probleme.
Dazu gibt es eigentlich nur zu erwähnen dass meine Festplatte sehr gut gekühlt ist (Zalman Z11: links,rechts & front).
Ich arbeite mit dieser Festplatte hauptsächlich im Bereich der Medienverarbeitung(Musik, Videos[..]) und kann in diesen Sinne kein schlechtes Feedback geben, und meine vollen 5 Sterne vergeben!

Wurde als Ersatz für meine defekte Platte gekauft. Für mich als normaler PC Nutzer voll ausreichend.
Speicherplatz gibt es reichlich. Geräusche macht sie, es sind halt auch mechanische Komponenten in der HDD verbaut. Mich stört es nicht, da ist mein Lüfer lauter.
Wer es gern lautlos hat, muß wesentlich mehr investieren.
