Product Description

A finely pigmented rich sepia colored water-based ink. It's great for all kinds of drawings and works well with a brush or dip pen. In washes, it handles like a watercolor, with good layering and lifting capabilities. The rich color resembles traditional walnut-based inks, but will not fade. The warm character of walnut ink is reminiscent of drawings by Rembrandt

Very Beautiful, Midrange Brown, Ink Spills Easily from Bottle

Very Beautiful, Midrange Brown, Ink Spills Easily from Bottle
I used this ink in a cheap notebook with very thin, gritty paper, as well as on a flashcard. In both instances, I was able to achieve very thin hairlines with minimal feathering on the downstrokes. The ink bottle is very wide and allows plenty of space to dip multiple pens at once. With just one dip, I was able to write several letters or a pair of short words, while achieving the ombre-effect of the brown's hue. On creme-coloured paper, the ink looks dark brown, but on white paper, the ink is midrange with dark brown and tan on a few places. Regardless of the paper, it is easy to tell that the ink is brown when compared to the black India ink on the photo (I used a Nikko G nib in both samples). I am very pleased with this ink, as it also writes very smoothly. My only complaint is that the ink spills from the bottle quite easily, even when tightly closed, so I would reccomend using a dinky dip.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best of Walnut/Iron Gall/Sepia inks.
Reviewed in the United States on October 7, 2018
The Best of Walnut/Iron Gall/Sepia inks. Be sure to shake the bottle to ensure the sediment on the bottom of the jar mixes in. This makes all the difference! That said, this is a very beautiful ink with perfect flow/viscosity. It will not drop or bleed or fade. When used with a dip pen, it produces a lovely opaque line which darkens at the edges of each stroke producing a beautifully aged look to the writing. The bottle is easy to dip into but seals well without leaking. Great product. Good price point. For best results, be sure to let the bubbles settle after shaking so as not to get bubbles on your nib.
