The manual instructs that one should allow 8 hours for the initial battery charge and that the tanks run for approx. 15 minutes of game play following this charge. Subsequent recharging should allow 4 hours. The boys and I upon reading this were highly disappointed. 15 min of run time is not much to hope for! Well, fear not! It may well be that that its 15 min of constant run time, not typical game play time. The tanks both ran for a long time and we were all well satisfied. We found that they ran exceptionally well on hard surfaces and have avoided carpeted areas. This keeps the drive components cleaner and avoids the tracks becoming unseated due to additional friction. I suspect that the reduced friction of the hard surface may have helped with the length of run time as well. Turn it immediately off when not in use to preserve the battery and charge/recharge properly and there won’t be an issue.
Game play is great. Each tank has a 4-hit lifespan, per game. The tanks have a realistic movement and include a smooth pivoting action on the turret. The tank’s main gun can be made to shoot in large burst fashion or as a machine gun; each having a different impact on the opponent tank. This pivoting turret on the tanks truly makes the toy! It adds another level to the complexity of movement and ability to engage the opponent while on the move.
We took cardboard boxes and made obstructions all over the kitchen to add to the fun. We have the tanks hiding in box tunnels and climbing over small cardboard mounds. We all had a great time with it. For the $41.22, this is a great value! Now we’re considering getting another set so we can have a multi tank battle. Our house cats have even been entertained by the kitchen blitzkrieg.
While it is a little odd to pair a modern Abrams tank against a WW2 German Tiger (hint: the Abrams would win), if you can get past the historical anachronism there are a few nice touches you will like: 1) they are very well packed 2) they are surprisingly strong 3) the few seconds of "invincible" after you are hit makes sure that the game stays fluid 4) the batteries last a decent amount of play time. I really hope these tanks hold up because they are a neat little toy and my son said they were his favorite gift this Christmas. Minor ding - the cheap 5-cent speakers in these things make them sound like tinny crap - not so bad when you are playing because the sounds are good, but if you are in an adjacent room it's annoying.
Pro-tip: Scatter a few shoeboxes, blocks, or other obstacles around the room to create a fun 'ruined cityscape' to battle in - being able to dodge and hide injects even more fun into the game.
****Update, I found a battery place to repair the connector since the company never bothered to respond and found that upon starting one of the tanks had an inoperable track. a tank that only has one track can only go in a circle. If I knew I was going to pay $50 for a single tank I would have bought a better one.
I took the malfunctioning tank apart (not easy). Turned it on to see if motor on bad track worked, tank wouldn't work at all, discovered white wire had pulled loose from printed circuit board and I couldn't tell where on the board it had been attached. Took other tank apart (even more difficult because two of the screws are under stickers), and made sketch of attachment point. Reassembled and now this tank doesn't work. Went back to first tank and soldered on the white wire, tested motor terminals - no power. In the meantime one of the components on the circuit board had come loose..............but enough, this is after maybe four hours.
I just ordered another set of tanks..............If you are willing to pay $35 for twenty hours of fun, five stars.

Initial battery charge b4 usage is 4hrs & there after is 2hrs should equal 12 mins of full on play. Kids learnt how not to lose little tiny screw that locks battery plate closed.
