From USA Today bestselling author K Webster comes a gripping new adult, bully romance standalone!

It was a joke that got out of hand. A silly attempt to catfish the weird girl. I wasn’t supposed to actually like her. And I certainly never meant to hurt her.

Yet, that’s exactly what I did.

I destroyed Raven Murray’s heart, and ultimately her life.

Now I’m paying for my part in her demise. Jail time. Restitution. Guilt. I’m no longer the happy, popular girl who had everything.

I have nothing and it’s absolutely what I deserve.

Her brother, Rome, thinks I deserve less than nothing. He wants me to hurt. To feel the same pain she felt. For me to drown in my own tears.

He’ll stop at nothing to get his justice.

His obsession with tearing me down consumes him. I become his single focus.

Somewhere along the way, the line between love and hate disappears.

I can’t fall for the guy whose sister I killed, because he’ll never be able to love me back. But my heart says I already have...

This book ended up being so much more then I thought it would be. It took a subject that many don’t see as serious or hurtful and made it meaningful, relevant, and poignant. A job well done and I recommend reading till the end.

Another ten star book from this wonderfully talented author K Webster. Emotional and in places dark, you feel yourself getting lost in the words of this story of Courtney, Raven and Rome. The writing as always is amazing, the characters so well developed you find yourself connected to them almost instantly - liking some of them may be another matter, but through a tragedy a story is born.

They all have secrets and are dealing with problems in their lives that effect each other in different ways, my favourite character is Rome, I loved to hate this boy but he crept under my skin and I fell in love. A damaged soul with the weight of the world on his shoulders. Raven was a suprise - she wears her mask well and had me fooled - an amazing character to get to know. Courtney - a sheep in wolves clothing ? Their stories are all interwoven with some suprising twists along the way that I never would have guessed.

This story has it all; twist and turns and angst galore, emotions running high, it will pull at your heart strings more than once and have you second guessing until the end, but what a book !! K Webster continues to delight and enthrall me with her versatile and imaginative mind and her storytelling always keeps you on your toes. Not to be missed !!!

Told in three parts, The Day She Cried is the story of how hate and ignorance changed the lives of Rome and Courtney forever. It's about how one girl suffered in silence and yet her presence, or lack of one, resonated with everyone. It was about seeing beyond the mask that covers and shields, discovering hidden truths. It was the tale of how one girl smiled every day, hiding her utter devastation and the holes in her heart.

While I tried to fall in love with this story, I found it to be a bit disjointed and dysfunctional. It seemed that Courtney loved being bullied. She kept allowing herself to be subjected to abuses in her attempts to be liked. And rather than be true to herself or stand up for herself or even really like herself, she continued to be herded in directions that were obviously nowhere she wanted to be. I wanted to feel bad for her, but I had to hold back my contempt. I wanted to sympathize, but all I could do was stay baffled. I get that she's young. I get that this is the typical experience of far too many young people today. But where was her mom in all of this? Other than a few remarks that showed evidence that her mom cared about her and defended her, I didn't see anything that told me of her mom teaching her some self-respect. Insecure and insignificant pretty much sums up what I thought of Courtney. And Rome? He was a broken boy set on terrorizing the terrorized. Even after coming to his senses, he still acted out in ways that were hurtful and hateful. I wanted someone to talk to these kids because the dysfunction and drama was insane!

I think K Webster did an incredible job of capturing how singular traumatic events can not only shape us, but how they can affect those around us. The way she illustrated the hurt these characters felt was painful to read but I did end up enjoying it. I just didn't love how these characters were portrayed. I'm a huge fan of this author and I look forward to diving into even more of her books!

5 amazing stars

I never know what i'll get when i pick up a book by K Webster and that's what makes her stories so captivating. One moment you could be reading a beautiful romance, the next something so taboo that you're questioning your own sanity and the next you could be reading something so descriptive that even your stomach rolls. The Day She Cried... wow. It was something so... powerful that i'm still having troubles putting into words how it touched me and made me feel.

4 breath taking dreams

Nothing in this book was like i expected and i loved it for that. I don't think there was any way i could have guessed the many twists that happened all throughout this book. While it wasn't the ugly cry book i think i expected, it's the kind of story that makes you think about what's important in your life and that sometimes things happen for a reason. To say that i'm really excited to find out what K Webster has to offer is an understatement and i can't wait for her next release!

I grabby handed at the chance to accept an ARC and here is my honest review. Gimme all the K Webster books!

*Spoiler FREE*

This book knocked me down and had me reaching for the tissues. It wrenched and pulled all my heartstrings and I could really FEEL the characters. Courtney, Raven and Rome. A love story with a darker and more painful edge. It was so beautiful to read in spite of the theme and it just goes to show that even in the bleakest times beauty and love can still be found.

