A GREAT and USEFUL Gadget, but...
    3 Stars
A GREAT and USEFUL Gadget, but...
there are several reasons why I can't rate it higher.First, there is a major conflict between the Quick Start Guide (QSG) and User Manual (UM). Before using, the camera needs to be charged. However, the QSG CLEARLY shows the cable being plugged into the side of the camera. But, the UM states, "When charging via computer, please use the USB port on the Mount. Plugging into the camera will result in it switching to Mass Storage mode. Of course, I discovered this AFTER charging for 3 hours, plugged into the camera. Luckily, and at least so far, this hasn't effected the performance. In addition, there is some confusion in both the QSG, and UM. They say to press the Confirm button. There is no Confirm button; one has to press the OK button. And, they say, UP and DOWN arrows. You guessed it; one has to press the LEFT and RIGHT arrows. For the price, I'm surprised that the SD card isn't included. And, in order to increase the life of the card, it has to be formatted every 2 weeks. On newer cars with Advanced Safety Systems (e.g.: Adaptive Cruise Control and/or Forward Collision Avoidance), the camera can not be mounted directly behind the rear-view mirror. It has to be mounted off to the side, or below the mirror (see 1st picture). At least the device is small enough not to impair visibility too much. Though, some states may not allow this. Also, and while no surprise, neither the USB cable, or Charging cable is long enough. I had to route the cable in plain view (see picture), which imo, makes the car look tacky. EDIT: I was able to reroute the cable on the drivers' side of the car. Therefore, much of the cable is no longer clearly visible. And, I believe that the G-Sensor is a bit too sensitive, as the camera has stored several EVENTS (there are 2 folders; NORMAL (regular video) and EVENT (special, or crash video), though no crash, or any noticeable problem has occurred. EDIT: Problem resolved. One can change the setting of the GPS Sensor in the Record Settings. Finally, you can see that the video clearly shows the car in motion, but the on-board MPH indicator reads 0. EDIT: A GPS Mount is required for the speed indicator to work. Now, forward and in-cabin video is awesome (see 2nd through 4th pictures). However, the video showing outside the cabin windows, and the rear-view window is mediocre at best. And, awful at worse (see 3rd and 4th pictures). However, I contribute this to the sharp angle of the back window, and the fact, that my windows are tinted. Also, I read a 1 Star review where the poster complained about having to remove the camera each time. Now, I don't remove it each time (nor, why the other reviewer has to), but because of the hot Arizona summers, and the fact that I use a Sun Shield, I find the easy removal and install of the camera to be a great thing.Overall, I really like this camera. I just wish the cable was a bit longer, and additional stuff didn't have to be purchased to make it work at its peak.EDIT, 3 JUL 18: Hmm, I could have sworn that I updated this review a day, or 2 ago. But, for some reason, it didn't take... In addition to the above edits, this company's Customer Service is 2nd to none! In all my years of ordering from Amazon, as well as in the Big Box Stores, Vantrue is FANTASTIC! They go out of their way to answer questions, and address problems to the customers' satisfaction. Thanks, Christine, and Vantrue.EDIT, 20 AUG 2019:In my opinion, the Customer Service is top notch. And, they go out of their way to help you to resolve any problems that one may have with this dash cam. However, back in July 2018, the camera started acting up (skipped recordings, and battery not holding a charge). So, I contacted Vantrue, and they did honor the Warranty :-) . But, I had to pay (about $15.00 US) to ship the defective unit back. And, while they did send me a new in-the-box unit earlier this year, this unit is one big problem child. While it works as designed, it too has 3 intermittent problems. One, is holding a charge; sometimes it does; sometimes it doesn't. Another, and in the few months that I have had it (keep in mind, I do not use it everyday), only 1 time have I been able to access the settings menu to format the SD card (so I hope that deleting files very 2 weeks will help). And, one time when I did have access, I was able to change the defaults. But, later on the camera reset itself. But, today, it was back to what I set it at. And, the battery shows a full charge. Though, I still can not access the settings menu. So, for the price, this camera does have problems. And, despite the great customer service, I would think twice before buying it again.

5.0 out of 5 stars A dual-facing dashcam that can do a little bit of everything
Reviewed in the United States on October 28, 2018
    Background
After several near-misses, I am looking to add a dual-facing dashcam to my wife’s car. She is not exactly a defensive driver, and there are lots of unexpected out there on the road, so we have to prepare for the worst. I am looking for a front-facing and inside-facing cam that can record road situation, parking monitoring, while not breaks my wallet. If you have ever shopped for a car cam, you know the market is flushed with a lot of different options.

