This was a pleasant, heart-warming and a feel-good read.
This was a pleasant, heart-warming and a feel-good read.
I make it a point to read these books before passing them on to my daughter to ensure she will be able to handle the language on her own and also to check the content. Gail Herman has done a commendable job on this adaptation. There are about 101 pages in this book and the chapters are brief. The language is not dumbed down, yet not too advanced for an independent young reader. There are black and white illustrations that engaged my daughter (a visual learner) and kept her attention throughout the two hours (collectively) or so she spent reading this book. The chapters are short and the plot keeps moving along, keeping the reader engaged. Highly recommended for independent young readers ages 6-9.
The kindle edition of this was well done, no terrible formatting errors to distract from the narrative. There are no illustrations included in this version, leaving the reader to rely on their own imagination to picture the scenes Spyri has so vividly described. Maybe it is better that way.
Heidi was so spectacular that I would definately like to rate it hundreds of stars; and I consider reading all of Spyri's books. I think Heidi is the perfect book for people of all ages and if you like books such as "Little House on the Prairie" you will love Heidi.
The setting is somewhere in Switzerland with all the Alps. I think reading this book made me want to go to Switzerland! Like I've said before, this book is very beautiful-- everything about it-- the setting, the story, the way the author writes it, it is pure beauty. I don't think I-- possibly you-- have read any book as good as this.
So, overall, this book is the most best book for anyone who loves life on the alm, faithfulness to God, and a nice beautifully-written tale. This tale made me very amazed and happy at Johanna Spyri's literature, and I guarentee it will to you too. Heidi is the best book in the whole world. Pure Literature and Pure beauty.

From the moment I opened the pages of this book, I was transported to the idyllic Swiss Alps, where the charming Heidi and her adventures captured my heart. Johanna Spyri's storytelling is nothing short of enchanting, and her vivid descriptions painted such a clear picture that I could almost smell the alpine flowers and feel the mountain breeze.
What makes this edition particularly special is the care put into the presentation. The cover art is delightful, and the quality of the pages is top-notch. It's a book that feels as wonderful to hold as it is to read.
Heidi's story is a timeless tale of the healing power of nature, the importance of friendship, and the resilience of the human spirit. It's a book that can be enjoyed by readers of all ages, and I have no doubt that it will continue to be cherished for generations to come.
If you haven't had the pleasure of reading Heidi yet, I highly recommend picking up this edition. Whether you're revisiting an old favorite or discovering it for the first time, you won't be disappointed. It's a masterpiece that deserves a place on every bookshelf.
