Alainn, runaway healer from the powerful O’Brien Clan, cannot keep from thinking of the love she has with the nephew of the chieftain, a vicious revengeful man. Killian won’t give up on her. His determination to keep her safe may be their undoing.
Alainn has her secrets which she feels she must keep to protect Killian. Her power is strong but uncontrolled at times. Can she keep Killian safe, her life and her powers as well? This is the second in the series. The author brings us the history of Ireland and the rough country, the politics and the mystical ways in this story with a strong young woman who must fight the ways of the times.

This was a very captivating story. Alainn and Killian are reunited, but there is much standing in the way of their love. His uncle is determined to keep them apart. The level of drama and excitement in this story was very high. I couldn't wait to get to the end, and at the same time I didn't want it to end. The story still isn't over, and it ended in a very hopeful place. I'm looking forward to the final installment in this series.

The first book in this series caught me up in the tale of The Farrier's Daughter. This second book had me in tears several times. And I am not usually prone to tears. I can only say that the story pulled me so deeply into it I became part of the book in the reading. Many thanks to the author.

Many fantasy novels spend too much time talking about what I think of as the physics (or science) of magic. Ms. Edwards tells the story, and she reveals to the reader what the heroine discovers. Alainn thinks for herself and discovers her destiny - but still determines that her destiny is her own.

I highly recommend this series, and I am looking forward to reading The Chieftain's Daughter.

this is Alainn McCreary and Killian O’Brien’s story.
“Aye, ’tis true, you’ve told me,” he protested with ever-thinning lips, “but I cannot in good conscience leave you here alone in this city. I have promised Killian I will watch over you in his stead, and I intend to keep my word on that count. I am here to protect you!”
Killian O’Brien, a man who is far above her station and betrothed to a noble, dark-eyed Scottish beauty.
Will Chieftain O’Brien keep their secret from Killian or use it to control her? read this book to find out.
The Witch’s Daughter by Leigh Ann Edwards is a 3 star Book.

The book is indeed well written and very interesting. I must once more say, as I did upon finishing book one . What I do not like is the ending. I found it incomplete. I am not happy to find out book three will not be available until late 2016 !! Reader beware.
By that time my interest will be gone.

This is a really good book that I highly recommend! The characters are interesting and it easily kept my interest. My only complaint is that I wish it was longer! I would think the story was going in one direction and then it would end up somewhere else. Very entertaining.

Reminiscent of the Mists of Avalon. Writing is superb and the characters are well developed and relatable. Irish legends and string female witches fighting the battles of good versus evil. Epic love story set in old Ireland during the time of King Henry VII. Recommended for anyone who loves paranormal romance and adventure.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a rush

After reading the first book when that finished I had to get the second, now I have to get the 3rd. I love them. Reading Killian and Alianna's story is fantastic. The love that grows for each other and the lengths they will go to to be together even when the odds are so much against them. I cannot wait for the next book in the series. I have been made to feel like I am right there and I know them very well. I love most of the characters and want them all to be happy and in love and I hate others and wish they get what's due to them. You do need to read these in order to understand the chemistry and what has happened from the begining. Hopfully you will enjoy them as much as I have.

Although I'm not a prude I like the fact that the author doesn't describe the sexual encounters crudely like a lot of other authors do. It leaves you with the sense that it is a love story rather than just dirty sex.
