1.0 out of 5 starsI regret buying Singer 2010 It died after 5 months

I am a costume designer and sew for a living. I really wanted a durable but inexpensive machine for my at home projects, ie making baby clothes for my one year old, nothing major. I wanted a Kenmore, since that is what my work machines are and love them with all my heart. To my dismay, discoved Kenmore is nolonger doing sewingmachines machines, and I can not afford their manufatuer (Janome). I did some reasearch and the Singer 2010 kept popping up and comes highly recommended with positive reviews. It was more then I wanted to spend, but factoring the cost of attachments that came with it, I figured it was worth the little extra money. I decided to take the leap of faith and purchase it, thinking that the trusted name still meant something. Well, I was wrong. Big time! My singer 2010 died after 5 months of use. Just turned off in the middle of sewing, and would not turn back on. Ended up having to have the mother board replaced. The warrentee says you have to ship it to them (at MY expence) for repaire. They have had my machine for 4 months. When I finally got it back it was missing the screw that attaches the pressure foot to the shank, so I haven't even been able to test it to see if it works or not. Called Singer asking for a new one. It has been 3 weeks and STILL dont have it. Called again asking where it was, and after 30 minutes of trying to convince the CSR that I still didnt have the part (she didn't believe me, since the part isnt out of stock, so there is no possible way the order didnt get processed.) The CSR finally decided to actually look into it, descovering that it was only shipped yesturday. Their products are inferior. The Customer service is not knowlegable of their product and they are not aimed towards making their customes happy or even rectifyign their own mistakes. I will never buy a Singer product again!!