Courtney, the wolf in sheep's clothing. Raven, the girl in the mask, and Rome, the battered soul.

As hard as it is to admit I probably related to Raven thw most, the poet with the pretty smile, her character spoke to the seventeen year old me on so many levels and my heart went right out to her.

I simply adored Rome, all of him. The anger, the broodiness, the pure brokenness of him and if I may say so his bad bad attitude. I loved that he wasnt your typical bad boy and that he was one of the misfits who wasnt the perfect guy who was simply a butt for the sake of it. His aggression though warranted hit all the right spots and left me thirsty for more of him.

Courtney, I can relate to in some aspects, the constant feeling of being walked on by the best friend and feeling somewhat isolated because of it even though it never says so thats how it came across to me. I admired her strength later on and was devastated for her character at times even though she did wrong early on.

K Webster has written an emotional book with an amazingly heartbreaking story, a few shocking twists, and characters so real I could almost touch them,. Mmm Rone, I definitely want to touch that guy, whew! I laughed and most certainly cried and because I have a cold it was the ugly crying lol.

The Day She Cried is going on the non-dark reread pile for sure! It was beautiful and I loved it. I was honoured to be selected for a chance to read this as an ARC and will definitely be one-clicking on release day.

I feel a lot of heavy, lingering emotions after reading this one. I dived into the story blind expecting the usual dark and tabboo read the author is best known for, but this book took me by a pleasant surprise. It has dark undertones to it, but it's not her usual kind of DARK. It was unnvering all the same. The story, the characters, the tragedy and especially the ENDING. It had dosage of everything and yet, it was warm, soothing, and made me feel so content and satisfied with the way things turned out.
Again, this is book which was not just written to be read as entertainment. It also address strong themes like cyberbullying and it's possible implications and consequences. It was also bold enough to add a bit of homo stuff ( not exactly but kind of..), making even more tabboo and dark but in a subtle and not so obvious way. That's what I loved the most about this book. It was twisted in a non guessable way and not something that would even make us cringe. It was handled and explained in a delicate yet gentle manner. It also makes us feel for the character. Their pain, anger, hatred, agony and even the thirst of lust.
I have believed that we people in our lives for a reason. It's like fate brings two people because it had plans for them and that's precisely what happens in this book. Everything falls into picture so perftly at the end!!
Characters- Raven is a time, girl who has fakes a smile to the see her bother happy. Her personality has a lot of depth to it, which is explored in the subsequent chapters of the book.
Roman- Raven's twin brother.I can't say I loved and him quite understand how his anger and hatred towards Courtney transformed into love without much clarifications from her side ( of what had happened in the past) but I could still get where he was coming from. He was very mercurial. Hot one moment and cold the other. His love for his sister was shown throughout the book and eventually his love for Courtney too.
Courtney - she can be called the female protagonist. Naive and a 'sheep' at the beginning but soon enough, she transformed into a 'wolf;)' . She was not perfect and her innocent and hasty mistakes did cost her a lot, but she repented and turned into someone I could admire and see eye to eye with.Overall she's a likeable character.
Whitney - The clear antagonist. How much I hate her. She always got on my nerves but was a perfect for for this story.
What's perfect for/ about this book is the name. It's so so beautiful and resonates perfectly with the theme and story. Raven who always smiles, did cry just one moment and that was the turning point for the whole book!!! Kudos to the name and its significance to this story. The cover art is also a good fit.
Overall an amazing and deep read.

I need to just not read the Blurb for K Webster’s books and just dive in, it’s not like I know what’s going to happen anyway...
I’m blown away by this book! While the author gave this to us in 3 parts, the ending of all 3 gave me a massive emotional outburst. This varied from devastated and angry, to angry and hurt, to making my heart hurt but then smile at the HEA.
I really didn’t like Courtney to start with, she was exactly the sheep that Rome accused her of being. She was truly stuck in her cheerleader world with the classic cheerleader bully for a best friend. She didn’t know how to say no to her and that was really frustrating. It wasn’t until after the devastation occurred and then Rome started harassing her that she started growing a backbone and finally started standing up to her bullies- and that included Rome.
Rome was a sad, traumatised young man. He’d had teenage fantasies of Courtney but they were then blurred with a horrible event and he wanted to hate her with a passion, he just didn’t realise until too late that that passion was actually love. But once again, he follows propaganda like the sheep that Courtney accuses him of being, and this breaks them apart.
I love that these two, in a round about way, gave each other the strength to live and to teach each other how to love.

K Webster covers a range of difficult topics here also in such a way that some are understandable and some are reprehensible. You really need to learn to think of how your actions can affect others before throwing it all out there.
