Overall this is an excellent laptop. I won't go into benchmarking tests and all that, since other reviews already do that. I also won't review ASUS' customer service, since I haven't used it (though my wife has had poor experiences in the past).

I got this laptop when it was ~$1400, which was a very good deal for what I got. This can handle most games on high or ultra settings, with only the most demanding games that you will have to turn down. The 24 GB of RAM is overkill. I dedicate 8 GB to a Minecraft server in the background, and still do whatever I please (gaming, internet, whatever) and don't notice a difference. As noted by other reviewers the cooling is excellent in this laptop. While I haven't done a full stress test on it (where I play games all day and see how it handles it), it has never gotten uncomfortable warm or hot thanks to the giant cooling system on the back. It has a backlit keyboard, which given the dark color scheme of the keyboard, is essential for most lighting conditions. I haven't fully tested the battery life either, but from extrapolation, you should be able to get about 2-3 hours from normal usage. The touchscreen is also a fun feature that I really enjoy. The addition of a moderate SS drive and a 1 TB HDD provides excellent cost effective flexibility, allowing you to speed demanding games on your SS, while still having the benefits of a large storage space for documents, pictures and the like.
Overall the construction of the laptop feels very solid, which means that it will (hopefully) survive at least several years. The only thing that I am worried about is that the power brick connection to the cord that goes to the laptop doesn't look very durable, and I worry that it will wear out or break within a year or so (especially if you wind up the cord a lot for travel). This laptop was clearly geared towards gamers (hence the title Republic of Gamers) in every aspect, from the aesthetics to the hardware to the pre-installed software. Most of the pre-installed software is at least mildly useful, such as a game-recording programming, USB quick charging software, a program that you can use to program the special keys on your keyboard, etc. The OS is windows 10, which is definitely a vast improvement on Windows 8 in my opinion.
Finally, as most people have mentioned, the laptop is big and heavy. I was expecting this, but when I opened the box, I was still surprised at how big it was. So be prepared for the fact that the power of this laptop does come at the price of size.
