Sawyer Says Kindle Edition

4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 295 ratings

Sawyer says…
Casual flings are the only way to go.
Everyone you trust eventually leaves.
Falling in love is for anyone, but her.
What else would she say when all she knows is loss and abandonment? Sawyer Sterling learned too young that depending on anyone else will get her nothing but heartache in the end. Never shying away from outwardly showing her love, she struggles accepting it herself. Stubbornly, she vows never to risk her heart.
Dealing with revelations she never saw coming, her impulse is to distance herself from emotional entanglements. When her past collides with her present, can Jared Keller help prove to her just how wrong her assumptions are? He is the exception to her argument that everyone leaves. Will she ever see him as something she deserves?

I gave this book 5 Stars.

Carey is one of the Authors that is my go to Author, when I feel down and need to read a GOOD book, I open one of her books and it makes me feel better. I will one click Carey without a doubt every time she has a new book! She is as sweet as she is a talented! If this tells you anything I own all her books in PB as well. You can't go wrong with her. And especially with this book. Yes she has done it again.

Sawyer is from the Series HIM, she is the best friend. This is a stand alone so you will be able to read it without worrying if you're missing something. But I will say that if you have not read the Series that you should, you will fall in love.

Sawyer is feisty and mouthy but on the inside she just need someone to show her love is real! Jared is that man.
Sawyer is a bad a$$ on the outside, you learn this in HIM. She says what she feels and she doesn't lie, sometimes it comes out a little brass and sometimes she gets in trouble with the things that she just blurts out. She is this way for a reason, when she was young her parents died in a car crash and she was taken in by a grandmother that didn't want her, only to turn around and give her away. Sawyer feels abandoned and alone, and when you feel that your defenses are up and you don't let anyone in. That is why she is the way she is, but there is an exception to everything and well Jared is that for her. He is her oldest friend, and when her room mate and best friend moves out to get married, she lets Jared move in, not realizing that she has feelings for him.
Jared is smart, he is sweet and loving and is attracted to Sawyer for longer then he can remember, he has known her almost his whole life. But he knows to tread carefully with her, otherwise she will run.
Being in love with Sawyer has its challenges, more than most, but if anyone can handle them it's Jared. He loves Sawyer unconditionally and is always there and always will be. He is patient with her and gives her the space she needs to think that she is in control.

This is a sweet, adorable, loving book and is on the top of my list for 2014. I needed to read this. I have been in a funk and was thinking that I was never going to get out of it. I have read book after book and although they have been good books, there was still something that kept my mind spinning and wanting to go on to the next book on my list. I got so into this book that I thought about nothing else. Thank you Carey for an amazing read! I cannot wait to read your next story!!! <3

Sawyer Sterling was orphaned as a child, brushed aside by her only remaining grandparent, and essentially raised in boarding school with the exception of the summers she spent with Jared Keller and his mom. Now adults, Sawyer and Jared have become roommates after hers moved away to get married, and Jared went through an emotional divorce.

Although friendship is all Sawyer claims to want, at her roommate’s wedding she hooks up with Jared. And who can blame her? Holy cow, Jared is hot, sweet, and extremely patient and understanding. As in if you look up ‘patience’ and ‘understanding’ in the dictionary you’ll find this boy’s picture there. He’s the gem of the book. Having grown up with her he knows what Sawyer needs and when she needs it. And he’s exactly what Sawyer needs because she has a few issues she has to work through.

As a result, Sawyer is a bit cold at times and totally pessimistic. Yes, I understand she’s been dealt some blows in life that caused her to put up walls and have some feelings of insecurity; but sometimes she makes some uncool moves that she seems to feel is okay or justified but hurt Jared and others who care about her. So there were places were I almost agreed that she wasn’t good enough for Jared. Again the guy is just swoon-worthy.

The story is just as much romance as it is a story of self discovery. Though told via Sawyer and Jared’s alternating first person point of views, it’s largely about Sawyer’s journey—to accept the past, uncover some family secrets, and move on so that she can learn to love and be loved. There’s a touch of mystery in regards to her grandmother which kept the story engaging, and plenty of sexy encounters with Jared which amplified the heat factor. And though they start hitting it right from the beginning, there is no insta-lust or insta-love here as their friendship is still core to their relationship.

