Product Description
Product Description
Crafted by Hand. So You Don’t Have to Eat with Yours.
Spoon? Check. Bottle Opener? Check. With this unique outdoor multi-tool, you’ll be checking off a lot of things without having to dig too far into your pack.
Our Eat’NTool is the brainchild of designer Liong Mah of Palm Bay, FL. At first glance it looks like the familiar spoon/fork "spork" combination, but Liong has used his ingenuity and computer-aided design skills to create a lightweight, high-tech outdoor tool.
Yes, there is an ergonomic spoon, and a short-tuned fork. But in addition, there's a handy bottle opener on one side for your beer that will go with dinner. Then, if you’re in a bind, the right side of the handle is ground to provide an emergency screwdriver blade and will also work as a pry for opening canisters. Finally three metric wrench reliefs (10 mm, 8 mm, 6 mm) are useful for emergency repairs. See there, looks can be deceiving.
A large central hole is not only designed for finger gripping, but it also keeps the Eat'N Tool weight down. At just 1.5 ounces (43 g) this multi-tool doesn’t just look good on paper. In its attractive chrome color it looks good to the eye too.
This unique tool also features a non-load bearing carabiner for easy snap-on carry on D-rings or loops on clothing and backpacks.
Reach for the Eat’N Tool and you’ll never again find yourself saying “Darn it, where’d I put the…”

From the Manufacturer
Here at Columbia River Knife & Tool® (CRKT®) we're inspired by great design. Our I.D. Works® products are not tools you will find anywhere else. We're motivated by design that is both inspired and functional, as created 500 years ago by painter, sculptor, architect, and inventor Leonardo da Vinci, who said "observe everything" in nature. We've partnered with the best and brightest designers of today who share this vision of putting functional art in your hand. They are organic and ergonomic shapes, sometimes whimsical, always useful. These unique tools make up our growing I.D. Works® line. Put them to use, enjoy them, and always remember what inspires you! Our new Eat'N Tool™ is the brainchild of New York City designer Liong Mah. At first glance it looks like the familiar spoon/fork "spork" combination, but Liong has used his ingenuity and computer-aided design skills to create a lightweight, high-tech outdoor tool. Yes, there is an ergonomic spoon, and a short-tuned fork. But in addition, there's a handy bottle opener on one side. The right side of the handle is ground to provide an emergency screwdriver blade, which will also work as a pry for opening canisters. The large central hole is not only designed for finger gripping, but also keeps the Eat'N Tool weight down. Three metric wrench reliefs (10 mm, 8 mm, 6 mm) are useful for emergency repairs, and result in a tool weight of just 1.5 ounces (43 g). For easy snap-on carry on D-rings or loops on clothing and packs, there is a carry carabiner (non-weight-bearing). The Eat'N Tool is available in a bead-blast finish (9100C), or with a food grade black non-stick coating (9100KC).

OH! The next best part about this? You see that little hook on the side? The one that you will probably use to open that refreshing bottle of root-beer or Fanta you shed three pounds of pack weight to carry out with you? Well my friends, that little hook will keep that spoon hanging inside of your 20 oz steel camping mug WITHOUT doing the Jacuzzi.
A couple of serious notes: Keep it clean and dry, just in case. Like all equipment, treat it well and it will treat you well. And finally, pack it in, pack it out - Leave No Trace is the goal folks, even if you want to enjoy a refreshing beverage.
Construction is good, of decent stainless steel. The finish seems pretty durable, and has survived several meals, some tool tests, and a couple of trips through the dishwasher. The carabiner is small but does the job.
It actually works really well! I ate a traditional holiday dinner with it, and was surprised at how well it did. The tines speared various meats and vegetables without any problems. It handled mashed potatoes and stuffing with ease. The bowl is a little small and shallow, but you can eat liquids with it. If I had one word of advice, don't hold it as illustrated on the packaging, with one finger through the central hole. Just hold it like you would a regular fork, gripping it at the curved end.
You can use it as a last-ditch weapon of sorts. If you put your middle finger through the large hole, you can hold the spork in your closed fist. Thus, it has a tactical function, and can be used to ward off whatever is attacking you, or attempting to steal your freeze-dried scrambled eggs. I wouldn't trust my life to it, though!
For the other functions:
*Bottle opener: Works, but because the metal is a little thin I had to work at it for a minute.
*Screwdriver: Works as expected
*Wrenches: Work as expected, but leverage might be an issue.
The only real complaint I have is that this is a short spork with a wide handle, meaning that it has trouble getting into deep pouches.
As always, be aware of what you're getting. This is a bit of a whimsical tool. I think if they had focused on eating and added a can opener on one side this would be a winner. I'd say this is a good choice for addition to your emergency kit, as a backup utensil, or as a stocking stuffer for a gadget/emergency preparedness junkie. If you're going backpacking or camping for extended periods you might want to take one of its longer-handled cousins.
I have always found it curious that the wrenches were included. The screwdriver blade is useful to pry cans open, the bottle opener makes sense... but hex wrenches? I have never been in a situation where I needed to wrench something open and was only left with my spork - I can't imagine anyone else falling into this sitation. Honestly, if you do ever find yourself where you are in a life threatening situation only left with a spork, you are probably so far up crap creek that a spork won't save you. But I digress. Personally, I think it is an excuse to punch some holes in the thing to reduce the amount of steel being used and also included in order for CRKT to label this as a multitool. At least it reduces the weight of the spork?
