ROCK BOTTOM (Tristan & Danika Book 2) Kindle Edition
BOOK TWO: TRISTAN & DANIKA
Their love had the power of a runaway freight train, and the potential to be just as destructive. The tempestuous sequel to Bad Things picks up where the first book left off. Reeling from a profound loss, Tristan and Danika struggle to pick up the pieces and build a life together, but the hard habits of a lifetime are not so easy to escape. Rock Bottom takes us on a dual point of view journey through addiction and desire, through love and agony, and answers the question we’ve been asking since these characters were introduced in Grounded: “What happened between Tristan and Danika?”
DANIKA Even love couldn’t cushion a fall like ours. My love for Tristan was so big that I felt consumed by it, and even so, it was not enough to overpower our combined demons. I struggled. I yelled and screamed. I scratched and kicked. I fought like hell, but even the most determined fighters have to stop before they break. No one could say I didn’t fight for him. “I love you,” I spoke softly into his ear. He gripped me harder. “I can’t ever lose you, Danika. I’m not sure I’d survive it.” “You’ve got me. And I’m not going anywhere. Not ever.” I meant the words when I said them, but life had other plans for us. I’d have given my life for that fight. In fact, I very nearly did.
TRISTAN She was the one. If I’d ever had a doubt, I didn’t now. She was the one I’d be thinking about, longing for, until I took my last breath. If I lost her tomorrow, I’d pine for her like a lovesick fool. This was the kind of love that only hit you once in your life. This book is intended for readers 18 and up.

"Rock Bottom" by R.K. Lilley is the 2nd book in the Tristan and Danika series. Stop now if you have not read, "Bad Things", which is book one. This review may get a bit spoilerish and I dont want to ruin the experience that is Tristan and Danika. From this book, you truly understand why they are at odds when first introduced in "Grounded" also by Lilley. "Rock Bottom" picks up after the death of Tristan's brother. Danika and Tristan, in different ways, are grieving over his death and trying to move on. Danika is slowly coming to terms and Tristan is slowly coming apart as the seams. After a record exec takes a big interest in his band and signs them to a recording contract and promotional tour. The bond that is Tristan & Danika slowly starts to crack..leading them both to heartache, loss, despair and ultimately, rock bottom.
God, this book literally broke my heart in two. The thing about their story is that the 1st half basically was full of a mixed happiness. They had their good times and they had their bad times. And boy when they had their bad times, it was a freaking doozy. You were always feeling that it was the calm before a big and powerful storm. That at any moment the bottom was sure about to fall out. The angst in this book was at an all time high. And I just love that. I said before, angst don't always work for a character couple, but for these two it was so damn good. I know my heart was thumping a few times in this book. The things that I would have never guess in a million years happened in this book. And honestly I can understand why Danika treats Tristan like he's a cancer.
The one thing about Danika and that I love about her is that she is a ride or die chick. She is woman who stands by her man. She was very much in love with Tristan and supported him through so much. But at what point do you say enough is enough? She was questioning herself many times throughout this book. I felt so bad for what Danika had to endure. My head is still reeling from it. I just want to freaking hug her.
Tristan..Tristan. Is it ok to say that I kinda wasn't feeling him in this book? After the 1st book I swear he had me swooning and putting him 1st on my book boyfriend list. Now, I want to punch his damn face in. I'm sorry, but he did Danika so wrong in this book. And yes not only was he grieving his bother's death but someone else's which you will read about in the book, I just felt at every turn he just wasn't there for her. Tristan needed to be shaken a few times. He was losing a good woman and it took him forever to realize that. You can't stay Danika wasn't there for him. She tried so many times to change him and the path he was leading. Up until the sad and bitter end.
This book had it all: amazing sex, angst, funny moments, sad and great character build up. Told from dual POVs of Danika and Tristan this book was a GREAT follow up. You even got a POV from Frankie. Read the series please so you know who I'm talking about. Love Frankie to pieces. Out of 5 I'm giving this book 100 stars. I know 100 is not out of 5. But its my review I can do what I want. Just a fair warning prepare your heart. Once that fall starts, you are in for a ride of your life. Book 3 should be out in Early 2014. All of us that have read this book are all saying the same thing, "Early 2014 better mean January!
R.k. Lilley has perfected her craft with not only writing a fantastic story, but you absolutely connect with the characters so much, that you have a hard time letting them go. After reading Rock Bottom, I was left hanging a few months waiting for Lovely Trigger. The pain I felt for Danika left me in such a funk for over a week because this brought up some old memories for me personally that I wasn't prepared for. This story has now become my #1 trilogy and I will never forget Tristan & Danika's story and the unbelievable ride it took me on.
It is no secret that R.k. Lilley is my #1 favorite author. She is the first author I ever met after her UITA series, which was my favorite trilogy, but her writing is on a whole other level. You will absolutely fall madly in love with her characters and make you wish you had them as friends. You are so emotionally invested in her stories that it's hard to go back to real life. Her writing style includes the most enticing & funny witty dialogue between her characters, that you will laugh out loud, and let's not forget the scorching hot sex scenes. They are so hot and beyond one's normal imagination that you will be blown away. Make sure to wear your "Sham-Wow" underwear when reading any R.k. Lilley book.
Unbelievable!!
