I am not contemporary reader and I also hate sports so this book majorly impressed me! I read a few contemporaries here and there. This one definitely exceeded my expectations and was a lot deeper than I expected. The only thing I was a little bit worried about when I first picked this one up was that it was about football. I honestly hate football. My eye starts twitching just thinking about the hard cold stand seats and the many hours of suffering I endured on Sundays from many ex boyfriends. Ugh never again! LOL But Jordan made me feel passion for the game! At over six feet tall and 170 pounds Jordan can hold her own. She comes from a family of football players, her dad plays professionally in the NFL and her brother is playing in college and planning on an NFL career. She has loved the game since she was a little girl.

The way Jordan talked about what she will do after college when she can't play anymore and what it will be like if she can't even play in college was so sad. How much she enjoys playing in high school and how she may never be able to feel that way again. I'm tearing up just thinking about it. I find it so upsetting that someone may not be able to do something they love just because they are female. I was also upset by her dad for most of the book. He was worried about her getting hurt and didn't want her to play. I can totally understand being scared of her getting hurt but he wasn't at all worried about his son. He constantly complemented her brother and her friends but never her. I wanted to jump in the book and slap him. But Jordan is determined and he does finally begin to see how much it truly means to her. I was very happy about the way their father/daughter relationship progressed.

Now onto the romance. I felt like the romance almost came second over Jordan and her dreams and I surprisingly liked that a lot. Jordan never dated much because she was always practicing football and mostly only hung out with the team. She never wanted to date anyone on the team because she knew them too well and that could cause drama and awkwardness. She likes being one of the guys and she worked really hard to earn her teams respect. I loved the football team dynamic. They always had her back, especially her best friend Henry. Even the way they met was adorable. She caught a ball he threw and then threw it back to him with a way better throw. She took his spot as quarterback on the team and the rest was history. I loved their friendship and the whole time I was hoping something would happen between them. He supported her and was always there for her. Also their scenes together were hilarious. They even teamed up at one point to parent one of those fake babies for school and it was pure genius. I knew that whether or not it became romantic like I wanted, that those two belong together in some way.

But along came Ty Green. New in town and brand new on the team, he may just be a better quarterback than Jordan. Jordan knows she needs to fight for her spot but she can't help notice how incredibly hot he is and how he seems to notice her as well. Jordan didn't want a relationship between them to start team drama so she fought her feelings for awhile. I liked Ty as well. He was willing to give up so much to take care of his family. I hate love triangles more than most people but I never felt like this was too torturous. Both guys were great but it was just that one was better for Jordan. I grew to love both guys even with their many faults and what each guy had with Jordan. Jordan never let them really define her. She worked at football and worked at making everything work out the best way possible. It took time but I thought everything eventually worked out perfectly. I loved all the characters and all their developments. I loved the humor, the emotion, and the way the chapters were set up. I loved the chapter titles and the little writings from Jordan's journal that were included between chapters. I was just very much in love with this book and read it all in one night. Very much looking forward to the release of Stealing Parker.

"This must be the weirdest thing a football coach has ever seen: two quarterbacks making out."

"Why were you watching me change?" I explain. "Uh, 'cause I'm a guy?" He flips the pillow and slaps it, fluffing it. Then he rolls over and closes his eyes again.

"Jordan, he's loved you forever. It's obvious. Have you not seen how he stares at you?"

"Love hurts worse than getting slammed by a 250-pound linebacker."

"Henry?" JJ asks.
"Asleep in my bed."
"What?" Ty exclaims.

He whispers, "You're beautiful."
"Thank you." I'm not so scared anymore. If he likes me for who I am, it doesn't matter what kind of underwear I'm wearing. Or that I'm not wearing makeup. Or that I'm over six feet tall. "You're really cute too," I say, giving him another kiss on the lips, digging my fingertips into his abs.
"I've never wanted anyone so much in my life."

Jordan Woods is not your average girl and she wouldn't be even if she wasn't the captain and quarterback of one of the best high-school football teams in the state. She's six-feet tall and just happens to be the daughter of NFL Quarterback Donovan Woods. Jordan has always been one of the guys, but even though this is how she wants it, it does have certain drawbacks. Like the fact that she's a senior and hasn't been kissed yet. The arrival of Ty Green changes everything.

