But Shubb make the best all-around capo. Beautiful design, completely open on one side so it doesn't interfere with the fretting hand as many capos do.
- Easy to use
- Indestructible
- Adjustable clamping force to a pure tone
- Small and unobtrusive
- Reasonably priced so you can buy extras
- Won't damage guitar neck
- Can be used in some locations as a partial (5-string) capo. For example, put it on at the 4th fret from the treble side covering 5 string and play in C-shape, you're really in E with an especially low bass note.
- You can use two capos, one from each side, for tunings which look like "Drop-D" but are higher up the neck.
I can't be stored on the headstock like a spring capo (Kyser, etc,), and maybe takes a few seconds longer to install, but is smaller and more versatile in all other respects.
If your guitar has a particularly wide neck (>1-3/4" at the nut), you might prefer the Shubb Deluxe 12-String capo, which is the same thing only wider.
"Deluxe" means it has a roller on the cam. The non-deluxe model costs a few dollars less but works just as well, save for slightly more force required to put it on. I prefer the deluxe versions but only slightly, and mostly on aesthetic grounds, the function is just about identical.
It's built quite well, simple in design and nice looking. Works very well.
I gave it 4 stars because I believe everything can be improved. Nothing is perfect. The $200 capo I mentioned above has an excellent feature: It can sit harmlessly out of the way just above the nut on the guitar head. If the Shubb could do that, I'd give it 4 1/2 stars.
But stars are meaningless. What's meaningful is that I am quite pleased with the Shubb Deluxe capo and use it frequently.

Esta cejilla no deja ninguna marca. Tú eliges cuánto quieres que apriete el mástil. La guitarra, gracias a tener un apriete ligero, no desafina absolutamente nada.
De verdad, muy recomendable.
The Shubb is easy to adjust with the screw and set. Works really well and comes with simple instructions.
One downside of the Shubb is that it's a little harder to move its position with just the fretting hand. Personally, I don't find that an issue (I just reach across with the picking hand to shift it). A second issue is that it doesn't clip to the headstock when not in use. That's not a huge issue for me playing at home, as I can just leave it on my coffee table, but it might annoy others.
If you want a simple, neat capo that does exactly what a capo is meant to do, and does it well, I can recommend this model.
