“You are meant to succeed in the work you love. Your desire will take you all the way.” — Tama J. Kieves

What if everything you thought you needed to do to succeed was actually standing in the way of your success?

Tama Kieves, Harvard-lawyer-turned-career-coach, has spent the last decade crossing the United States and Canada, speaking to tens of thousands of people and sharing her inspiring story of moving from a career that was killing her to a life that has uplifted her, chronicled in her first book, This Time I Dance!: Creating the Work You Love. She has mentored thousands of people who, with her help, have followed their passion, and now live their dream lives.

And now she takes us to the next step in our journey…

Within you is your purpose—your destiny—that will lead you to your greatest fulfillment, and your greatest success. What Kieves discovered in her own journey is that the way to success is an inspired path, not a linear one. She brings her mentoring ideas and actions together in her latest work, Inspired and Unstoppable. In this motivating book, Kieves teaches that it is only in unleashing this purpose that you can become truly happy and satisfied.

Through these teachings, she will help you move into your “brilliant power.” She shares the mental and emotional impact of this journey—the fears, doubts, and boogeymen that arise—and how to become an unstoppable warrior for your life’s work and desires. This book will help you stay connected to your desires and shift your innermost thinking. When you do, inspired actions will seem to fall directly out of the sky, and onto your plate. You will naturally outpace anything any expert could ever tell you. You don’t need the steps, when you have the moves.

Beautifully written, Inspired & Unstoppable also includes success stories from Tama’s life and the lives of others who have made their dreams their reality, as well as practices that will create positive momentum, and “Inspired Successisms”—delightful, quick bites of wisdom peppered throughout the book. It also includes guidelines on how to create your own “Inspired Success Circle”—a way of moving forward with the support of friends and loved ones.

Practical, empowering, inspirational, galvanizing—Inspired & Unstoppable is the touchstone to (finally) living your wildest dreams and greatest desires.

2013 Nautilus Books for a Better World Silver winner as Best Inner Prosperity / Right Livelihood Book

“Wild success is a function of deliberate, alive choices. Through her own walk through doubts and struggles, Tama Kieves shows you how to stay ‘inspired and unstoppable’ in every circumstance you confront in business, living your vision, and life. If you want to stay on fire as you do your greatest work in the world, read this book now.”  —
Jack Canfield, bestselling coauthor of Chicken Soup for the Soul and The Success Principles

"Finally, success tips that work. Success principles litter the self-help sections of bookstores and fill up podcasts and magazine articles. But I haven’t read something quite so refreshing as Tama Kieves’s new book, Inspired & Unstoppable: Wildly Succeeding in Your Life’s Work! in a long time."--Victoria Pynchon,  Forbes.com

“A revelatory book that brilliantly applies inspiration, practicality, and humor to identifying and living your highest potential. You won’t be able to stop reading this invaluable guide to inner and outer success in your creative expression.” —
Michael Bernard Beckwith, author of Spiritual Liberation: Fulfilling Your Soul’s Potential

“This book is like having your own wonderful success coach. Inspired & Unstoppable will show you how to stay true to your personal and professional vision—no matter what—and get you where you dream to be. This is a soulful and practical book, full of encouragement and guidance that will save you years of time and pain. You’re going to want to read this often.” — Marci Shimoff, New York Times–bestselling author of Happy for No Reason and Love for No Reason

“When you’ve got a burning mission inside you, you need to know how to stay inspired and on track. Tama Kieves shows you how to become a success warrior for your life’s work. Life is short. The world needs your voice. Read this wonderful book.” —Kris Carr, New York Times–bestselling author and wellness warrior

“Tama Kieves is one of the soul-tenders, a savvy and companionable guide to honoring what she calls the gravitational pull of passion and integrity within each of us, and the power of saying Yes! to our lives. In her compelling new book, she brings great honesty and compassion to the hard human work of bringing our callings to life, and a vigorous torch to help illuminate the journey.” —Gregg Levoy, author of Callings: Finding and Following an Authentic Life

“The words ‘inspired and unstoppable’ are far more than the title of this book; they are literally how you will feel as you are reading it. Tama Kieves is a brilliant teacher. The depth of her knowledge and wisdom is equaled only by her authenticity, humor, and candor. You will find yourself lifted, motivated, and cared for by her words. If you are seeking a deeper understanding of your life’s purpose and how to actualize it, consider this book your road map.” —Dennis Merritt Jones, author of The Art of Uncertainty

Top reviews from the United States

Reviewed in the United States on September 11, 2012
I read  Inspired & Unstoppable: Wildly Succeeding in Your Life's Work! e a few days ago and was going to write a review for Amazon right then. But first I read the reviews already posted, and I was particularly struck by the sole negative review (at the time) that said: This entire 317 page book can be boiled down to one sentence on page 282, "You are meant to succeed in the work you love."

Yes, the person who said that is correct. The book is tightly focused on a single theme. In fact, from time to time I'd check which chapter I was on because the book was so much of a single piece.

But I've decided to go ahead and award the book five stars anyway and to explain why right here.

Tama is addressing artists (all arts, not just visual arts), personal coaches, self-employed service providers and entrepreneurs, and you have to understand the context in which she writes. Out in the marketplace, the experts addressing this audience are highly prescriptive in their recommendations. Most experts offer their advice in the form of a very structured "signature program," often consisting of multiple formats (e.g., ebooks, MP3s, videos, workbooks) and sometimes supplemented with master-mind groups, one-on-one coaching and even live events.

