Glass beaker

French press coffee makers feature a durable borosilicate beaker. Borosilicate glass is an outstanding material: It is ultra-light and strong, has great heat resistant properties, and will not get cloudy in the dishwasher.

Spiral plate

The spiral plate keeps the filter mesh in place and makes sure that water goes through but no ground coffee. The flexible spiral provides a universal fit taking into account the manufacturing tolerances of glass jugs.

Mesh

The filter mesh is a key component to the Bodum coffee makers. It separates the ground coffee beans from the water after the brewing has stopped.

Cross plate

The cross plate holds the mesh in place together with the spiral plate.

Product Description

The Bodum Eileen French press coffee maker, was conceived not only in honor of the great designer Eileen Gray and all the coffee connoisseurs who frequent the bistros and cafes of Paris, Gray's adopted city. The beautifully detailed stainless steel frame offers extra protection for the glass carafe. The French press brews coffee in 4 minutes that is extremely flavorful. Simple and easy to use; just add coarse ground coffee to the press with hot water, let it sit for 4 minutes and press the plunger to stop the brewing process. The stainless steel filter system means no waste. Replacement parts are available.

The pictures online don't do this item any justice! It's not a tacky gold chrome as the 1st picture shows, but it's more of a classy gold chrome that would fit any midcentury modern and/or Hollywood regency home. I've posted a picture to this listing. It is absolutely gorgeous.34 ounces is pretty significant and will hold about 2-3 Starbucks tall coffee cups. I love my coffee piping hot and after the recommended 4 minute process, my coffee is still piping hot. Love it. I took away 1 star because it costs twice as much as another Bodum 34oz. french press....and I'm sure the performance is the same too. I just couldn't give up the lovely design. I figured that I'll be using this daily for years, so another $15 is nothing.

I bought this because I was worried about the plastic in my old drip coffee maker. This does have a small piece of plastic at the top, but it only touches the coffee for a few seconds while it's being poured, and isn't heated, so I'm not worried.

Overall, this coffeemaker makes the best, rich, dark coffee I've ever had. It's a cinch to use, and then just goes in the dishwasher.

I bought this french press because the one I had fell and broke. I decided on this one because it has casing surrounding the glass beaker so it protects it from breaking. This french press is just beautiful. I've only been drinking french press coffee for a few months and I tell you there is nothing better than french press coffee. If you having tried it give it a try. If you don't like any "grit" in your coffee try putting a coffee filter around the plunger it keeps all the coffee grains out of your cup. I love this press, I may even get a bigger one so I can make multiple cups for company. Great item, highly recommend.

I love french press coffee, but I don't drink too much. This is a perfect size and the quality of Bodum french presses are always pretty good. Unfortunately, I found this particular one to be a little less in quality. I have the same product in green, and the metal parts of this product seems less sterdy and well-made compared to the other one I own. I'm not sure why... It's still a very stylish and nice french press to own.

It wasn't as large as I thought it was going to be, but it's great for a delicious cup of french pressed coffee. The design is great and is good for someone who only wants 1-2 cups of coffee. I am kind of a coffeeholic so the larger one would be better for me, but this one works just as well!

The design is very modern and looks great in any kitchen! The only thing I'd like to point out is to keep in mind that the top silver lid is actually plastic and not metal. This isn't a huge issue, but may not last as long? Just something to keep in mind.

Tip: I bought this as a replacement for another one I had (same company) that I broke the glass part for. After receiving this, I learned that Bodum sells replacement glass pieces, so if you break, you may want to buy one of those instead of a whole new french press.

Just perfect for the fickle coffee drinker: Sometimes a half cup is plenty, sometimes I want a tall cuppa to nurse in a thermos. I love-love-love that I can gauge the amount of water for however much coffee I am in the mood for by pouring to the bars on the fancy decorative metal holder. I am simply amazed at why more people are not owning a french coffee press. I love mine and will NEVER go back to drip EVER. Everything in my coffee press works fine the glass is durable and lid stays on, functions wonderfully.

This is the 2nd Bodum coffee maker I've bought. The other (all metal) one was pretty good but this one is even better. I always drink a mug (not a cup) of coffee so by filling this 1/2 way it makes one perfect MUG of coffee. So I guess it's about 4 regular cups. It's beautiful to look at, easy to clean and would make a great gift. So,,, if you like to drink a couple of mugs of coffee this is the one to get.