Rock Bottom picks up where Bad Things ended. Tristan and Danika are trying to move on with their lives after the tragic loss of Tristan’s brother. They are crazy, madly, insanely in love with one another, but they are flawed and damaged characters with issues that go skin deep. Tristan’s band is moving to LA to record their first album and Danika has stayed in Las Vegas to attend school, dance, and stay on as her friend’s nanny. Tristan and Danika are living separate lives but miss each other like crazy. But they do get to see each other and, when they are together, they are inseparable. Still, the distance is taking an emotional toll on their relationship. Tristan’s band is beginning to rise to the top of stardom and Danika supports Tristan every step of the way, even though it’s hard on her. She’s afraid she might lose him if she doesn’t hold on to him tightly. As the story continues, their relationship is put through the wringer - and tested repeatedly - when drugs, alcohol, groupies, grief, distance, betrayal, and tragedy continues to get in the way of their happiness. Will they be able to persevere through it all? Will their powerful, all-consuming love be enough to save them?
Oh, Tristan… How I love thee. He’s one of my favorite tortured, possessive, wild, hard, utterly sexy, insatiable, and intense Alpha heroes. He loves Danika fiercely and would do anything, anything for her. But life has dealt him a bad hand when he lost his brother and the blows kept on coming. Slowly things get worse with Tristan as he continues down a dark path where he is drowning in his sorrow and guilt. He doesn’t know how to deal with his issues. With his savior complex, he wants to save and protect the ones he loves but, at the same time, he’s lost – so incredibly, undeniably lost, and can’t seem to save himself.
Danika loves Tristan immensely, but loving Tristan is not easy – and maybe she loves him too much. She has a hard time saying no to him, which enables Tristan when he begins to go down a destructive path. When he starts to change, she would forgive him time and again. Danika fears she would push him too far and feared of losing him. And honestly, I understood why she felt helpless to the point she didn’t know what to do. If someone doesn’t want your help, then there isn’t anything you can do. Danika is not without her own flaws and insecurities, but she does relentlessly try to make things work between them.
I’m addicted to messy, complicated relationships with imperfect love and deeply flawed characters, which is why I’m drawn to Tristan and Danika’s story. While I thought Bad Things was a whirlwind of crazy, it's mild compared to the emotional turmoil Rock Bottom put me through. This book shattered my heart. What Tristan and Danika experience was painful, sad… punishing. It was like watching a train wreck careening out control… in slow motion. The devastating mess that became Tristan and Danika in the aftermath left me feeling raw – which brings up the question: Does this book end in a cliffhanger? Sort of. You will be reeling from the series of events that happen to them. All of their bad choices finally catch up to them. Their lives will never be the same. But, before you stop reading on the final page, there is a little teaser for book 3, Lovely Trigger, which might console your broken heart. It also made me want the last book even more!
Though this book is painfully heartbreaking and soul-shattering, we still get to see Tristan and Danika happy as a couple. When they are good together, they are awesome. And the chemistry between them is loaded with frenzied passion, desire, and love. The sexy times are explosive and there are tons of them. TONS. I love how they can’t keep their hands off each other – they’re insatiable.
"I love you," he rasped out. He said it all the time. He didn't hold it back, now that he'd admitted it, but it still gave me butterflies, every single time.
"I love you," I spoke softly into his ear."
He gripped me harder. "I can't ever lose you, Danika. I'm not sure I'd survive it."
Tristan and Danika are one of my utmost favorite passionate, dysfunctional couples. I love how R.K. Lilley doesn’t pull any punches with them. There is nothing fluffy and light about their story. It’s dark and gritty. Miz Lilley took a couple that is madly in love with a future together and then broke them down, until they were stripped bare and broken. Rock Bottom left me with a bleeding heart with all the crazy highs and lows, intense drama, shocking twists, and raw emotions. So, even though I said I loved and hated this book at the same, I genuinely loved it when it’s all said and done.

Rock Bottom started where Bad Things left off. I like that it flipped back and forth from Tristan's POV to Danika's and that we could get inside both of their heads. Their relationship was volatile and explosive. I loved Danika's feistiness and her strong personality. I loved his attitude and possessiveness and their kinkiness. I JUST LOVED THEM BOTH!!! They needed each other .... they fought for for their love....but life just kept throwing obstacles their way until they could take no more.
I need to go cry now and count the days until Tristan and Danika come back!
This was a beautiful story of love, with a whole lot of heartache thrown in. Danika and Tristan such a passionate couple, enjoying life and each others company. But there was too much interference on the periphery of their lives, he was still mourning the death of his little brother Jared, Danika has such a big heart, for such a petite girl! She was the glue that kept them together, but every time she was knocked down, she squared her shoulders and got on with the life they had.
I loved the part where I thought was the turning point where they were going to get their happily ever after, then you threw a curve ball right in and we got back on the roller coaster that was Tristan and Danika.
Oh how I detested Dean, if ever someone got what was coming to them, he certainly did, thank goodness my stomach was in knots with what he was describing wheat he was going to do n the desert.
Poor Danika, she has been through so much in her short life and when her sister showed up pregnant I am ashamed to say I thought the worse about Tristan, when Dahlia finally revealed who the daddy was, I offered a silent apology to Tristan.
She made the right choice and after reading the part at James wedding, I was / am hoping with a big smile on my face!
This book gave me such a myriad of emotions, which was really hard to put down! Loved the sass is Danika and the sweet side of Tristan, I have my fingers crossed for their HEA!
