Kleptomaniac: Who's Really Robbing God Anyway? Kindle Edition

4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars 78 ratings

KLEPTOMANIAC, Who's Really Robbing God Anyway is a trek through the pages of the Bible to find the untwisted truth about the centuries-old teachings on tithes and offerings. Every page of this book has information that will make you become an analyst in getting to the bottom line of what tithing is in the Old and New Testament. It takes you on a journey to first define the word tithe and then breaks down the differences between giving and tithing as the Bible instructs.

The author attempts to expose what most people believe as fact to bring them to what the Bible actually teaches when it comes to true giving. Are the arguments put forth today about tithing fact or fiction? This book tackles tough questions like, did God ever require a tithe of money? Was the contents of the tithe always money in the Bible? Who is really robbing God today? Did God change the tithe at some point in biblical history? Are first fruits money? Is the tithe food, money or both? Is the church the storehouse? Did Jesus, Paul and the Disciples tithe? Did the early church honor a money tithe system? Are Christians really cursed for not tithing ten percent of their income? These questions will be answered based on scholarship, the land, the language and the literature of the original Biblical people. Not only will questions be answered for those confused about whether or not they are required to pay ten percent of their income to any religious institution, they will learn what the Bible really teaches about money and stewardship.

The author meticulously examines the word tithe in both the Hebrew and Greek language. To understand every Bible verse that contains the word tithe, the author gives context and definitive definitions for clarity of the text. This book also explains the concept of giving from a New Testament perspective without the mandate of ten percent and explains why the Apostle Paul never mentioned tithing to any of the New Testament congregations. From Genesis to Revelation, this book is about how to properly interpret biblical terms to arrive at the proper interpretation of a biblical text that refers to money or tithing. Because there are pros and cons about tithing, the author examines both tithing and non-tithing theological camps and presents analysis and conclusions so that the reader can make an informed choice as to how they will give in the future.

Since money is vital in every part of society and the church, this book spends a considerable amount of time detailing how money was used in the Bible to help readers know the difference between tithes and money. The tithing phenomenon has been around for centuries and this book is an expose' into the how the current doctrine came into existence and who the culprits were who played a major role in what churches teach today. Whether you agree or disagree with tithing as a viable doctrine, KLEPTOMANIAC is a back to the past look at Israel's history and how they practiced tithing in a theocracy.

This book also questions how tithing practices of today affect people financially and how those practices are unlike tithing practices of yesterday. Not only does this book challenge the accepted definitions of the tithe, it also questions the sustainability of the current practices, especially when economic times get tough for people who may not be able to give much.

From the very beginning to the end of the book, everything is supported by Scripture and research. You will know from the onset why the author, Dr. Frank Chase Jr., wrote the book and learn about his personal story of what happened as a result of embracing New Covenant giving principles from the New Testament. Not only does the book cover the Old Testament tithe, it also unveils what the New Testament teaches about giving by analyzing some of the epistles of Apostle Paul concerning his views and instructions on charitable giving.

Kleptomaniac: Who's Really Robbing God Anyway? The untwisted truth about the centuries-old tithes and offering deception by Dr. Frank Chase Jr, TH. D fills a narrow but very real niche in the area of biblically derived lessons and advice on the subject of tithes and offerings. I would have thought most Christians would research this topic themselves if it were very important to them, but to have all the references in one book, along with sound commentary and advice from a biblical scholar, certainly makes it easier. Dr. Frank Chase Jr. describes his own evolution of ideas about tithing and I must say we went through many of the same phases in pretty much the same order. I stopped evolving while Frank Chase Jr. went on to write this book that helps other Christians who have the same questions he had. Christianity at its best.

