Southern Impulsion: First Love, Second Chance (Station 32 Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars 277 ratings

Tomorrow wasn't promised--not for us. What happened each time we snuck away had to count. Fast breaths, thundering hearts, shaking hands scrambling to get close, then closer. Yeah, we damn sure made it count.

We were real. I swore this boy could not be wrong for me.

He was the first one I fought for. The first one who broke me—scarred my soul. He was the southern boy who haunted every moment of my life until I crashed right back into his.

What I could and could not control in my life vowed Wyatt Doran resided where he belonged, in my past. The thing is, giving a flying freak what others thought, landed me where I was. Second chances put people in their place—and rarely where they expected.

Let’s ride, cowboy...

Beautifully written love story. Wyatt reminds me of a little rough around the edges country boy, while Harley's elite life makes it appear to be the complete opposite. As Harley's love for horses increase, she goes to train during the summers at Wyatt's family farm. The love that sparks between Wyatt and Harley is the love of legends. As teenagers they know that their love is like no other, even after they are ripped away. After a freak accident and years apart, one glance and they realize their will never be another for either one of them.

I have read all of Jamie's books and have to say this is my favorite. Her Web of Hearts series is amazing and it makes me think and feel on a so many different level, but Impulsion is just it for me. As this book is a book of fiction it is a believable book of fiction. Impulsion takes a real relationship through the journey of life, as in the fights, the misunderstandings, and the undying love. Not being a real emotional person I found myself crying through Wyatt's and Harley's journey as well as smiling from ear to ear as they conquered the obstacles. I could go on and on about this amazing book but don't take my word for it you will just have to read it yourself. A fantastic book for us romantics at heart.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone to read because it is a great read from Jamie Magee. She will get you emotionally invested and keep you reading. Hot young farm boys that make hot firemen can do that!
I have read read all of Jamie's books and I have loved them all. I have always been able to relate to the characters on some level and feel the emotions coming from the pages of her books. She did not disappoint me with Impulsion. However, this is the first time I have had to take a timeout and think about my review. While her writing was great and flowed just fine, there was just something that was holding me back. Then I realized, I didn't relate to the main *female* character. I found her weak, easily manipulated, and stand offish. I did however relate to the male MC. In fact, I enjoyed ALL the boys (eventually *fire*MEN) and their bond with each other. Because THIS BOND is going to be the purpose of the series (although each book seems to be a standalone) that is what makes this book worth reading.
While I truly enjoyed this book and will absolutely read about the rest of these oh so HOT firemen, there is one part of this book that bothers me
****SPOILER ALERT*****

When Harley wakes up in the hospital, Wyatt's mom admonishes her for just believing Dorcas and not stopping to ask/hear the truth when Ava was calling for her. This adds even more guilt to Harley's shoulders than she already bears, and makes her feel more shame at a time she shouldn't. WELL, if blame is bein cast, why was Wyatt never admonished for not asking for/getting the truth when he saw Harley and Collin at the hotel? I mean, no one's perfect, but why cast more blame and guilt when both kids were at fault in a manipulated game that an 18 year old could never win?----- Just something that hasn't sat with me well....
Even still, READ THIS BOOK! It's worth it :)

Every great once in a while, I unexpectedly cross paths with an outstanding novel. I was between reads and randomly searching for something my catch my eye when I stumbled upon Impulsion. I am so thankful that I did because this story has left a lasting permanent indent in my reading life.

“All she wanted was Wyatt and her father’s blessing.”

I never got to experience young love to the magnitude witnessed within this emotional journey. Due to this author's extremely gifted talent, I was able to close my eyes and imagine it. Wyatt and Harley are soulmates, destined for one another yet held back by circumstances beyond their control. They only have stolen moments, quick exchanges and must always be on guard. Regardless, Harley and Wyatt are able to ignite a burning love that will never extinguish.

“No distance or time is ever going to change the way I feel about you.”

Wyatt stole my heart right along with Harley's. I was hooked immediately on his southern charm. I feel like I never find cowboy heroes as fantastic as Wyatt in books I love as much as Impulsion. The combination is tough to find. Wyatt’s invaluable lessons, meaningful advice, and glorious dialogue are ultimate treasures. It brought him to life. Wyatt is SO hot without being raunchy or too over the top. He is just an amazing man and he is exactly what Harley needs.

“Say what you mean, mean what you say.”

Harley receives constant pressure from her shallow mother to be someone she's obviously not. Harley doesn't belong in the pompous world she has grown up in but can't find the strength to stand up for what she truly wants… an escape to her haven indefinitely. I empathized with Harley and felt her desperation. From the outside, people might assume her life is something to envy but she's suffering daily. Wyatt is her balance and she craves him like her next breath but the fear is never far from mind. Her mother was the wicked antagonist and played the role flawlessly. I was impressed with the reaction she got out of me, which again proves the endless ability displayed.

“I could have fought harder. I was weak, didn’t use my voice.”

A series of unfortunate events continue to keep these two separated over the years so I desperately wanted to reach in and point them in the right direction. Even with time stretching their connection, Harley and Wyatt are never far from each other's thoughts. Fate finally intervenes and closes their distance. Wyatt and Harley blend so well it's impossible to know they were ever apart. Finding that unforgettable rhythm isn't effortless and misunderstandings cause further frustration. Eventually they snap and realize they can't stay away a second longer. The sheer energy and explosive chemistry radiating from the pages was phenomenal. I couldn't get enough of this pair. Recalling their exquisite strength brings tears to my eyes all over again.

“My goal every day is to just let you be.”

Their love is simply beautiful and written to absolute perfection. The words spread across each page are pure brilliance. This author has left a lasting impression on me and I can't wait for what she has next for Station 32. I'm so glad I came across Impulsion and I hope you all give it a read.

“I respond to you, Harley, in every way. I feel you inside of me.”

3.0 out of 5 stars Badly needs proof reading

Badly needs proof reading as it's littered with grammatical errors and missing words. I quite liked the characters, but they didn't evolve much from their teenage selves. And what's with the cryptic yoda style speak from his mother and her father? Decidedly weird. I also found that I was missing a fairly well anticipated showdown with her mother - it never happened. This book could have been so much more than it was.