In other word, darn pricey packages.

People invest in these. And yes, the industry calls it "investing" rather than "buying" because of the considerable expense.

The investors start on the program with good intentions but find they can't stay on schedule. Their Visa payment kicks in every month regardless.

The reasons for failure vary. Some people get ill or have family emergencies or get too many paying assignments or simply change their mind.

But the sad reason for most "failures" is that the prescribed pace doesn't work in real life. In the first or second lesson you have to define a niche that meets the expert's criteria but also feels right for you. You are determined to do it, hoping that a fresh pot of strong coffee and hunching over the computer till 3 am will be the answer, but it isn't. At that point, investors lag behind the curriculum and they never catch up.

The expert herself took years to identify her current niche. In fact, that is her selling point, that she is saving you from her missteps.

However, her "missteps" were a valid part of her gestational process. I believe you can't complete an entire signature program on schedule unless you have most of the elements in place before you start.

After you have (or don't have) your niche, the race is on. You must start a list on AWeber or equivalent. Then you must have a free report to entice people to the list. You need a newsletter. A blog. An elevator speech. Instant affiliations with people you don't know, like or trust. An active Twitter account. (Wait! Maybe not. That assumes the signature package has been updated in the last few years.) If you finish all this and more, you may actually accomplish by program end the successes reported in the sales testimonials.

These pressures are what Tama is reacting against, I believe. Instead, Tama has chosen a very positive, non-catty approach to her topic. She details her personal journey without dwelling on the specifics of demoralizing advice along the way. This gives the book an inspirational feel that fully supports the theme on page 282.

Tama presents herself as a friend who is a little further down the road than the rest of us rather than as the big-time expert, and I find this totally refreshing. For instance, she has writing exercises for each chapter but they're all relegated to the back of the book. Do them or don't do them, it's up to you, she says. Many self-help authors demand that you write out your life story, complete with successes and failures, before you earn admittance to chapter 2. I don't write out all this stuff and I would NEVER write it before skimming the whole book, would you?

Another aspect I love about the book is Tama's writing style. She is the best writer of contemporary self-help I have ever read. Tama's writing is absolutely stunning, with descriptive phrases and down-to-earth examples juxtaposed in a single paragraph or even sentence.

I am adding Inspired & Unstoppable to my bookcase with pleasure. I plan to take it down and read a section at random when I'm discouraged or confused. It's like the Psalms: comforting but you don't start with #1 and read straight through to #150.

In closing, this is a great book if you need what it provides. But if you're going to read only one book by Tama, I suggest starting with her first book,
This Time I Dance!: Creating the Work You Love  That's where she introduces her story on resigning from a prestige law career to find herself as a writer and personal coach.

I have been following Tama ever since I attended a small session that has her as a guest speaker. This is about 5 or 6 years ago. The session included about 25-30 women of all ages and professional backgrounds aspired to start their own businesses. I liked Tama's story, her energy, and her authenticity. From then on I subscribed to her eNewsletter, bought her first book "This Time I Dance" and her CD. I was inspired by her first book. I was a bit hesitant to buy this second book because I was worried it could be a revised version of the first one. But I am happy to say, it was not and excited to report it is more inspiring than the first one. The first book was about her struggle to find her passion and going after it inspite of her attachment to what her family, friends and logical mind was telling her. In this second book, I read about her experience on making it by experiencing "being" and not "doing". Being is when you follow where the energy in your mind and heart is, "doing" is when you follow what others tell you is the "secret" of success based on what others have done, even when to you it does not feel right at the time. She shares many examples from her clients and herself as a client of other coaches or gurus. She shares the emotional struggle in trying to listen to all voices, internal/external, of what one should/should not do to grow her business/markets. She talks about coming to know that success is not measured by money but by how far one has gone in following their passion. She tells us, that is hard when you live in a world that judges you by your material gains rather than freedom from being slave to others agenda (working for others) and happy spirit. It is written as if I as an aspiring entrepreneur was writing it. It hit my heart and soul! It is not a book that tells you if you do these three or 10 steps you get what you want! It helps you understand why you feel/think the way you feel/think, how she had gotten around those feelings/thoughts, do what you feel is right for you (but it is okay to experiment with others ideas), this is your life and your passion, and just because your ideas or way of doing things is different from everyone else, it does not mean you are crazy...Trust yourself! Starting is a positive step. It is not for everyone, as we all are at different stages of our journey and different mindset. I happen to have overcome my analytical and logical mindset, it took time but I believe in her approach of following a spiritual path and not necessary a linear path. As I said earlier, she is authentic about her own story and that is how I think her book is more helpful to me than other books I have read. The book is easy to read, short chapters and a one page key points at the end of each chapter. I plan to re-read it again and again to stay inspired.

Tama's raw honesty in this book is exhilarating. She encourages the reader to pursue their dreams with reassurance that it is possible! What I enjoyed most was that she shed some light on what to do in dark areas of your career. As an aspiring entrepreneur, it is a peace of mind to know what on your journey there will be bumps but they can be overcome be staying inspired. I am so sad for the book to end. This will definitely be a multiple re-read.
