I used them for about two months now and it’s noticeable how often I use them, because the, made of, paper towels are still plentiful!
I like the idea of helping to save the planet, so that’s a good thing, but my reasoning for this purchase was really my pocketbook.
The cost of the paper napkins has gone way up, at Walmart. I’d pay $2.60 for their store brand which is now over $6.
The bamboo towels are so efficient, in my kitchen, they hold up to several days of wiping counters and table spills and crumbs and as a hand and dish towel. I can use the same towel the same day to wipe up cooking messes, like some food spills and the spice containers.
Haven’t use these towels on any type of red sauce or grease, but I’m sure when they get more worn out after more washing, they’ll be used for those types of cleaning, and then they can be tossed way.
Also they’re no good for wiping mirrors, smearing is all I saw. Also I’ve only used them in the kitchen so far.
As far as washing, initially I would hand wash them in the sink with hot soapy water and hang dry them overnight and perfect by morning. Then I washed them in the washer along with dish towels and laundry detergent no bleach, and hung them up to dry. The bamboo towels did good! They did wear out a some, but nothing like transparency or shredding, they did have lint balls all over and they shrunk about a 1/4 inch all around.
But they are still absorbent, strong, they came out clean no stains and now they’re super soft to the touch! So now I can designate some new ones for my face, too.
These towels are extremely efficient, economical and efficient! I will definitely buy more!
I also feel like this one roll will last me a long time. I've probably pulled about 10-15 or so towels off already for various tasks, and I still have half or more of the roll left. Plus I don't need to pull any more off any time soon because now I have a ton of the towels ready for reuse between washes. The biggest issue I have, if you can even call it an issue, is figuring out where to put all these bamboo towels between uses. Not really a problem, since I already have a solution in my home, but I mention it just to remind people to think of it like an actual towel once you pull it off the roll, so you aren't pulling a bunch off if you don't need to. In terms of how it picks up liquid or other items, I personally have noticed I've been able to use 1/2 or even 1/3 or less of the number of bamboo towels as I would have usually used Brawny paper towels or other paper towels for the same tasks. The bamboo towels only come off in the full size of a normal paper towel; there aren't the "choose a size" option like you get with paper towels, if that's of import to you.
I personally think everyone needs these things. They're as useful, unique, and irreplaceable as Mr Clean erasers; the sort of thing you don't realize you need as much as you do until you get it, and then once you have it, it will always bug you if you run out because even though you can find other things to do the same job, it will take a lot more of the other product and it won't do it quite as well. I still have my paper towels because I'd bought a bunch before I purchased the bamboo towels, but honestly, my current plan is to not repurchase paper towels after I run out of them, and only ever get bamboo towels again. I so far have not run into a situation where the bamboo towels weren't as good or better for a situation as the paper towels.
