    What is an unlocked phone?

An unlocked phone is a device that is not bound to any carrier or plan. It allows you to choose your phone first and your carrier second. Upon selecting a plan, simply insert the carrier's SIM card into the phone and you're ready to go. If you decide you want to change carriers down the road or want to take an international trip, it's as simple as replacing your existing SIM card with a new SIM and activating your new plan.

What are the benefits of an unlocked phone?

Freedom: Choose the carrier with the best service or price. If you find a better deal later, you have the ability to change to a different carrier.

Travel: Take your phone internationally and use the carrier of your choice. It's as easy as inserting an active SIM card.

Selection: Choose the phone with the features you want, whether or not your carrier sells it, and get more service options without a contract.

How do I set up my unlocked phone?

The first thing you’ll need is a SIM card for your desired carrier. When activated, the SIM card will let your phone connect to your carrier’s network. If you decide to upgrade to a newer unlocked phone in the future, you can easily remove the SIM card from your old phone and put it in your new phone—just make sure you get the right size of SIM card (nano, micro, or standard) for your phone. If you want to use your phone while traveling internationally, you can easily buy a SIM card for a carrier that operates where you’re traveling. As long as it’s activated, you can just swap SIM cards when you arrive at your destination.

    Happy so far!
Just received this phone today so I can give first impressions only at this time. I'd finally had enough with paying $600+ for flagship phones...and when my months-old Samsung Galaxy S8 started randomly freezing on me in addition to the random reboots it's been plagued with since I first got it (and yes, I'd done several factory resets and checked for problem apps) I decided to "downgrade" to a more reasonably priced phone. Enter the Moto G5 Plus. I did extensive research before deciding on this particular phone which seems to tick off all the boxes for what I really want in a phone. So far I love the near stock Android experience it offers. The screen definitely isn't as sharp and vibrant as my S8 but after using the phone all day I don't even notice it. Looks awesome for the price point. Have noticed no lag nor stutters at all, even while running multiple apps (I got the 2gb version btw). Love the quick gestures to use the flashlight and camera. Imo the phone feels more premium than what I paid for it. Haven't used the camera much yet so I can't comment to that yet. My only real beef with the phone is the lack of NFC...I'm going to miss mobile payments without it.Note: Definitely get a case for it right away, it's quite slippery. I've actually already dropped it from about 3.5 feet onto our ceramic tiled kitchen floor...it landed on its corner and flipped/bounced a couple times before landing face down....I thought I was going to have a heart attack lol. Picked it up and there is absolutely no evidence it was dropped at all. Still can't believe it...my S8 would have been shattered lol. There's not even a nick or scratch anywhere to be found on it. Build quality must be pretty darn good to survive that...but I immediately ordered a case after that.So far so good. Will update in the future after I've been able to get some real usage on the phone.Edit: Battery life has been fantastic! I realize the top-notch, cutting edge screens on the flagships I'm used to using are battery drainers, but it's refreshing to have a phone I can use all day if need be without having to worry about charging it halfway through the day. I've gotten up to 8 hours of screen on time on this phone! Attaching a couple screenshots as proof.