Suddenly Ty is challenging not only her position on the team, but her sanity, her friendships, and her self-control. She's never wanted anyone this bad and never knew a crush could cause so many problems. To top it all off, her football-star father won't take the time to attend her games or even support her love of his sport, her best friend Sam Henry is upset and won't tell her why, and Alabama State (her dream school) is offering her a scholarship that will probably mean she won't play a game her entire college career. Will Jordan be able to regain control of her life or will the changes that started with Ty ruin everything?

Despite not liking sports, I love sports movies. When I heard about this book, I thought it sounded like a perfect balance. The characters were likable and entertaining and the dialogue was realistic; several times the exchanges between the characters made me laugh. I especially liked Jordan's relationship with her father and how that progressed through the course of the book. It was believable and touching. I also fell in love with Sam Henry, Jordan's best friend. He made me wish I knew someone like him. Ty was hot and an emotional disaster area for very understandable reasons, but I never really liked him much. Maybe it was because I always felt as though he was hiding something and we didn't get to know him as well. The one thing that disturbed me a little was the flippant attitude toward cheating. I can see how this is probably a realistic perspective from inside the guy's locker room (in theory, not in actuality--Jordan uses the girls locker room), but it seemed like Jordan's friends on the team were never with the same girl. And all the girls seemed to be cheerleaders. Either that cheerleading team was huge, or those cheerleaders were very busy...

The book really focuses on three things: Jordan and football, Jordan and her dad, and Jordan and Sam Henry. It's possible one of the reasons I didn't like Ty much is because it was pretty obvious from the beginning that he was only there as a catalyst to set all the other events in motion. All of the main characters have decent development through the book and that's really what kept me reading. I loved their devotion to the team and to each other and Jordan's willingness to fight for what she wanted, even if she forgot what that was somewhere in the middle of the book. She's a strong female character in a male dominated story and sport, but I think she held her own well. I did, however, appreciate that she eventually found girl friends who made her have some connection with the other side of herself.

Light, enjoyable, and fun, I would recommend this book to anyone looking for an entertaining, romantic read. Although understanding what a flea-flicker is probably won't hurt. :)

I really enjoyed this book! The characters are fun and truthful and most of all true to themselves. I love how Jordan is determined to get a football scholarship even though she would be subjected as being a girl quarterback.

Her relationship with Jordan is a wonderful example of best friends and I quite loved how they were so comfortable together. It was pretty obvious that Sam was in love with her. It was sweet, and as much as Ty was such a hottie and a good guy I was definitely gunning for Henry!

Can I just comment on the very realistic eating habits of these teenage football players?? I loved how much they gorged on food. It just reminds me of my boyfriend and his best friends.

Loved this book! It’s been such a great read. I highly recommend it for a light fun read!

Nichts, was ein Vater seiner Tochter wünscht.

Avid Reader.

This is my first review so here goes...
Okay, so when I first bought this book I was a bit apprehensive to read it since it appeared to focus a bit on football and I have no knowledge on football at all but after the first page I knew my first impression was beyond wrong. I mean yeah it features parts about football considering the main characters are football players but it's not all about football like I thought it would be.

Catching Jordan is by far one of the best books i have ever read and i read a lot of books. It is well written, the characters are believable as is the storyline.

Jordan Woods is the starting quarterback for her high school football team but she is the only girl on the team. She's treated like one of the guys and it seems like that's the way she likes to be: all her best friends are guys.
When the new guy at school, Ty Green, looks like he could take her position on the team, since he is also a pretty amazing quarter back, she gets worried but she soon realizes there is nothing to worry about, position wise anyway. Ty doesn't seems like he is really interested in the position but more interested in Jordan herself. And that's when things get complicated.

As much as I liked Jordan's character, my favourite character was Jordan's best friend Sam Henry (or Henry as he is mainly referred by.) He was funny, sweet, kind etc. I loved how he and Jordan had such a strong friendship. I'm not ashamed to say I kind of fell in love with Sam a little bit. I would love a best friend like him!

Now no teen book would be complete without a love triangle of some sort and this book certainly didn't disappoint on that front. the Ty, Jordan and Sam triangle almost had me in tear. Especially when Jordan found out Sam liked her as more than a friend and she realised she liked him as well. Sam rejects her since she is dating Ty and acts a bit like an idiot, ignoring her in school, not being there for her when she needed him but he more than made up for it.

I won't say anymore because I don't want to ruin it for people that haven't read it but honestly if you're unsure whether to read it or not i would say go for it, it really is such an amazing book and you'll definitely read it again!
