Necessary for Outdoors Weekend Warriors

After a ruined backpacking trip at the Lost Coast because of the hot black sand and sharp rocks, I decided to purchase these for my husky. It turns out, these are very necessary for anyone that spends time with their dogs in the mountains or around hot or sharp or hard walking surfaces. My dog fought them at first but sort of "resigned" to allowing me to put these on her. Although she acts like she's ashamed of wearing the boots, she's taken to randomly sprinting and acting like a trackstar during hikes. She's much more peppy and willing to run with them on.

They did take some getting used to though, she acted like she didn't know how to use shoes at first. Now, they give her much more traction when jumping and walking on smooth or hard surfaces. I would highly recommend the socks to go with them because they will rub their feet if not properly fitted. And, they can fall out of proper fit fairly fast over demanding, wet or muddy terrain.

I wouldn't skimp on another pair. I didn't realize how much abuse my dog's feet were taking until after I put these on her. These are very solidly made and worth the additional price.

Back ones flip around every 50 yards

These dog boots are excellently constructed and much more durable than than previous ones I have bought that were a bit less expensive. I was really excited to try them with my 75lb Golden Retriever in the snow. I measured as the website had recommended and got the 3 inch type. They fit his front paws great without any trouble at all. His rear paws are a little bit smaller but still measured closer to 3''. Even with snugging the rear ones on as tight as possible, they still tend to flip over so he ends up running on the top of the shoe until I can flip them around again. It only takes about 50 more yards before they're flipped again and I have to call him back. I would have given these 5 stars had we not had this problem but this is a really expensive boot to be calling my dog back all the time during our trail walks; it get a bit frustrating. Really good construction, but I'm not sure I would buy again due to this issue.

NOT SAFE!!!! STRAP DIRECTLY ON DEW CLAW

I have a nearly 70lb female GSD measured her paws exactly the size I got. 2.5 there seemed like plenty of space in between however this shoe is more so designed for looks than it is function. The strap is literally right over the dew claw. Originally got the boots to prevent infection for a deep cut my baby girl had in a gravel trail how ever the strap as mentioned is directly on the dew claw. Tighten it too much hurts dog. Loosen it comes off. They clearly chose looks over function and now I feel terrible for trying to be proactive with one cut only to have my girl have cuts on her dew claws and even on the back paws that don’t have dew claws had been tighten to the point that the shoes caused friction and peeled some of her skin. Extremely disappointed with this and myself and yes she just recently had her nails trimmed even tried ruff wear socks, toddlers socks even tried gauze to make padding just. Absolutely not worth it especially for the HIGH price

Wow. Ripped on the top on first run

well I have bought these boots over the last 10 years for my Aussies. I think the quality at ruffwear (so sad to say) has dropped. We ran my Aussie (pavement isnt his friend- city dog feet) next to the bike 4 miles at a trot. The boot is ripped on the top already. I, sadly, dont think these are worth the money & have to go elsewhere for booties.

Love, love, love! These shoes have been through hell these past two years and they are still going strong! My boy is a working dog so we use these shoes heavily in the summer time. They still look like new and do the job they were meant too. With Ruffwear you pay for the quality and it shows! Make sure that you go the to website and correctly measure your dogs foot before you buy. The socks are also a great addition, but you can use baby socks just as well. They are also super easy to take on and off, so you don't have to "fight" your dog when trying to put them on.

My fault for sure but I waited too long to try them on my dog (we needed the weather, we moved and got busy) and when I realized there were too small (86lbs GSD with big paws) and asked for an exchange to a bigger size which is a special order, they told me I was outside of the window. They had only been tried on. Kinda irritated I spent so much on them, just wanting an exchange, I tried to make them work. Even being too small, they still turned on my big boy's feet. They look better than anything on the market but don't function like I'd hoped.

Great fit, may scuff feet after long distance

Fit is excellent and they wont fall off. Ive tried other brands that keep on twisting and getting loose mid-run. BUT I took my dog out (german short-haired pointer) for a 3 mile run and it seemed like her feet hurt alot as she was very slow and was limping at the end of the run (she usually does this effortlessly) and refused to keep walking. Had to carry her to the apartment and leter found out she was bleeding from her dew claws and there was other signs of scuffing. Ill try again with socks to see if she fairs better.

The dogs don't love them, but they don't mind them

We have these for all our dogs because we live on a ranch in south Texas and there are a lot of sandburs. The dogs don't love them, but they don't mind them. Once we get them on and they see us heading for the truck they forget they have them on and run around normally. The pups act like they are paralyzed the first couple of times we put them on, but once they've run around in them a minute they are comfortable. They do a great job of keeping those sharp thorny sandburs out of their feet. I really like the fact that you can buy by the set or one at a time because we occasionally loose one. Put the strap around the ankle tight or the dog will throw them off.