I was a little disappointed that the story didn’t end with Jared getting the one thing that he seemed to long for and would definitely have been good at. Perhaps the epilogue just didn’t go far enough into the future, but I just felt that he did so much for her that he should have gotten a little “extra” as part of their happy ever after.

Sawyer Says is a spin-off novel from Him and Her (Sawyer's previous roommate Sarah and her husband Will's story) that can easily be read as a stand-alone as Sarah and Will just make minor appearances in this one.

So happy that Carey Heywood developed a story for Sawyer. After reading Him and Her, I just knew I was going to love this colorful character. And while we did get her in all her colorful playfulness and "tell it like it is" ways, we also got to see a very vulnerable Sawyer. There is always more to someone than what they allow us to see. And Sawyer did break down and allow herself to feel and see all the love that surrounded her. It was hard to see and it was hard to find, but the journey to get there was fun and difficult and yet so tragic. The emotions were a bit of a roller coaster toward the end, but it pieced together the way peoples actions were in the past. And that was needed in order to go on and have a future.
I honestly laughed ("That boy is the orgasm whisperer.") and cried ("Each day I forget. Each day my heart breaks when I learn it again. Each time feels like the first time.") and felt like I was there with Sawyer. I felt and understood her heart and connection to Jared. Jared is the man that we all want in our corner. There for you and supporting you no matter what. He is the rock, even when you feel like you need and want to do it on your own, he is there supporting you in ways that may not be obvious. Swoon!

A great story with a flow that was just right. Told in Sawyer's POV, with the short 1/2 chapters told in Jared's POV, we get to hear from both of them. I love a good story and it's always nice to hear from both the male and female's POV. Job well done, Carey and I look forward to reading more of your stuff since it's so well written and proceeds at just the right pace to feel for the characters and to understand them and their history and where the future may lie.

5.0 out of 5 stars ... read a couple of Carey's books now and have loved them all

****************************5 stars***********************

I have read a couple of Carey's books now and have loved them all. I had to asked though if I could ready Sawyer Says without reading others and Yes I could thank you Carey.

So in one day I devoured this book and loved every minute of it. Now I will warn you HAVE some tissues ready as you will be laughing tears and have your heart broken.

Sawyer says is a wonderful story.

Sawyer Sterling has had a rough start to life, now she never loves, she don't do relationships and trusts no one as they will just hurt you.

From the age of ten Sawyer has had nothing but heartache losing her parents is what started it all, sent to her grandmother, Sawyer learns abandonment, her grandmother doesn't want her and after just two days Sawyer is shipped off.

Throughout the years Sawyer has learnt to trust no one but herself, she has only a handful of friends who she does trust.

Jared is one of them.

Sawyer and Jared have been close friends for years. Now living together everything is fine until a wedding?

Can these two carry on just being friends or is there more.

Amazing story loved every bit of this book.

Plus a bonus there is no cliffhanger woohoo.

Ladies a definite must read Jared will have you swooning

I'm not a person that reads the same book over and over but Carey has changed that, I have read all her books numerous times and love them more each time. A truly wonderful author that you will put on your favourites list.

5.0 out of 5 stars Personally I loved it. You only really got glimpses of Sawyer ...

Feisty, but lovable Sawyer, who is an extremely independent and loyal friend to Sarah, finds herself in this book. Personally I loved it. You only really got glimpses of Sawyer in Him, Her and Them, but you knew she was a good, giving person, but very closed off. This book reveals why. She had a much more complicated life than I expected, but I was so pleased that she finally found out the truth, and it was nothing like she presumed. Will definitely recommend.

After finishing Him and Her I couldn't wait to read Sawyer's story. Jared was a big softy and never left Sawyer's side even though she would push him away. It was good to find out what was behind her grandmother's reasons for sending Sawyer away and not keeping her herself. The epilogue was beautiful and tapped off a terrific story.

I have so enjoyed the whole series as I had never read anything of this author before. It is funny, sad, and just lovely the only problem for me is I cannot put them down but am not going to feel guilty as they are so good.
