Features:

Nikon Silent Wave Motor
A significant innovation in AF lens technology, Nikon's Silent Wave Motor uses ultrasonic (inaudible) vibrations—rather than a gear system—to focus the lens, providing incredibly smooth, silent and precise autofocus operation.

M/A Focus Mode Switch
When fine manual focusing is needed, simply rotate the lens focus ring—M/A mode allows you to seamlessly override the AF system with virtually no time lag.

Super Integrated Coating
Nikon's Super Integrated Coating enhances light transmission efficiency and offers superior color consistency and reduced lens flare.

Nano Crystal Coat
An anti-reflective coating developed by Nikon that virtually eliminates internal lens element reflections across a wide range of wavelengths.

Rear Focusing
A system in which only the rear lens group moves during focusing, thus eliminating changes in the physical length of the lens during focusing and enabling faster focusing. Such lenses are designated with RF on the lens barrel.

Wonderful general walk-around, group and landscape lens.
When I bought this lens, I was looking for a sharp, fast prime for group photography, walk-around and landscapes. It meets all those needs very well. I've used it with a D600, D610 and D750. It produces very nice bokeh wide open and is sharp all around.Since then Nikon has released the 20mm f/1.8G and the 24mm f/1.8G. It's possible that if I had to choose with all three available at the time, I would have probably picked the 20mm f/1.8G instead, but I'm glad those choices were not open to me at the time, because I feel the 28mm is a bit more versatile. It's not too wide and it's not too narrow. The 20mm and 24mm would have been a bit too wide for most other photography. They probably would have stayed in the bag more often than the 28mm does. In fact the 28mm is attached most of the time when going out for casual shooting even though I also have a 50mm f/1.4G and 85mm f/1.8G, both of which can be a little too narrow sometimes.Simply put, the 28mm is ready for just about any situation. Love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Technisch erstklassiges Objektiv; sinnvolle Festbrennweite?
Reviewed in Germany on January 29, 2016
