How Daniel Smith Paint is Made
Merchant Video
Product Description
A finely pigmented rich sepia colored water-based ink. It's great for all kinds of drawings and works well with a brush or dip pen. In washes, it handles like a watercolor, with good layering and lifting capabilities. The rich color resembles traditional walnut-based inks, but will not fade. The warm character of walnut ink is reminiscent of drawings by Rembrandt

What I DO like: Everything else! This ink, when used with a leonardt principal or hunt imperial on 100% cotton vellum is a dream! It's unlike any other ink I have. It doesn't bleed or feather. It doesn't flow from the pen too quickly, I can achieve the finest hairlines. Normally when you come off of a shade into a hairline sometimes the flow doesn't stop with other inks, but this ink lessens it's flow immediately, allowing for amazing control. It's thin like a water color ink would be, but I have water color inks and they will flow from the pen like a fountain, giving you very fat hairlines. I'm not sure what the secret ingredient is but I definitely recommend this ink to all pointed pen calligraphers.
