The Casio Men's Edifice Stainless Steel Multi-Function Chronograph Watch exists at the crossroads of comfort, style and functionality…which is where you should be. This dynamic timepiece kicks off with a 45.5mm stainless steel case and a stationary bezel with a textured edge. There are also pushers on both sides of the case, along with a protected screw-down crown on the right side. The watch's black dial is a flurry of function with a sliding inner bezel, silver-toned hour markers and hands, which are powered by quartz movement. The dial also features three chronograph sub-dials with 12-hour, 60-minute and 60-second displays, along with a date display window at the 3 'o clock position. The stainless steel three-link bracelet straps this watch to the wrist, while a fold-over push-button clasp with a safety ensures that it stays there. Finally, this watch offers water resistance up to 330 feet (100 meters).
Casio
With the launch of its first watch in November 1974, Casio entered the wristwatch market at a time when the watch industry had just discovered digital technology. As a company with cutting-edge electronic technology developed for pocket calculators, Casio entered this field confident that it could develop timepieces that would lead the market.
Today, Casio is focusing its efforts on solar-powered radio-controlled watches: the built-in solar battery eliminates the nuisance of replacing batteries, atomic timekeeping means the users never have to reset the time. Recently, Casio launched a series of Bluetooth watches that sync to the users cell phone to automatically update the time. Casio is always moving time forward.

The bracelet is inline with the quality you would find on some Seiko models costing three times as much. Yes, it's a bit flimsy and light making a song of its own when you put the watch on or take it off, but at this price point, it's a very well made bracelet overall and aesthetically pleasing to be sure. With a mixture of brushed and polished edges, the oyster bracelet (with a hint of engineer style center links) is very attractive as is the watch entirely. And it's a cinch to adjust the links. No pin and collar system, just friction pins.
As a few have mentioned, the watch looks MUCH more expensive than it is and it's a perfect weight as well. The case design is definitely unique between the lugs. A polished and brushed lip accenting the bezel and dial. It's something unique to this watch out of the forty-five I have in my collection. A small detail but one that made me smile.
The lume isn't stellar as far as brightness goes, but it is sufficient and it lasts a decent amount of time. It's a pleasing turquoise blue. Similar to a few of my Citizen's, though not quite as bright.
100 meters water resistance and I would be confident in that with the watch's screw down crown. Another feature not always found on watches costing much more. Suitable for swimming of course, but do NOT depress the pushers while underwater. I would also never shower with ANY of my watches regardless of their rating. Hot shower water (or any extended exposure to heated water) and the cooler air found inside of the watch are not a good combination. It's senseless to shower with a watch in any case. Ocean and pool water are what they're designed for.
I'm not sure what processes Casio uses to sell watches at the prices they do, but I'm glad I've been able to benefit from it. As many others have. This watch could easily be sold for $150 more than the price I paid and would be worth it.
Very pleased with this purchase!
All the hands are just where you think they should be (it's a pet peeve of mine if the hands are just a little off the marker).
The luminosity of the dial is not impressive, but sufficient to read the time in a dark theater towards the end of a movie.
One thing that could have been solved better is the stopwatch function: the minute hand on the subdial does not advance once for every full minute, but constantly. I guess it's mechanically simpler, and I can live with it, but it's less than optimal.
Operation is dead simple, you don't even need to open the manual - and let's face it, many "sports" watches have way too many functions. You never use them because you'd need the manual every time, but you still have to click your way through them every time you want to get to the functions you actually need.
This watch cuts the chaff and keeps the wheat!
My other contenders (not going to use expensive watches at work, but also don't want to buy shiny junk) were some Seikos and Citizens; some of those were too large for the sake of largeness, others didn't have all the functions, others had way too many functions.
This one is just right, unbeatable at this price.
The watch has a good weight with the included bracelet, and has a good combination of brushed and polished finishes. The dial looks busy at first glance, but everything there makes sense. The chronograph is split between the three dials and works properly. The slide rule works as well, and seems to be fairly accurate. The slide rule text is small, but in good light, I have no issues making out the text. The bracelet is a bit large for average or small wrists, so you'll need to remove a few links to get a good fit. I didn't have a tool to remove the link pins, but I did have one for the spring bars, so I swapped the bracelet for a NATO strap. Form and function come together perfectly with this watch, and it looks far more expensive than its price would indicate.
Casio obviously put as little effort into the packaging as possible, cheap cardboard and a basic plastic stand. It's better than nothing, and it protected the watch, but it was barely holding together when it arrived. The included instructions were useless, but luckily, the functions on the watch are easy to figure out. After a few seconds, I was an expert.
If you're in the market for a flight watch, and have your eye on a Citizen Nighthawk or Seiko Flightmaster, the Casio Edifice EF527D-1AV may be a less expensive, but equally functional alternative.
