About this item
- EASY TO USE: Objects that eclipse the sun’s light will show up in white, with the rest of the paper turning a vibrant Prussian Blue. Place a fern, flower, or other object on the special paper and set it in the sun briefly. Then rinse the paper in water and watch as a beautiful long-lasting image appears!
- HANDS-ON FUN: Sunprinting is a great hands-on activity to do with groups. Whether it be in the classroom, in a camp, a museum workshop, birthday party or any other group setting, get people together, share ideas and play
- VERSATILE: Layering techniques, motion, and manipulation of the paper itself are all implements in the Sunprinter’s toolbox. Make prints of physical objects or transfer digital images via transparency sheet
- ART WITH THE POWER OF THE SUN: Sunprinting is based on the cyanotype process, which has been used by artists since its development in the 19th century
- SUN-BASED SCIENCE: Sunprint paper can be used as a scientific tool. Its sensitivity to ultra-violet light lends itself to sun-based investigations. It can also be used as a measuring tool for any other UV light source, or as a photographic medium to use in scientific experiments

Product Description
The History of Sunprint
Since 1975, the Sunprint Kit has provided fun, learning, and creative stimulation for the curious of all ages. Originally developed as a teaching tool by educators at the Lawrence Hall of Science on the UC Berkeley campus. All proceeds from the sale of Sunprint Kits continue to aid our mission to inspire and foster the learning of science and mathematics for all.
The SunPrint Solar Paper lets you make beautiful pictures by placing objects on the paper and exposing it to the sun. The paper undergoes a chemical change when exposed to sunlight. Save the print by soaking in water then drying. The Sunprint paper can be used for a creative, solar art project. With this paper you can also demonstrate UV blocking sunscreen by smearing sunscreen on plexiglass and exposing the paper to the sun. Use different strengths of sunscreen and see how the image has changed.
Sunprints encourage an interest in the photographic process using only sun, water, and a bit of imagination.
Place a fern, flower, or other object on the special paper and set it in the sun briefly. Then rinse the paper in water and watch as a beautiful long-lasting image appears!
The Super Sunprint Kit contains 15 8″x12″ sheets and one acrylic overlay.

would absolutetely recommend this product
The one framed here was leaves from our yard.
~ If you can, buy a larger piece of plastic/glass. I used the one provided and it did its job. However, since I had to hold mine due to the wind, I ended up with prints of my fingertips along with the leaves! lol. A slightly larger piece of plastic would allow you to hold the piece without worrying about leaving your mark, so to speak. Cutting the sheets in half would also help; you can use the included plastic with no problem and you'll have more sheets.
~ Strong, unobstructed sunlight is best! We were in a bit of a shady campsite, so we had to dodge the shadows of the leaves a little bit. While it still worked, the end result would be much darker if the light were unimpeded.
~ Don't panic when you first put it into the water and see the page turn white. I hadn't done this in so long, I'd forgotten about that bit and worried that I ruined our work. Just keep soaking/rinsing the sheet and you'll see the print pop out in no time.
~ Lastly, give it time to develop. Lay the print in a flat, well-ventilated area and allow to dry undisturbed. I laid ours on the picnic table and they were dry in about an hour.
Overall, I'm happy with this product. It was a neat thing to share with my nephew and I had a fun throwback to my childhood!
