Editorial Reviews

From the Author

As a younger professional, I tended to define my contentment based on my career trajectory and financial status. As I got older and life's lessons mounted, I learned that hanging my happiness on my job and wealth was only part of the equation. Sure, having a good job and money are great things to want, but there's just so much more to life than what you do and how much you have. The bruises I received from my experiences put me on a journey to better understand the key drivers which help define happiness. My list settled on nine crucial elements that I believe contribute in some way to a person's overall contentment. What I also learned, though, is that the importance of the crucial elements may change as one gets older and his or her life events change. As example, one of the crucial elements discussed in the book is legacy contentment. A person in his or her 20's is most likely not concerned with the legacy he or she is leaving behind, whereas someone older than 50 might be much more concerned about his or her legacy. The important point is that a person needs to examine each of the contentment elements, decide how important each element is in his or her life, understand what contentment looks like for each element, and define deliberate actions to achieve contentment. This isn't a "one and done" activity. Ideally, it should be repeated as part of a personal annual goal setting process. This regular review and revision rhythm creates the foundation for good-enough contentment.

My true hope is that my readers will enjoy the story and take away at least one nugget which helps them create a path to good-enough contentment.

Best -
Lonnie

This book is a great reminder on what’s important. I can be hard on myself about where I am in life and sometimes I feel like I’m not “far enough”. This book not only helped me go easier on myself, it also gives you a guideline on how to prioritize what is important, person by person. I love that it isn’t a “one size fits all” guide. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is feeling a little lost.
