The chair is very easy to put together. It took me less than 10 min.
In full disclosure, my box arrived a bit banged and unfortunatelly one of the side arms came with paint chipped. I contacted the seller and the manufacturer and the interaction has been very attentive. They will send me a replacement. I will update after the issue has been completely resolved but I am sure it will be a happy ending.
Cons: The leather stitching and stretching is slightly inconsistent. Mine had a small bubble in one area, and a stretch mark in another, and with noticeably crooked stitching in other areas, right out of the box. Not huge blemishes, but lower quality than you'd expect for $850. The chair has, as far as I can tell, been sprayed with a flame retardant chemical, which gives it a relatively strong odor. I had mine for ~4-5 days before sending it back, and while it eventually stopped smelling, I couldn't sit on it immediately after assembly until 3 days lapsed without getting lightheaded; the degassing was noticeable. The seat has no tilt (maybe I'm wrong, I found a seat pan and a height adjuster) and the front cushion dug into my thigh a bit. Finally, the armrests don't fully lock in place. They do when pressed down on, but if you try pulling the chair by the handle 9/10 times you will pull the armrests up requiring you to readjust them again. Not terrible, but annoying.
In sum, the chair is well-made, but it seems like it's a far cry short of the price bracket that it's trying to compete in. It should be roughly half the price, in my opinion.
- Lumbar support is excellent, probably the best on any gaming chair.
- Placing the controls for the two most used functions right under the armrests is ingenious.
- It's possible to move the seating surface forward and backward.
- Rolling the cair is easy, even on my extremely fleecy carpet while sitting in it.
- The TPEE mesh is great, as it prevents sweating during long-term use.
- There's no noise coming from that thing. No squeaking, no creaking, no whirring.
- Insane 200kg weight-bearing capacity.
- This chair is even more eye candy than I expected.
- You don't have to assemble this chair before using it.
- That chair has the German GS mark, which is probably the toughest safety label a product can get.
The bad:
- My chair came without the headrest, despite VERTAGEAR's official website states the SE would come with it.
- The manual is loose in the box, causing it and the inlying guarantee card to arrive tattered.
- All five Holtron Casters tend to lose their breaker clips.
- Despite the chair's 200kg carrying capacity, it is not suitable for overweight persons. That's because the seating surface is too small, causing your upper legs to basically rest on the only slightly cushioned supporting frame. This results in a toilet seat feeling you definitely don't want. Everyone above 100kg should avoid this chair at all costs, including people reaching that weight simply because they are very tall.
- The two larger leather accents on the seating surface look cool, but they also create an unpleasant gap between them and the TPEE mesh.
- Both armrests are such a junk, you won't believe it! (1) No horizontal adjustment possible. (2) Vertical adjustment is very rudimentary: 7 levels of hight and the highest level causes a reset to the lowest level. The usability of this solution is close to zero. You always have to guess on which level each armrest is, hoping you didn't accidentally hit the reset level. (3) No forward and backward adjustment possible. (4) Tilt adjustment is possible, but only for a few degrees spread over 3 settings. Moreover, the tilt function triggers way to easily. (5) The armrests are made of cheap plastic, feature no leather cover on the upside and have lots of bumps on the downside. You can really feel the stinky Chinese injection molding here. (6) Pulling up the left armrest is way harder than pulling up the right armrest.

Top reviews from other countries
The package arrived in a huge box, which was a little damaged but nothing major. The chair came in four 'parts' - the base, gas lift, chair itself and then the wheels. It was very easy to assemble.
I inspected the chair carefully and found there was a few minor issues which hopefully Vertagear will take note of and improve their quality control - mainly paint chippings around some of the bolt holes and where the frame is welded. Thankfully it does not affect performance and not too noticeable unless pointed out.
I saw some reviews about 'pinching' on the back of knees - this has not happened to me and the support under the knee seems very comfortable, with no pins and needles which was the main reason for getting rid of my old chair. I use this for gaming and working, so can often be seated for many hours at a time.
Seat performance
The mesh allows for great airflow and is very comfortable to sit in. It appears well made and the ten year warranty gives confidence that this will last a very long time. The seat itself can be adjusted along the horizontal to give a deeper seating area and the chair travels up and down on the vertical with the gas lift (trigger controlled). It fits under my desk comfortably.
Back support
the lumbar support can be moved vertically and the back of the chair moves horizontally to give good control over the amount of support you need. I have found it very comfortable and it has improved posture. the back support can be adjusted using the trigger on the left whilst the handle underneath the chair controls the amount of resistance to the backrest.
Headrest
the SE version came with the new upgraded headrest which contains coffee grounds and silver. It will apparently helpd to absorb any odors and the silver gives it anti bacterial properties. It is adjustable in height, angle, depth and locks in place quite well. It is quite comfortable.
Armrests
Fine but not the best - they pivot left and right but do not slide back and forth. I don't really use them. The material is hard with a small amount of sponginess. I would have liked them to adjust back and forth. they have about 5 height settings but it is easy to lift them too high so they reset.
Wheels
Very smooth and they glide easily with hardly any sound. They look brilliant. The wheels have latches for fixing them in place. If they are locked the little plastic locks will 'ping' off if enough pressure is applied and they can be difficult to lock in place - but easy enough to re-attach.
Triggers
These do seem a bit of a gimmick. You will likely spend 30 minutes initially fine tuning the chair and then never use them again. The left trigger controls the backrest and locks it in place, the right controls the gas lift. they are a cool design and much better than having them under the chair but not the main selling point in my view.
Look & feel
This thing looks amazing. It looks expensive, feels expensive and is a pleasure to use. the mesh looks very durable so it won't look tatty after 6 months. Be sure to take care of the leather correctly, which is extremely soft and of high quality and it will not show signs of age.
Overall
This is an excellent chair. I initially bought it with the intention of trying it out for a month then either keeping it or returning it. I will be keeping this chair and hopefully it will last a good 10+ years, which really makes the price seem worth it.
