About the author
I'm a public relations consultant in Atlanta and a member of Georgia Romance Writers (GRW) and Atlanta Writers Club. I am the past co-chair and current steering committee member of Roswell Reads and a member of the Atlanta Authors Committee. I've won writing awards in Single Title, Suspense Romance, Paranormal/Fantasy, and Novels with Strong Romantic Elements. I was The Finalist in the 2017 Georgia Author of the Year Awards in the Romance category for Stumble Stones: A Novel, and the 2018 Georgia Author of the Year Finalist in the Romance Category for The Alibi. I write in a variety of genres, including humorous Women's Fiction; Romantic Suspense/Thrillers; Historical Romance, Fantasy and Cozy Mysteries. I write short stories, have written for anthologies, and I've even written a musical with my sister, Florida artist Sharon Goldman, called Memory Lane about Alzheimer's. I graduated from The University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and a major in Public Relations. Born in Miami, Florida, I live in Roswell, Georgia, with my husband.
What's unique about my writing? I try to inject humor into everything I write, from romantic suspense to women's fiction. I like to laugh and I think my readers do too. I tend to feature older heroines, because let's face it, we're not getting any younger.
DESTINATION FICTION: While I'm not writing, I enjoy reading, traveling, eating Italian food and hovering over my two daughters and two granddaughters. I studied in Florence, Italy, for six months during my senior year in college and set many of my books in Florence and other places I've visited.

New Release: Blame it on the Moon, released June 21, 2023, from The Wild Rose Press, my 30th work of fiction.
Here is a 5+-star review from N.N. Light's Book Heaven.
Strange things can happen on a blood moon, as Petra soon discovers. Everything has changed but is this a nightmare or a second chance at life. I can safely say this book is the most original premise I’ve ever read. It had me thinking thoughts I haven’t had since I was in university. Blame it on the Moon is an unputdownable read you’ll finish in one sitting.
It starts with the world-building. Marilyn Baron is a prolific author who knows how to create an addictive yet relatable world. She uses words to lure the reader into the world she’s created. It’s such an immersive reading experience.
The characters are well-written with emotional tension. I connected with Petra right away. She’s a woman who’s been through a lot and then deals with what happens as a result of the blood moon. Her family has moved on without her. What should she do? This is her dilemma and it’s a realistic one. The other characters are well-drawn and make an impact.
The writing is sophisticated and yet has a realistic vibe. Marilyn Baron describes each scene with emotion and accuracy. Her characterization and descriptive narration paint a picture that draws the reader into the story. Once I started reading, I couldn’t stop until the very last page.
If you’re looking for an original story, pick up Blame it on the Moon. I strongly recommend this book to all readers.

Many thanks to the author / Wild Rose Press, Inc / Netgalley for the digital copy of THE ALIBI. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
How would you react if your boss used you as an alibi? He says he didn't kill his pregnant lover ... but Meritt Saxe sawthe body and saw her boss covered in blood. Although she is appalled and scared, he forces her to help him cover up the crime.
She's new at her job and doesn't want to mess that up ... but now she's convinced her boss is a murderer ... so will he come after her if she doesn't keep quiet?
Meritt blames the stress on the breakup with her boyfriend, but then she meets attorney Israel Goodspeed. When she finally breaks down and tells him what she knows, he becomes her protector.
But what will her boss do when confronted?
This is a very short read... less than 150 pages. While well-written, it comes across as more romance than mystery. There is very little suspense and most of the action revolves around Meritt and her boyfriends.
What Merritt thought was a perfect entry-level job in her suited field, turns quickly into a nightmare. What do you do when you have a love struck boss, and an arrogant director who runs the Florida prison system? You suck up and hope that you are doing your job right! When Merritt's boss leaves for the day unexpectedly, she puts Merritt in charge and tells her that nothing should go wrong in her absence. But that is EXACTLY what happens. Shortly after Peggy leaves the office, Director Willard Baintree calls to request assistance. He provides her the address and tells her to get over to him as soon as possible, without letting anyone know of his whereabouts. What seems a little suspicious at first, becomes downright criminal upon seeing the director in blood-stained clothes and his mistress's dead body in the next room. After telling her that he didn't kill her, Merritt knows that she is now his alibi and fears for her life. She has to be at his every beck and call, right? Wouldn't that make her an accessory to murder if she told anyone? Their secret cannot stay bottled up forever, especially once she finds the man of her dreams who happens to be...a lawyer.
Baron does a superb job with character development and credibility. As this mystery slowly unfolds, so many things are thrown at these characters in rapid succession--making the story fun and enticing! The pace is fast, which is a preference for most and the story is creative. If you are a reader of mystery, suspense, and crime fiction, you may want to pick this up!
A copy of this book was provided to Turning Another Page by Book Unleashed, but this in no way affects our honest opinion of the book or the review that has been written. We provide a five-star rating for The Alibi by Marilyn Baron.
What made me like the book even more was the tone of the narration. Merritt’s voice is like listening to a friend confessing her secret, simple and even regretful at times. The difference between the innocent and young PR specialist and the mature character that relates the events is well defined. We see her struggle to prove herself in a rather aggressive world – working in the prison system is not a difficult job, especially for a woman.
The Romance blends beautifully with the thriller side of the story. I believe the author did a wonderful job combining the two, so that the story never leaves its focus. Merritt and Israel’s relationship is under the same painful secret and she will struggle if she should trust him or not.
All in all, I am really pleased with “The Alibi”. It is a great book for fans of crime and thriller, but as well for romance lovers. This is my first book by Marilyn Baron, but I’ve heard so many great things about her writing and our current story is a proof of that. She is definitely an author worth following. Enjoy !
