  • Milk Guidelines: Milk should be as fresh and cold as possible. Cow's milk works best. Alternative milks can be attempted, but there is no guarantee that they will yield results
  • Milk that has been frozen will not froth. Rinse with warm/hot water
  • As the jug is waterproof and not dishwasher safe, clean it by placing it under running water and use a non-abrasive cloth or scourer. Make sure the underside of the milk frother jug is completely dry before positioning it back on the base of the device.

I previously used a handheld, battery operated frother for my morning cappuccino. I would obviously have to heat the creamer in the microwave first.This one touch frother is the best! I push the bottom near the end of my coffee brewing and both are fresh, ready at the same time.I haven't used the cold froth yet.Worth every dollar!! I love it!

Bought to replace my cheaper version as frother part had fallen into the waste disposal and it didn’t turn on consistently anyway, had to press button numerous times. I really wanted to not like this one so I could return it and feel confident in my future decision to buy a cheap one but it is just toooooo gooood. It feels expensive. The lid goes on expensively.the whisk part feels expensive. It froths the milk quickly, it heats the milk nice and hot and the froth is so silky I can make a coffee better than any store bought one. It is also much easier to clean. Dont know why but it is. Will absolutely not be returning it. Now very annoyed at myself for buying a cheap one last time and wasting 3 years without this in my life. It really is worth the money and deserving of 5 stars. Run don’t walk people.

I see a lot of reviews talking about poor instructions, lack of heat, and lack of froth. The instructions do attempt to use a very few number if pictures to work with a large number of different languages. That would be a problem if this unit wasn't stupid-simple to use and care for... which it is. There are two functions, and zero moving parts in the core unit. (The whisk moves, but is attached magnetically.) If you want hotter milk and more froth, use less milk. There are markings on the inside, but when heating and frothing, you should always be able to see the top bead of the frother above the liquid level. Any higher, and air can't be incorporated. Also, it's a timed cycle, so more liquid means the less heat. It's physics. That does lead me to my biggest complaint: this unit is useful for only a very small volume. For the (normal sized) coffee cup I use (and the volume I desire), I have to go through the whole process twice. Honestly, that's not asking much, but I am lazy. I have two of these -- one for home, one for work -- and they both work great, even after hundreds of uses over more than a year (don't remember when I got the first one).

Cleaning is ridiculously simple: pull the whisk out, rinse and clean with dish soap, do the same with the inside and lid. Don't use any abrasives (VERY important for the inside unit -- the bearing surface for the whisk is the non-stick coating of the nub, and you effectively destroy the "motor" if this surface is damaged in any way. Also, there are electronics inside that run off of full household AC power. Try not to get the unit any wetter than it needs to be. That is, don't hold the outside (or underside) of the main unit under running water, don't dunk it in water, and definitely don't let it soak in water. Wash the inside (where the milk goes), and if the outside (a.k.a. the part that doesn't ever touch your food) is dirty, then gently wipe it off with no more than a damp towel. This is what the pictures in the instructions are trying to tell you. The whisk should be inspected to ensure that there's no residue on the bottom or inside where the nub goes in. Any foreign material here will affect how the thing spins. Take care of this thing and it will last forever.

For anyone that can't figure out the no-hear froth, just hold the power button in until the unit comes on (as opposed to praying and immediately releasing). If the blue light came on, you did it right. Red light means it is heating. That's it. There's no heat setting other than on or off. There's no speed setting, no time setting. Just pour in your milk, hit the button, pour into your coffee, repeat, then clean.

Compared to two other, cheaper brands of milk brother I tried, this one has lasted the longest. However it's stopped frothing milk after 8 months. Just heats up the milk with some bubbles on surface but no more foam. I don't know what I've done wrong -- I always cleaned the inside gently with either a bottle brush or sponge (I found that if you don't clean off the milk film immediately, it won't froth). The beater gizmo still spins but the milk no longer froths. Very disappointing. It was very good while it lasted though!

Follow up: I tried a couple of solutions mentioned in these reviews under the heading of “stopped frothing.” Soaking the spinner whisk in white vinegar overnight did not work (for me). Then I called Nespresso customer service and they were very helpful. First they had me create an account with Nespresso and then an hour later after it had registered, I called them again and a troubleshooter helped me try to figure out what was wrong. Twice I filled the frother with ice cold water — apparently chilling the unit helps reset it sometimes — then ran the hot froth mode. Then they told me to put in fresh cold, whole milk (which I always use, as recommended) and run the hot frother but unfortunately it still didn’t work. Since it’s still under warranty, they are replacing it. I was very impressed with the customer service.
