Product Description
Shadow Tactics is a hardcore tactical stealth game set in Japan around the Edo period. Take control of a team of deadly specialists and sneak in the shadows between dozens of enemies. Choose your approach when infiltrating mighty castles, snowy mountain monasteries or hidden forest camps. Set traps, poison your opponents or completely avoid enemy contact. The group is composed of very different personalities. Working together as a team seems impossible at first. Yet over the course of many missions, trust is won and friendships are made as each character faces their own personal demons. One of the leaders of this team is Hayato, an agile ninja, who clears the way through his enemies silently with his sword and shuriken. Samurai Mugen prefers a more powerful approach and can defeat more fiends at one time, but thus also forfeiting flexibility. Aiko is a master of camouflage when she distracts enemies disguised as a Geisha. And the street child Yuki places traps and decoys enemies towards their deadly fate. The mysterious marksman Takuma however, relies on his sniper rifle and takes care of enemies from a distance. In Shadow Tactics, you will have to carefully evaluate your options in order to master the challenging missions, picking the right team member for each task and devising your own ingenious tactics to vanquish enemies and complete missions.

Every character has their own specialty, you can choose to snipe at your enemy from far away but then you might need those precious ammo later or you can use traps etc.
After I finish a level I would watch how other people did it on YouTube and I find it very amazing how many other ways to finish your goal.
I suggest anyone who like strategy game to play it first then watch other people do it online, afterwards you will all agree with me that the reviewer who said this is not a tactical game to be very wrong.
I kill every enemy to reach my goal, some people online can finish levels without killing a single enemy and reach their goal in such a fast pace. Also, killing enemies requires you to analyze the whole field, sometimes you can just sneak up behind an enemy or you can lure them to traps using whistle or sake. You can use disguise and blend in or stay in the shadows. If that is not what tactics means then I might be speaking a different language.
I highly recommended this game. Play it on normal , dont use any guide (dont watch it online) and quick save a lot cos you will die and fail a lot (dont worry you can save anytime and the load time is super fast except for the initial load in the beginning) and after you finish a level it will feel very satisfying, then go on YouTube and watch how other people did it and you will be amaze.
As a puzzle and stealth fan, ST is a masterpiece for me. This game is actually more like a blend between tactics and puzzle genres, where you have to figure out how to reach the goal with your methods. Everyone will have different methods. There is a reviewer in here who said this game isn't a tactical game but more like puzzle. I agree with him it's like puzzle, but saying it's not tactical is not true. If you don't think and analyze what the level offers then you would have a hard time beating that level. Also most of the time the game offers 2 or more paths to reach the goal, so it's not really linear or limited like the other reviewer said.
My only complaint is that the game is a little bit short and npc (other than main characters) are quite bland. They could have added a little bit of more conversations or stories to the npc just like in Hitman games, instead of short annoying repetitive dialogues every 30sec. But at the end of the day it doesn't really matter much. I just think it would be cool to have that feature added.

Overall: A masterpiece that needs a sequel.
This developer understood what they were doing. The game doesn't over stay its welcome. If you enjoy speed runs each of the missions can be done in just a few minutes. However, to reach such a skill at gameplay will take many playthroughs. The game does not cease to be entertaining. The stealth mechanics are very thoughtful, enjoyable, and provide a wealth of personal options in strategizing. The characters are wholly realized. Each one has their own personality, quirks, flaws, and depth. The game is also culturally and historically aware. There are wealth of different little things to make into gameplay as well. You can use the environment or come up with your own plans far outside the 'box'. That's another thing that is very liberating about this game. If you play it as a story then the game is quite long. Easily 30 hours. If you're sharp, good at multi-tasking, and quick-witted then it is something that can probably be beaten in around an hour. In between those extremes are numerous little 'options' to completely go your own way and see how much you can really make the npcs go crazy. In return the game can sometimes outwit you as well, making for a very playful atmosphere - which is the point, right? I love it! Every minute.
Truly wonderful game. No complaints at all. Perfect score.
