Product Description

Set in the underbelly of Mumbai, between the infamous by-lanes where Greed is a Culture and Deceit becomes a Compulsion .

The film revolves around gangs of Mumbai who have embraced pickpocketing as an art and a means of earning a livelihood. They use their intelligence as a canvas and their spontaneity as a brush to survive in this dangerous profession.

Bhindi Baazaar Inc. is the story of a pawn and his calculated moves to reach the other end of the chessboard. Revolving around vicious crime syndicates, the film starts with a game of chess being played between two characters; Shroff and Darzi . It highlights the ambitious and planned moves of a pawn to reach the other end of the board. Their every move in the game correlates with life in the real world and how people are used or killed as the game progresses.

The story is based on the quest of a small time pickpocket Fateh and his ambitions to become a MAMU (local area don). The screenplay underlines the gritty politics, feared hierarchy, unspoken rules, authoritative commands, shrewd intelligence, crafty wit and cold blooded betrayals, within the business.

About the Actor

Kay Kay Menon, known to friends as Kichu, grew up in Ambarnath and Pune. He majored in Physics at the Mumbai University after which he did an MBA in Marketing at the Pune University. He started out in theater and also did ads for brands like Marlboro Cigarettes and Kinetic Honda. This was followed by several opportunities in television like Pradhan Mantri and Last Train to Mahakali. 1995 to 2003 Menon s first movie was Naseem (1995) about the Babri Masjid demolition. Bhopal Express (1999) was a story around the Bhopal Gas Tragedy. Hazaaron Khwaishein Hai (2003) won him a lot of praise as he played one of the three protagonists. Though not commercially successful it was critically acclaimed. 2004 to 2009 He played the role of DCP Rakesh Maria in Black Friday (2004) investigating the Bombay Riots. Sarkar (2005) made him a more commercial face when he played Amitabh Bachchan s son. The movie was based on The Godfather and Menon s role was based on Sonny. His other laudable performance was in Madhur Bhandarkar s Corporate (2006) which looked at the inner workings of corporates. In Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd (2007) he played Partho Sen, a quiet and traditional man whose wife turns out to be feisty. Anurag Basu s Life in a Metro (2007) saw him as Ranjeet married and having a fling with a colleague. The movie was successful as was Mumbai Meri Jaan (2008), which was an award winner. Drona (2008) failed at the box office while The Stoneman Murders (2009) did fairly well. His next two releases are David Dhawan s Hook Ya Crook and Aage Se right.