After done some homework, it seems this Vantrue N2 could be the answer although I have not heard this company before. Anker and Yi have some nice single cams, but the dual-facing cam market still lacks big players. I took the chance on Vantrue, and it is well worth it.

The product arrived with neat box and very detail guide/manual. English is very good in the manual explaining things (lots of products have that weird translation almost incomprehensible). The cam body was overprotected by wraps and cushions in the box. It comes with everything you need to set it up (minus the SD card, and I highly recommend any SD card with endurance feature).

I intend to hardwire this cam, so I also purchased the hardwire kit from the same company. But really any mini-USB hardwire kit will work. I actually like the fact it is mini-USB connection, and I will explain that later. So everything set up nice and easy, the menu is very intuitive with mostly four buttons (ok, left, right, menu/return). The mount is secure with a rotation lock mechanism. Wife likes it, also not intrusive looking because of the hardwire kit.

Here are some pictures. In the night time picture, you can clearly see the car tag next to my car. A lot of these cams are worse in darkness to a point almost unusable. The front cam has a resolution of 1440*1080 and inside cam is 720p, the quality is crisp and serves my purpose.

    Pros
Instant replay on the LCD screen is a godsend if you need to show the video to a cop or as a deterrent to prevent another involved party lying. (which I hope you will never face)
The removable mount: huge advantage if you have to park your car, say in a not-so-safe place. You can remove the cam from mount effortlessly, it is also easy to transfer files in this way.
Both mount and cam have mini-USB ports. There is a smart detection function, so the cam knows when it is being charged by the car, and when it is connected to a computer for sync. Personally, I prefer mini USB. It is thicker than mini-USB, which means more durable. I have filth micro-USB connector broke before.
Motion sensor and G sensor are there for snapping a picture while in parking and time-lapse video.
The inside lens can rotate so that you can customize the angle of the inside/outside lens.
The cam has very nice tactic looking.
Take pictures too with the press a button.
The stamps on video can be customized to have information such as Car tag, time, speed, etc. I know some other cams can not turn off the company logo, not the case with Vantrue (who want to have the company logo on there any way…)
The company website is nice, and they constantly updated their firmware. The firmware update process is also simple.

    Cons
Extra cost to have GPS mount (~$20), or you can buy the pro version. For me, I do not need it but to each of its own.
The inside cam has no infrared, so you probably will not get much recording inside when it is night, again not a big deal to me.

    Neutral
The parking mode needs either a USB charger or hardwire to a constant supply fuse of your battery, which may drain out your battery.
The recording format is .mov, only a problem if you have something like an ancient computer that cannot recognize this format.

    Bottomline
Will recommend to anyone with similar expectation and budget.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best dual dash cam on the market.
Reviewed in the United States on August 11, 2017
VanTrue N2 is my fourth dash cam and finally I found a one that I can stick to. Camera does not looks or feels cheap. It is a solid camera. This is not the cheapest camera on the market but I’m sure well worth the money I spent if there’s any accident or you want to prove that you were not distracted using your cell phone. This is the camera you need if you do ride-sharing services. Camera comes with quick setup guide, manual and warranty cards.

All others I had was just front camera dash cams. This one is unique and comes with two cameras. Front camera is full 1080p and back camera is 720p. Front camera lens is 170° wide and rear camera has 140° lens and it’s capable of recording whole cars inside including driver and front passenger. Back camera is rotatable to get the proper angle. I added couple of pictures to show you how it rotates.

Camera is small enough to install in the front windshield without getting too much attention from thieves. Also I like the complete matte black color. I have other dash cam’s that has silver shinning ring around the lens and that tells outsiders that I have a camera inside. I would blackout white lettering in the front if it draws attention. I wish they had a rear view mirror mount.

Power adapter and cable comes with it is long enough (11½ ft. long) to run through headliner and A-Pillar to hide and bring it to cigarette lighter. Either you can use camera body’s mini USB port or the mini USB port on suction cup to power this up. I use SanDisk 64GB class 10 card in the camera. Camera will not see your 64GB card until you format it in the camera or format to FAT32 on a computer and put it in.

Camera’s loop recording intervals are 1, 3, 5, or 10 minutes. Or else you can turn the loop recording off and get a one long video clip. I might do that one of these days to see the outcome. Camera has mini HDMI out and AV out but I have not tested them yet. G-sensor works great and lock the video clip if there is an accident and then file moves to “EVENT” folder.

Now I know this is a solid camera so I would go ahead and get a hardwire kit and GPS mount to go with it.
