　１９８９年、この時期はプリンスは自分の作品よりもプロデュースした作品の方がいいと思うのですが、中でもこれがベスト。
　バックは明らかにプリンスの音でその上に、実力あるゴスペルシンガーが歌う。シーラＥも参加していて、これがかっこわるいわけがないという。
　曲も、ゴスペル？って思うほど、バラエティがあって、いい曲だし。別に、ストーンズのカバーじゃないんですけど。
　メイヴイス・ステイプルスの実力もここではほんとうにすごいなって思い、その後のＣＤもずっと買っているし、それらももちろん傑作なのですが、この作品と、後の「We'll Never Turn Back」はゴスペルの範囲を超えた作品だと思います。
　えーと、この時期のプリンスのプロデュースは、ジル・ジョーンズやタジャ・シヴィルなどの作品があって、これらも本当におすすめなのですが、やはり本作です。

プリンス全盛期にペイズリ-パークより89年にプロデュースした作品。

個人的にジル・ジョーンズの「JILL　JONES」が聴きたかったンですが

現在も入手困難…このメイヴィスは「声」が好きなんもんで

プリンスの「グラフィテイブリッジ」（90）で僕は初めてメイヴィスの声に

触れたんですが（＃14のメロディク−ルが激渋だったんで）

はじめに「THE　VOICE」を購入、批評等は随分厳しめですが

僕は気に入りこちらも購入しました。

音の方は……さすがに80年代バリバリで、正直今聴いたらとっつき難いかも？

好みが分かれると思いますンで星３つ。このヒトはやっぱ「声」ッすよ、渋〜い！！

For you Prince fans this one was produced by the Purple genius himself. I've had this music once but my tape broke. (LOL) I'm so glad I was able to find the CD. Check out the last track...Time waits for no one!!! Awesome.

By the second half of the 1980s, Prince had become so successful that practically everyone was begging to work with him. It must have seemed like divine intervention when he chose Mavis Staples. She had made a name for herself singing with the Staple Singers (“I’ll Take You There”) in the early 70s, but hadn’t released an album since 1979. Prince wrote the majority of the songs for the album, and got friends like Sheila E. and Eric Leeds to pitch in during the recording sessions. Mavis of course supplied her trademark soulful vocals. Highlights include “Train”, an outtake from Prince’s recent “Sign o’ the Times” album, and the title track. “Jaguar” is another fun dance track originally written for Sheena Easton. Perhaps when Mavis sang it, they should have re-named it “Cougar” (Mavis was nearly 50 at the time)! Sadly, no hits materialized, and the album is now out of print. But “Time Waits for No One” marked the start of a great friendship and a fruitful collaboration with Prince. Mavis would eventually move into recording Americana with the likes of Jeff Tweedy, but she proved that she had the goods to assure her longevity beyond the 1970s with this album.

The cd is pretty good, it have train, the song from sign o the times super deluxe cds, this is the 1st album under paisley park, that mavis did, the voice is the 2nd, some of the music is slow down r&b style music, which is not bad.