"Kleptomaniac: Who's Really Robbing God Anyway? may have more biblical quotes and references to tithing and money in general than any book I have ever read, save, of course, the Bible itself. It is written in a very smooth and articulate style that I'm guessing will be understandable to most people, but at the same time Dr. Frank Chase Jr's education and vocabulary are evident on every page. As is his faith and his desire to help. From Abraham to Paul, Frank Chase Jr. delves into the origin, the definition, the application, and even the abuse of the custom of tithing. It is an interesting and sometimes colorful history and one Christians should certainly be more aware of. This book will help them." -- Reader's Favorite
"Kleptomaniac" is an insightful and well-constructed argument on tithing and offerings at church, defending the author's decision to seek the truth in Bible Scripture. Everything is backed up with huge amounts of research, resulting in a comprehensive and rather airtight argument against this unfair system that is often foisted on Christian believers. The author approaches the topic with well-researched evidence, solid facts, and his own firm beliefs." - Self-Publishing Review"Self-help books have become a prevalent genre in today's world of information at your fingertips. Humans learn greatly from the experiences and knowledge of others, especially when that knowledge is contained in a book designed to help others with a specific topic. Dr. Frank Chase, Jr wrote Kleptomaniac to inform other humans about tithing. The question is, does Dr. chase do the issue with tithing in the modern church justice? I must say that Dr. chase takes century old arguments about the practice of tithing in the church and bursts the topic wide open. After reading this book, I felt immensely informed about whether or not I should tithe based on societal expectations or give freely from my own heart. I recommend Kleptomaniac to anyone and everyone dealing with church tithing and understanding the shift of tithing from food to money and how that correlates to the modern church." This composition presents among the best insight on the hermeneutical fallacies of the New Testament teaching of the tithe. Dr. Chase presents a clear and precise response to every argument that falsifies the usage of Mal. 3:8-10 being bestowed unto the new covanent church age as well as repudiations of the pre-law argument of the Abraham and Melchizedek narrative.

Dr. Chase also directs the readers to understand the tithe substance of the mosaic law was in fact for dietary food consumptions - justifying the argument based on the propositions of Penteteuch. Moreover, Dr. Chase implements a proper approach to systematic theology - differentiating between old and new covanents i.e. commands on monetary giving of the Israelites and the manner of income acquisition of the Levitical priest' as well as revealing the occupational duties of Levitical preists' civil duties being vastly different than that of New Testmant apostolic livelihood i.e. the monetary income that supported their ministries throughout the 1st century.

This book presents among the best theological and historical arguments against the new Testament teaching of the tithe. Dr. Chase also has a YouTube channel which elucidates the content of this book - which I personally find beneficial. This composition is perfect for those who highly regard theological, hermeneutical, and historical approaches of interpreting scripture and is perfect for apologetically debunking the new testament tithe argument.

Pastors are so brain washed from seminary schools! Therefore teaching false doctrine! Deep down I always new we were not under the Law of tithing! This book makes it so clear and easy to understand! Scripture is so clear and the author proves this false teaching through scriptures and a lot of them!!!

This book is "spot-on" with Scripture regarding the tithe. Human beings (most probably the Roman Catholic Church) invented the "monetary tithe," NOT God our Father via His Son, Lord Jesus.

Increase in agricultural production and increase in animals as per Leviticus 27:30 & 32 (see below), were the items to be tithed, NOT money. To quote Mr Chase on page 116: "Fear induced tithing is much more profitable than freewill giving." And so it is...

Lev 27:30 “And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is Jehovah's: it is holy unto Jehovah.” Lev 27:32 “And all the tithe of the herd or the flock, whatsoever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto Jehovah.

False teachings were around in the day of the Apostle Paul, and they abound today more-so than ever. Be vigilant my brothers and sisters. Cultivate and expand your relationship with our Father via His Son Lord Jesus throughout every moment of every day. Love & Blessings to all, always and in all ways.

“In the face of severe criticism from his own beloved church, Frank has become a good Berean. He has studied the subject of tithing as deep as I have for my PHD and has expanded my book by adding many more details and much more context. I urge you to bear with his hurt and patiently read the book for a blessing in receiving the truth about the taboo subject of tithing. It is time to expose modern preachers who refuse to teach in context and have become kleptomaniacs by squeezing their own flocks to enrich themselves. Apart from fully endorsing it, I do fully recommend its addition to the fight for God’s truth.

Some will be shocked and even upset in finding out the truth knowing they have paid so much of their hard earned money believing they were doing what God commanded and to find out that you have been mislead by someone or who just had a lacked understanding who have never did a deep study on this topic. This book will re leave a lot of feeling guilty by not paying 10% of your income to pay your bills. There is freedom in this book!

It is a good book on this subject. The author covers the biblical evidence well and comprehensively. He explains what the tithe actually was and who was requured to pay it. His reasons why tithes are not for today are backed by the Bible. He also makes it clear we should support our churches and give to help others. He explains how giving is suppose to work under the new covenant. Dont let preachers and others mzke you feel guilty for not tithing as God doesnt require it

I have been reading Kleptomaniac:Who's Really Robbing God Anyway? For a few days now. It takes less than four hours to read the entire book. However, I can only read a little at a time due to commitments that govern my time. Anyone and everyone who is serious about their walk and relationship with God should read this book. The author explains in great detail passages that deal with the relationship between God and man, (God's demands both past and present) and encourages the reader to study the word of God for spiritual growth.
