After looking at a lot of reviews on Amazon, I picked this one because it was the right size we were looking for, and did not seem to have the durability or construction issues that some other bins did. The side panels bolted together easily, with well made overlapping edges. The lid is easy to use, and kids are able to pop it off and back on to add compost.

I've set a few of these up outside my house to see if I can get some compost out of it using kitchen scraps, dead leaves, and whatever else I need to get rid of. Practically turning trash into treasure. They were very easy to assemble and so far seem to be working very well. I placed them directly on the soil so worm and such can get in, but put a layer of galvanized mesh just in case there are some rodents who want to get to some of the compost/scraps. Overall the product is what I wanted - now we will see in a month or two if I have the ability to make it useful.

your can cold compost but not hot compost with this bin

It is a sturdy, easy to use compost bin but its just too small to achieve the mass necessary to get the internal temperature to a level where hot composting will occur. I have tried everything and the closest I have come is 110 degrees in the summer. It does a good job of cold composting, which just takes longer.

I am so glad I looked into this before buying. It is very well made, it is a simple design and I appreciate the fact that there are extra flaps at the bottom. Worth the money, it is a solid product.
