As usual, you don't need to worry about painting the mobile suit itself unless you really want to, as it looks fantastic as is. However, the weapons, especially the heat hawk, are all molded in a base black plastic(with some clear parts for the machine gun and bazooka) which more hardcore builders will want to take the time to add details to.
As mentioned the detail on this kit is amazing, but that also might make it a bit more of a pain for someone taking a first crack at a master grade. The external power cables especally can be frustrating (though less so than some other kits that feature them).
A few nagging critiques; the pipes are the hardest part of this kit, and it's the part that cut me up. Due to how the pipes go on rubber bends, with cylinders that are supposed to slide on, they are firmly on the bit they come off from, requiring some fight to get the pieces off and onto the right piece of rubber. Care to not chip a fingernail or get any cuts, like I did. The fingers are also very loose in their articulation, they don't always hold their shape unless it's a clenched fist or splayed open. Anything else has limited mileage; unfortunate, but not a complete dealbreaker. I also highly recommend buying a tweezer kit for this. Others who have bought and built Master Grade kits probably already know this, but for a first timer, the amount of tiny stickers that require precision sticking is overwhelming without tools. Get a nice pair of narrow tweezers so you can set things down precisely on the model.
Other than that, quality stuff, can recommend to anyone fond of our fellow monoeyes!
AS much as I (and others) have gushed about this kit, there are two (extremely) minor complaints. There's a really tricky nub mark on the head, right above the mono-eye, so you'll have to be extra careful on it. There's other bad nubs on the hands and feet, but no other nub marks. My second complaint is the piping on the head, torso, and legs. nobody warned me about how painful that would be. Yes, it looks great, but sliding the plastic (joints? cylinders?) off the rubber is INSANELY painful on your fingernails. i suggest cutting the rubber off and pushing it out with your hobbyu knife before sliding it on the rubber part that plugs into the kit.
I have yet to start customising it, but even if you are a straight builder, the kit you get at the end will be more than satisfactory for your efforts.
The only complaint I have is that the tubing can be a little hard to get off the runner. BUT that's only because I have no nails. If you are able to pull them easier than I did, then even better for you.
5 stars for sure
